1 A Family of Quilts on the GO! Supply Lists and Pre-class Homework Basic supply list for all quilts: Sewing machine in good working order with a new needle. If you have an extension table bring it and if not, remember to bring your accessory drawer so that you have a larger sewing surface. Also, if you re bringing a travel machine please be sure that it is working properly and that you have all the necessary parts, including feet. If you want to cut additional triangles for a larger quilt or have chosen the Jen & Mary or the Katie Quilt: Easy Angle 6 1/2 ruler. It is available at most quilt stores or JoAnn s. Note that this is not the Tri-Recs ruler. Any rotary cutting ruler that is 18 long or longer. If you ve taken a class from me before, you may have the Draft N Cut 2 x 18 ruler. This is perfect for this quilt, but others work. The Draft N Cut by Simplicity can be purchased at JoAnn s or some quilt stores. 8 1/2 or 9 1/2 square ruler with a diagonal center line. Larger squares will work, but these sizes are best. You will not need this if you choose the Jen & Mary. Rotary cutter with a new blade and cutting mat. Scissors, thread, seam ripper, and other basic sewing supplies. Refer to the quilt that you ve chosen for fabric requirements. I ve given each quilt a different name in order to keep everything straight. Marisa Quilt: 40 x 48 before borders. 30 blocks that finish at Fabric: It is not necessary to agonize over the following sizes, as long as you re close. This is what is needed to go through the cutter. It will do the accurate cutting. Also, colors are given so that you can refer to the photo and determine which pieces I m referring to. For scrappy, the more fabrics, the better. 60 scrappy squares cut at approximately 8 square. 1

2 15 - Green 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles and 15 - White 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles for the pinwheels. I recommend that you stick to just two colors for the pinwheels in this version. It will give the quilt some continuity and tie everything together. You will also need fabric for a border, backing and binding. I used the green pinwheel fabric for my border. Jen & Mary Quilt: 36 x 48 before borders. 48 blocks that finish at approximately 6 square. Easy Angle 6 1/2 ruler Fabric: It is not necessary to agonize over the following sizes, as long as you re close. This is what is needed to go through the cutter. It will do the accurate cutting. For scrappy, the more fabrics, the better. 24 scrappy light squares cut at 24 scrappy med/dark squares cut at 24 scrappy med/dark 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles. Each rectangle should be a different fabric, if possible. Optional: These are for the triangles that make up the block centers. The more variety that you have the easier it is to arrange the blocks in the quilt, so if you want you can bring up to 8 additional rectangles (for a total of 32 rectangles) in a variety of fabrics. You will also need fabric for a border, backing and binding. There will be some leftovers from this version that can be used for another project. 2

3 Rita Quilt: 32 square. Sixteen blocks that finish at Fabric: This version uses just two different fabrics with a lot of contrast. There are also optional applique flowers and a ric rac border. The ric rac border requires a very wide ric rac. I will have a sample in class as well as information on where it can be purchased. Since this is a smaller version than the other quilts, you can cut up to two of these in class. The following are requirements for one quilt. It is not necessary to agonize over the following sizes, as long as you re close. This is what is needed to go through the cutter. It will do the accurate cutting Light squares cut at 16 - Dark squares cut at 8 - Light rectangles cut at approximately 9 1/2 x 4 1/ Dark rectangles cut at approximately 9 1/2 x 4 1/2. Optional: 1-5 square of contrasting fabric for each flower. 1-2 square of a second contrasting fabric for each flower center. This will not be needed for class. The same sizes of a fusible such as Heat N Bond Lite for each of the applique flowers and flower centers, but it will not be necessary for class. Ric rac for the outside edge. This sample has no added border, but one could be added. If you choose the ric rac edge, you will also need binding fabric in a color similar to the ric rac. This will be a single-fold binding cut at approximately 1 3/4 in width. You do not need this for class. There will be some leftovers from this version that can be used for another project. 3

4 Katie Quilt: 40 x 48 before borders. 30 blocks that finish at Easy Angle 6 1/2 ruler Fabric: It is not necessary to agonize over the following sizes, as long as you re close. This is what is needed to go through the cutter. It will do the accurate cutting. For scrappy, the more fabrics, the better. 30 scrappy light squares cut at 30 scrappy med/dark square cut at 15 - Green 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles and 15 - Gold 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles for the pinwheels. I recommend that you stick to just two colors for the pinwheels in this version. It will give the quilt some continuity and tie everything together. No additional fabric is necessary for the block centers. These pieces will be cut from light leftovers. There will be dark leftovers that can be used for another project. Optional: 10-3 miscellaneous Red squares for flowers, and 10 Green buttons for flower centers. You will not need these for class. A fusible such as Heat N Bond Lite for the flowers. You will not need this for class. If you are making this version larger, you will need additional light fabrics for the block centers. Scraps approximately 4 square will make two of these triangles. You will also need fabric for a border, backing and binding 4

5 Amy Quilt: 32 square before borders. 16 blocks that finish at approximately 8 square. Fabric: It is not necessary to agonize over the following sizes, as long as you re close. This is what is needed to go through the cutter. It will do the accurate cutting. Also, colors are given so that you can refer to the photo and determine which pieces I m referring to. For scrappy the more fabrics, the better. Since this is a smaller version than the other quilts, you can cut up to two of these in class. This is what is needed to go through the cutter. It will do the accurate cutting. For scrappy, the more fabrics, the better. 30 scrappy light squares cut at 30 scrappy med/dark square cut at 15 - Blue 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles and 15 - Cheddar 9 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangles for the pinwheels. You will also need fabric for a border, backing and binding Note: The quilt shown is just 20 blocks, but the supply list is for a 30 block version which can be cut in class. There will be some leftovers from this version that can be used for another project such as the doll quilt shown on the right. Using leftovers from other versions will be talked about in class and some samples shown. If you have your own Accuquilt GO!, dies needed for all quilts are: /2 Triangles Half square 3 finished Triangle. Bring your cutter to class for your own use so that you can cut more quickly. You will not be asked or expected to share it. 6
