3 March 3-4, 2008 Presenter Bios Jennifer Brinkman Jennifer Brinkman, Program Manager with the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, has been working in the sexual assault and domestic violence fields for over 12 years. Jennifer started her career in Cincinnati, Ohio where she ran a campus based women s group dealing with sexual violence. In 1997 she started work at the YWCA s domestic violence shelter, My Sister s House as a Woman s Advocate. Jennifer worked at the YWCA until 2003, and left the position of Supportive Services Manager to come to the Coalition. At the Coalition, Jennifer works closely with the Domestic Violence State Coordinating Council and the Victims of Crime State Coordinating Council. She supervises the Program Specialists. Elizabeth Edmondson Elizabeth Edmondson is currently serving as a Program Specialist for the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence providing training and technical assistance to communities statewide. Elizabeth earned her B.S.W from Middle Tennessee State University. While working on her degree, Elizabeth worked part time at the YWCA domestic violence shelters in Williamson and Davidson Counties and interned at the TeenPEACE program of the Domestic Violence Intervention Center. After completing her Social Work Degree, Elizabeth worked full time at the YWCA s new Domestic Violence Center in Davidson County. During her 5 years at the YWCA, Elizabeth served as a Case Manager and the Community Outreach Liaison. Elizabeth also served on the Williamson County Task Force Against Domestic Violence and the Vanderbilt Violence Against Women Task Force. She has experience in case management, support group coordination and facilitation, crisis counseling, and community education. Emily Hall Emily Hall is a Program Specialist with the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence working on the Cultural Competency project. She obtained a B.A in Latin American Studies and Spanish from Warren Wilson College. In 2005, she coordinated the Culturally Competency project at the Coalition, working with a committee on the development of the Tennessee Cultural Competency standards and manual. Emily traveled abroad for most of 2006, spending time in Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia, and Peru. She hoped to gain insight into the experiences and realities of women in the countries she visited. To do so, she volunteered for a women s advocacy group in Oaxaca, Mexico, and spent time with a feminist collective in La Paz, Bolivia. She feels very lucky to have had such mind-expanding experiences, but is also happy to be home safe, and to be back at the Coalition! Page 3 of 7
4 March 3-4, 2008 Presenter Bios (Continued) Robin Kimbrough Robin Harris Kimbrough, Esq. is Legal Counsel for the Coalition and has worked with public interest issues for over ten years. This Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fisk University received her law degree from Emory School of Law in Upon graduation, she received an appointment as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee and continued her legal career in the private and public sectors of law forging change on issues concerning the protection of children and their families, especially those involved in the foster care system. She has also served as a Night Court Commissioner for the General Sessions Court, Davidson County, Tennessee and a professor on womanist/feminist issues in the Africana Studies Department and the Women's Studies Program at Tennessee State University. Besides her law endeavors, Attorney Kimbrough holds a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School and has served as a pastor in the United Methodist Church, Tennessee Conference for six years. Julie Callahan Julie Callahan is a Program Specialist working with the Tennessee Victim Assistance Academy project for the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Julie received both her BSW and MSW degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Julie began her work in the field of violence against women by working as a crisis line worker and woman s advocate with a domestic violence program in Mt. Clemens, Michigan and has continued to work in the area of violence against women for the past 6 years. In addition, Julie interned for her graduate education as a sexual assault therapist and ran groups for teen survivors of sexual assault. Most recently, she worked at the YWCA s Domestic Violence Center as their Community Living Manager supervising the crisis line, facility and volunteers and donations areas of the center. Rachel Stutts Rachel Stutts is a Program Specialist with the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. She served as an intern in the Spring of 2005 as part of her Social Work undergraduate degree requirements from Belmont University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work and a minor in Spanish from Belmont University in May Prior to becoming a Program Specialist, Rachel worked under the supervision of Kathy Walsh, Executive Director, as a Public Policy Analyst. Rachel will be overseeing the Tennessee State Victim Assistance Academy. She is currently attending the Nashville School of Law. Page 4 of 7

6 Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence Training Policy Effective January 1, 2006 Registration must be made 48 hours prior to the workshop/meeting/training. Payment is required prior to or day of training, and can be made by credit card, check, or cash. If breakfast or lunch is included in the fee and you do not register for the workshop/meeting/training 48 hours prior to the start time, you may not receive a breakfast or lunch as we order food based on the number of registrations. If you come to a workshop/meeting/training without pre-registering, you will be able to attend only if there is available room. You will also be required to pay for the meeting at that time. Cancellation must be made a full 24 hours prior to the start time of the workshop/meeting/training. If it is made less than 24 hours before the event, you will be charged in full for the event. If an outstanding invoice remains for you or your agency, you will not be able to attend Coalition trainings or events until you have resolved the issue with the Business Department of the Tennessee Coalition.
