6 Click on the blue flag and drag the exact location where you want to design the system; The orange square represents the image that will be uploaded as a base for your project. You may also allow to check the wind zones by clicking WIND ZONES; Click on SELECT AND CLOSE after confirming the location of the project. Ground Mount Training Page 6 of 32

7 Define the Location To define the location you can draw an area by clicking on Polygon icon in the tools bar Ground Mount Training Page 7 of 32

8 By clicking the Move element you can adjust the dimensions of the selected area; The area and perimeter of the selected area will be also provided. Ground Mount Training Page 8 of 32

9 Panel Selection PV-ezDesign has got a full list of panels. Choose your panel by clicking PANELS in tools column and choose from FACTORY LIST. If manufacturer is not in the list you can add manufacturer in to the list by clicking ADD TO LIBRARY ; Ground Mount Training Page 9 of 32

10 Then choose your panel from the list on the right and confirm your selection by clicking on ACCEPT. Ground Mount Training Page 10 of 32

11 Configure your array Click on structure types and select the type of racking you want to use. Ground Mount Training Page 11 of 32

12 Select the degree of pitch for the system; Click on CREATE PROTOTYPE to confirm your selection, it will then appear in PROTOTYPE LIST as shown below: NOTE: This angle depends on the location. In Australia, it will depend on where you are. However, in Europe, the optimum angle will be provided based on the location Ground Mount Training Page 12 of 32

15 Arrange the panel manually Click and drag the prototype and drop it in the selected area; Ground Mount Training Page 15 of 32

16 Note: When you drop the prototype in the selected area, you can see the number of panels and total power in the field as shown on the left. : Translate allows you to move the panel; : Duplicate; : Edit; : Rotate; : Delete. Ground Mount Training Page 16 of 32

17 Duplicate Allows you to create multiple panels in both horizontal and vertical directions,you can do this by filling the number of panels and distance between the panels. Then click on DUPLICATE, as shown below: Ground Mount Training Page 17 of 32

18 Edit Allows you to change the number of panel per arrays. Click on one of the red icons and drag horizontally to adjust the panel number. Ground Mount Training Page 18 of 32

19 Rotate Allows you to adjust the angle of the array. You can rotate it manually by clicking on the red arrow icon or enter the exactly degrees in that filed and press Enter to complete the rotation. Ground Mount Training Page 19 of 32

20 Automatically generated by FITTING You can choose the spacing between arrays (vertical and horizontal distance) and the perimeter offset of the system; Press CALCULATE to obtain the layout from the one sized array Ground Mount Training Page 20 of 32

21 Maximum number of panels will fill the remaining space with a smaller array by clicking on OPTIMIZER. It allows the selected area to be maximised with panels. Once this option is ticked, press CALCULATE again to obtain the new layout. Ground Mount Training Page 21 of 32

22 Note: The panels face true north automatically. However, if you want the panels to face a particular border of the site, click on EDGE and the borders will be shown directly; Then select the border by clicking the arrow icon; Click on PLACE to confirm the layout. 23 Edit Edge Click on EDGE and choose the edge type and define the corresponding parameters at the bottom; Press CREATE to define the fence and the total number of panels and total power of this system will be given on the top; Ground Mount Training Page 23 of 32

25 Objects Go back to 2D view and click on OBJECT. Click on Trees, you can drag and drop it around the array based on the map; Then you can resize, move or rotate the objects. Ground Mount Training Page 25 of 32

26 Click on 3D view and select Scale to adjust the dimensions of the objects Ground Mount Training Page 26 of 32

27 Create a building around the array in order to provide better simulations. Click Sketch Industry Create building Note that the type of roof and dimensions of building can be adjusted. Ground Mount Training Page 27 of 32

28 Go back to 3D view to check the full view of the system and the objects around the fence; The array will not always be free of shading during parts of the day. Therefore: In Australia, set DAYS to be 21 st June which is the shortest day all year around and then click on HOURS to check the shadow effects from 9am to 3pm. During that period, if objects cast shading on the panels, the affected panels may be removed since the output of the whole system will be reduced if in string configurations. 29 Full 3D navigation.go back to 2D view and select CAMERAS ; Choose Navigate and click on ENTER MODE. Ground Mount Training Page 29 of 32

30 Click on Rotate to have a full 3D navigation; The person can walk around by controlling arrow key. Ground Mount Training Page 30 of 32

31 Produce BOM Exit navigation mode first and click on PROJECT after saving the file, then choose BOM Ground Mount Training Page 31 of 32
