5 Convention Speakers Micheal Burt Micheal Burt has spoken and worked with over 100,000 people from all walks of life in multiple disciplines over the last 10 years. His work focuses on helping people find their unique voice in life, redefine and reconnect leadership, and close the execution gaps that prohibit Micheal Burt turning thought into action. Burt helps companies create engaged workers, improve the customer experience prompting repeat and referral business, and build systems to re-enforce the core mission of the institution and retain top talent. Over the past 12 years, Burt has fulfilled the role of head women s basketball coach, athletic director, college professor, speaker, consultant, and author. His vast education, garnered while pursuing his doctorate in management and organizational leadership coupled with his experiences in both athletics and the business world, adds validity to his message and helps companies improve profits. As a coach, he has produced seven consecutive 20-plus win seasons, four conference titles, three sub-state appearances, two Miss Basketball finalists, and 100 percent of players that have furthered their education at the collegiate level. In 2007, Burt s strategies were validated when he led his team to a Class AAA state championship and a 38-3 record for the first time in over 83 years in the city of Murfreesboro and the first time in the school s 36-year history. The author of three books, the most recent being This Ain t No Practice Life, Burt serves as the chief leadership officer for multiple companies as well as his own Maximum Success, a leadership consulting firm that helps people go from where they are to where they want to be. He has worked with some of the top companies in the world as a speaker, coach, and consultant including Dell, Inc, State Farm Insurance, Cumulus Broadcasting, Bristol Regional Medical Center, National HealthCare, Rutherford County School System, Middle Tennessee State University, Cavender Financial Group, and many others. Staats, PhD William Staats, PhD William F. Staats, PhD, is a member of the faculty at the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. He is also a member of the faculty of the LSU Executive Program and serves on the faculty of several state banking schools as well as the American Bankers Association Graduate School of Compliance Management. Staats is a director of the Farm Credit Bank of Texas, a $14.2 billion institution, and a member of the Farm Credit System Audit Committee in Jersey City, NJ. In addition, he is chairman of the board of SevenOaks Capital Associates, LLC, a working capital finance company serving the trucking industry nationwide. He is a member of the board of directors of Money Management International, a Houston-based nonprofit organization providing education and consumer credit counseling from more than 120 offices across the nation, and chairman of the board of Platinum Healthcare Staffing, Inc, in Los Angeles, CA. Staats is a member of the board of regents of Texas Lutheran University. He was founder and vice chairman of the board of directors of New Braunfels National Bank in New Braunfels, TX. He was also named by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to the board of the nation s first bridge bank. For 30 years, Staats held the position of The Hermann Moyse, Jr, Distinguished Professor and Louisiana Bankers Association Chair of Banking at LSU. He also served as director of the Bankers School for Supervisory Training and as director of the Louisiana School of Banking. Before joining the faculty at LSU, Staats was vice president and corporate secretary of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He has been a member of the faculty at Rice University and at The University of Texas, where he received his doctorate degree. His undergraduate degree is from Texas Lutheran University. He has published more than 55 articles in banking and finance, and he is very active on the speaking circuit, making presentations throughout the nation. Staats has done extensive work as an expert witness in banking cases in about a dozen states, 25 of those cases involved suits by regulatory agencies against officers and directors of failed financial institutions. In addition, throughout his career, Staats has written seven books and has co-authored several publications. His latest book is entitled Key Concepts of Financial Management for Business Success. J. He is also vice chairman of Premier Community Bank of the Emerald Coast, a new bank in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Hotel Information The convention is being held at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Nashville at 611 Commerce Street. The hotel is holding a block of rooms on a first-come, first-served basis at a special group rate of $168 single/double or $188 triple/quad per night. The deadline for making hotel reservations at this special group rate is 5:00 pm on Friday, April 3, When the allotted room block is sold, room rates will return to standard prices on a space-available basis, even if it is before the April 3 deadline. For reservations, please call 615/ Ask for the Tennessee Bankers Association Leadership Convention special group rate. Fee Information Fee includes speaker handouts, continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, and evening events. There is a separate fee for the golf tournament. Please register early. At-thedoor registrants will be assessed an additional $25 late registration fee. No written confirmation of registration will be sent from the TBA, unless registration is made online. Participation in TBA programs is limited to members, associate members, and nonmembers from an eligible membership category at applicable member or nonmember rates. General Information Attire: Business casual attire is appropriate for this program. Because of temperature variations in meeting rooms, please bring a sweater or jacket for your comfort.
