1 Kaltura CaptureSpace Lite Desktop Recorder: Editing, Saving, and Uploading a Recording For this handout, we will be editing the Screen Recording we created in the Kaltura CaptureSpace Lite Desktop Recorder Creating a Recording handout. These steps begins after the Done button has been clicked in the recording handouts. 1. The Editing screen will open, and you will see: A. The timeline will be at the top of the screen (red box). B. The editing tools will be on the left side of the screen (orange box) C. A preview of your screen recording will be in the center of the screen (green box) D. Done and Cancel buttons in the lower right corner (purple box) 2. The recording should automatically play, but if not, select the Play button next to the timeline. Note: If it automatically starts to play, you will see a Pause button in place of the Play button, like in this handout. 3. There are four editing options: A. Trim - Trims the recording frames before and after the bounds specified. Click Apply to reflect the changes. B. Chop - Chops the recording within the bounds specified. Click Apply to reflect the changes. C. Titles Applies a title to the recording. Click Apply to reflect the changes. D. Credits - Applies credits to the media. Click Apply to reflect the changes. Note: You can use all of these editing options for the Screen; Screen & Webcam; and Webcam recording options, but for Voice recordings, you are only able to use Trim and Chop options.

2 4. Before making any edits, make sure you watch the recording completely and make notes of anywhere you need to make edits. We discovered we have empty air at the start and end of our recording that we need to remove, so we ve selected the Trim button. 5. Select the play head on the left side of the timeline and drag it to the right until the empty air has been removed. Do the same thing for the play head on the right side of the timeline. The sections of the media timeline outside of the play heads will be removed, anything between the two play heads will not. 6. Click the Apply button in the lower right corner to complete the process. 7. The Desktop Recorder will trim the areas that have been selected and will process the request (red box). When it has completed, it will show a green bar at 100% (orange box). 8. In the middle of our recording, we need to remove a section of the recording where we started saying the wrong line of the script we were using. To do this, we ve selected the Chop button.

3 9. Select the play head on the left side of the timeline and drag it to the right until it s just before the section you want to remove (A). Do the same thing for the play head on the right side of the timeline, so it s just after the section that needs to be removed (B). The parts of the timeline between the two play heads (orange box) will be removed, anything on either side of the two play heads will not. Click the Apply button (C) to complete the process. 10. The Desktop Recorder will chop the area that has been selected and will process the request. 11. Because our PowerPoint Presentation already has a title slide, we don t need to add one to this recording. If you recorded something that doesn t have a title slide, you could select the Titles button.

4 12. There are several styles of titles to pick from, use the arrows on the right and left sides (red boxes) to see what s available. 13. When you have selected the one you want to use, replace the sample text with information about your recording. 14. The last editing option is Credits, we don t need to add one to this recording. If you recorded something that you need to give credit to people for, you could select the Credits button. 15. 5 16. When you have selected the one you want to use, replace the sample text with the credit information needed in your recording. 17. When you have finished editing your recording, click the Done button in the lower right corner. Note: When you click the Done button, it permanently applies the changes you made to the recording. 18. A Recording Screen Capture window will open allowing you to Edit original recording or Create new recording. Select the Edit original recording button. 19. On the Upload Options window, you are able to: A. Give your recording a title that will be displayed in your My Media area B. Give your recording a description that will be displayed in your My Media area C. Give your recording tags that will make it easier to search for D. See how long the recording is E. Upload your recording into your My Media area F. Preview your recording G. Save your recording to your computer this is helpful when you are without internet access.

6 20. For this handout, we ve filled out the Title, Description, and Tags information but will save it to our computer. This will place the recording information on the Library tab of the Desktop Recorder. 21. If you hover your mouse over the recording, you will see a pencil icon to preview it or an X to remove it. Note: If you select to remove a recording, you will get a confirmation screen verifying that you want to delete it. 22. When you are ready to upload this recording into your My Media area, select the Not uploaded. Upload now link. 23. The Upload Progress window will appear, showing that your media is being uploaded to Kaltura (red box). Note: You can close this window using the Close button and the upload will continue in the background (orange box). 24. If you started uploading the wrong video, you can click the Cancel Upload button (orange box).

7 25. When the process has finished, the Upload Success window will open. At this time, if you click the link to the media (orange box) it will show an application error message in the browser. You will need to access the recording through -> My Media. 26. Click the Close button. 27. You will be returned to the Desktop Recorder, you can start another recording from this screen. For this handout, we are going to close the Desktop Recorder and verify that our screen recording has been uploaded in the My Media area. Click the red X in the upper right corner. 28. A confirmation window will appear, click the OK button.

8 29. Log into like you normally would and click the My Media icon in the My Home navigation bar. 30. The My Media window opens. You should see the media you just uploaded.
