5 Step 1 Place the cartridge so the developer roller is facing towards you and cartridge label up, remove the four Phillip screws from the top cover. (Photo 1) Note: Some cartridges only have three screws holding the top cover. Photo 1

6 Step 2 Rotate the cartridge so the large developer roller drive gear is facing you. Remove the Phillip screw located in the bottom right. (Photo 2) Photo 2

7 Step 3 Four tabs located on the bottom of the cartridge, two on each side, hold the cover to the cartridge. Using a small flat blade screwdriver carefully pry the cover away from the tabs. See Photo # 3. Pry the top cover away from the cartridge. Photo 3

8 Step 4 Turn the cartridge so the fill cap end is facing you. Pry off the black developer gear end cap using a small flat blade screwdriver. Remove all three white gears and the developer roller bushing, taking note of the orientation. (Photo 4) Photo 4

9 Step 5 Remove the e clip from the developer roller shaft and the developer roller bearing. (Photo 5) Photo 5

10 Step 6 Optional Rotate the cartridge to the opposite side so the developer bias circuit board facing you. Remove the three Phillip screws on the circuit board and remove both the contact and board. (Photo 6 and 7) Photo 6 Photo 7

11 Step 7 Pry off the black developer roller gear end cap. Remove the small black washer and the developer roller drive gear. (Photo 8) Photo 8

12 Step 8 Rotate the cartridge so the developer roller is facing you. Pull the loose end of the developer roller out way from the toner hopper. Slide the roller to the left till the shaft of the roller is removed from the developer roller contact bearing on the gear side. See Photo # 9. Do not lose the developer roller bushing that fits on the shaft of the roller on the gear side. See Photo #10 Photo 9 Photo 10

13 Step 9 Place the shaft of the developer roller into a drill and tighten the chuck. Clean the roller using a lint free cloth and alcohol while rotating the roller with the drill. See Photo # 11 Photo 11

14 Step 10 Rotate the cartridge so that the fill plug is facing you and remove. (Photo 12) Clean out any remaining toner from the hopper using dry compressed air or a vacuum. Photo 12

15 Step 11 Clean the doctor blade using a dry cotton swab. If toner builds up on the doctor blade and cannot be removed with the dry cotton swab, use a small amount of alcohol. See Photo # 13 Photo 13

16 Step 12 Clean the developer roller bushings using a dry lint free cloth. While holding a bushing next to the contact bearing on the gear end of the hopper, install the drive gear end of the developer roller shaft into the bearing. See Photo # 14. Photo 14

17 Step 13 Install the developer roller drive gear and the black washer onto the shaft of the roller. Press the black end cap onto the shaft of the developer roller. The end cap should snap into place. See Photo # 15 Photo 15

18 Step 14 Rotate the cartridge to the opposite end and reinstall the bearing, e clip, developer roller bushing and the three white gears. Press on the black developer gear end cap. (Photo 16) Photo 16

19 Step 15 Fill the cartridge with toner and replace the fill cap. (Photo 17) Photo 17

20 Attention: The following procedure requires experience in soldering electronic components. Tool Requirements: Small Blade Screw Driver Needle Nose Pliers Small Vise Soldering Iron 600 F to 800 F temperature range, Conical tip recommended. Silver Solder

21 Step 16 Using a small blade screw driver, carefully remove the Cartridge Contacts Assembly from the side of the cartridge. (See Photo 18) Photo 18

22 Step 17 Hold the Cartridge Contacts Assembly in a vise or similar clamping device. (See Photo 19) Photo 19

23 Step 18 Remove the component soldered to the two outside contact tabs (pins 1 and 3) Holding the wire with needlenose pliers on the side of the contact tab, apply the heated solder iron onto the other side of the tab. As the solder melts, gently pull the wire with the needle nose pliers. Warning: DO NOT OVER HEAT the tab because the plastic housing is very easily melted. Repeat above instructions on the other outside contact tab. (See Photo 20) Photo 20

24 Step 19 Use solder iron to smooth and minimize the remaining solder on the contact tabs. Warning: DO NOT OVER HEAT the tab because the plastic housing is very easily melted. (See Photo 21) Photo 21

25 Step 20 Check tightness of connectors on the tabs. If loose, remove assembly from the tabs. Use needlenose pliers to tighten connector gap and reinstall onto the tabs. (See Photo 22) Photo 22

26 Step 21 Install Cartridge Reset System onto the two outside contact tabs. White shrink tubing should be facing away from the three copper contacts. (See Photo 23) Photo 23

27 Step 22 (Optional) Solder connectors to the contact tabs. Warning: DO NOT OVER HEAT the tab because the plastic housing is very easily melted. (See Photo 24) Photo 24

28 Step 23 Reinstall Cartridge Contacts Assembly onto the cartridge. (See Photo 25) Photo 25

29 Step 24 Replace the cover back onto the cartridge and reinstall the screws that hold the cover in place. (Photo 26 & 27) Photo 26 Photo 27
