2 February 6, 018 Re: Improvements to State Route 49 at I-70 and Brookville-Salem Road MOT , PID Dear Sir or Madam: In May 017, we informed you regarding a proposed project to reconfigure the Interstate 70/State Route 49 interchange. The project is necessary to improve the safety of the interchange and the intersection of SR 49 and Brookville-Salem Road. As design has progressed, budget constraints have forced us to consider an alternative design that maximizes the proposed safety improvement, while remaining within our means. Under the refined design, the existing ramp from southbound SR 49 to eastbound I-70 will remain in place and will be resurfaced with a high friction surface treatment. The project will otherwise remain as previously proposed: The westbound I-70 ramp to SR 49 will be converted to a T-intersection. SR 49 south of Pleasant Plain Road will be converted from a divided highway to an undivided highway. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the summer of 019 and will require approximately six months. Traffic on the Interstate 70 will be maintained. On State Route 49, one lane of traffic in each direction is expected to be maintained. As you are a nearby property owner/occupant (or other interested party), we wish to inform you regarding this project. We welcome your questions and comments. Issues you may wish to comment on include, but are not limited to, the effect of the project on local residents, air quality, the local economy, floodplains and historic or cultural resources. Please be aware that, at this stage in project development, it will not be possible to provide you with specific information regarding potential real estate acquisition. If right-of-way acquisition is necessary from your property, personnel with the District 7 Real Estate office will contact you directly at a later date, to discuss the right-of-way needs, the acquisition process, and your rights under that process.
