6 Thomas H. Payne Thomas H. Payne holds the Horace and Sara Dunagan Chair of Excellence in Banking at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he also serves as professor and chair of accounting, finance, economics and political science. He holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas, an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a PhD in finance from the University of Arkansas. Since coming to academia from the private sector where he worked for two Fortune 500 companies, Payne has earned a reputation as an outstanding teacher, author, speaker, and consultant in the financial services arena. He has over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and has taught banking and finance at the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA levels. He is a visiting professor at the University of Orléans (France) where he teaches financial analysis and risk management. Payne served with the Financial Services Volunteer Corporation to assist the Savings Bank of Albania during its privatization and, in 2005, hosted a lending and risk management program for Russian bank executives. Payne works closely with the Tennessee Bankers Association and serves on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and the Barret School of Banking in Memphis. A graduate of the WestStar Leadership Program, Payne is chairman of the Martin Industrial Development Board and a director of the Weakley County Economic Development Board. He is founder of the UT Martin Regional Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center, supporting small business growth throughout northwest Tennessee. In 2009, this successful enterprise became part of the state-wide Tennessee Small Business Development Center Network. Payne is past president of the Martin Rotary Club and the Southwestern Finance Association. Jack Vonder Heide Jack Vonder Heide is one of the nation s leading authorities on technology and its impact on American businesses. He consistently is ranked among the top speakers at industry conventions, management conferences, corporate seminars, sales meetings, and other events. Prior to founding Technology Briefing Centers in 1993, Vonder Heide was vice president of sales for a major financial services company and held marketing positions with IBM Corporation. He appears regularly on ABC News and has also been featured on Fox-TV, CBS Radio, and in numerous newspaper and magazine articles. He has been a guest lecturer at Harvard Law School and is the author of two columns: Business on the Internet and Untangling the Web. His clients include major banks, financial services firms, trade associations, Fortune 500 corporations, and a variety of public and privately held companies. Charles E. Wilson Charles E. (Chuck) Wilson is managing principal of Banking Industry Group, Inc, a company providing onsite consulting, education, training, speaking, and coaching services in all aspects of customer relationship management (CRM) consultative selling/sales and quality customer service culture, strategic planning facilitation, board of directors effectiveness, and best practices in highperformance banking organizational issues. Wilson has more than 30 years of hands-on community banking and financial services industry experience. He recently served as executive vice president of Middleburg Financial Corporation, responsible for consumer banking and marketing. He has also been employed with IBM Global Services as principal, North America Bank Consulting Practice with responsibilities for providing an array of consulting services with community banking and credit unions under $10 billion in assets in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Before joining IBM Global Services, Wilson was a senior relationship manager for Sheshunoff Management Services, as a facilitator in the CEO Affiliation Program, and provided consulting services to community banks across the USA. Wilson was executive vice president and director of the strategic resources group of a multibank holding company with six community banks in Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. He has also served as senior vice president with an international multicompany insurance holding company. Wilson holds an undergraduate degree in marketing and management from Mercer University, a graduate degree in organizational development from the University of Louisville, and a professional master s degree in banking from Louisiana State University. He is a faculty member with SMU Southwest Graduate School of Banking and with the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. He is also a facilitator with LSU s Academy of Professional Banking in Scottsdale, AZ. Wilson is recognized nationally by the financial services industry as a popular speaker at national and state conventions, conferences, and seminars. 8

Anyone NOTE: interested in running for vice president representing the West Grand Division of Tennessee should contact a member of the Young Bankers Division executive committee. The nominating committee must receive official nominations for group directors and vice president by March 1. Hotel Information The convention is being held at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, located on the Gulf. The hotel is holding a block of rooms on a first-come, first-served basis at a special group rate of $189 single/double per night. These special rates will be available three days before and three days following the convention, up to 80 percent occupancy, for those who would like to extend their stay. The deadline for making hotel reservations at this special group rate is Thursday, March 18, When the allotted room block is sold, room rates will return to standard prices on a space-available basis, even if it is before the March 18 deadline. For reservation, please call Ask for Group Code YBL or Young Bankers Leadership Convention to receive the special group rate. Fee Information Fee includes speaker handouts, continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, and evening events. There is a separate fee for the golf tournament, and children s activities are priced separately through the resort. Please register early. At-the-door registrants will be assessed an additional $25 late registration fee. No written confirmation of registration will be sent from the TBA, unless registration is made online. Participation in TBA programs is limited to members, associate members, and nonmembers from an eligible membership category at applicable member or nonmember rates. General Information Attire: Resort casual attire is appropriate for this program. Because of temperature variations in meeting rooms, please bring a sweater or jacket for your comfort. Program Availability: Due to hotel guarantees and material production, reservations received less than 7 days before the program will be subject to space and material availability. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received in the TBA office 7 business days prior to the scheduled program will be refunded in full. Due to commitments with hotels, cancellations received less than 7 business days prior to the scheduled program are not refundable. Substitutions are welcome. Registrants who do not attend the program or send a substitute will be responsible for the entire registration fee.
