If I had a $1,000,000.. I d buy a big sports car!
In pairs, write down what you would do with a $1,000,000! sports car DVD player holiday If I had a $1,000,000, I d buy a house!
- if I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a - I would buy you a house I'd buy you furniture for your house - maybe a nice chesterfield or an ottoman And a million dollars - if I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a K-Car - a nice Reliant automobile And if I had a million dollars I'd buy your a million dollars build a tree fort in our yard You could help; it wouldn't be that hard Maybe we could put like a little tiny fridge in there somewhere - if I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a - but not a real fur coat, that's cruel Well, I'd buy you an exotic pet - yep, like a llama or an emu Well, I'd buy you John Merrick's remains - ooh, all them crazy elephant bones I'd buy your love walk to the store We'd take a limousine 'cause it costs more We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner - Well, dress - but not a real green dress, that's cruel Well, I'd buy you some - a Picasso or a Garfunkel - if I had a million dollars Well, - haven't you always wanted a monkey I'd buy your love, if I had a million dollars, if I had a million dollars,
Print, cut and stick together to make a $1,000,000 note! (for activity)
If you had a $1,000,000, what would you buy? I d buy a new bike! Names If you had a $1,000,000, what would you buy?
Activity Plan (for teachers only) 1. Print out (enlarge if possible) and stick the poor man on the front on the board. Ask the kids a concept question e.g. is the man rich? Why is he unhappy? What does he need? Etc, and elicit answers from them. 2. Ask them how his life would be if he had a million dollars (tip - try to use if he had/what would he.) as much as possible! Take some suggestions and write them on the board. 3. Put students into pairs and let them brainstorm what they would do with a $1,000,000. Give them 2-3 minutes only. 4. Take some good suggestions and write them on the board, alternatively get the kids to come to the front to let them write on the board themselves (just be at hand to help with spelling!) 5. Play song by the Bare Naked Ladies. This is available on CD or the internet (keep it legal!!) Give each student or pairs the gap-fill sheet. Repeat song as necessary. Kids fill in the blank words. 6. Check back for answers. Did the students like the song? Would they buy these things with their money? Why not? 7. Ask each pair of students to write down one thing they would buy for a $1,000,000 and why. Each pair should quickly draw their choice on paper. Their drawing doesn t need to be brilliant. 8. Students walk around interviewing other groups and writing their choices on the table above. 9. After talking to everybody, each pair needs to decide the best idea in the class and buy it with their $1,000,000 note. If more than one pair likes the same idea, then you can just write down the idea (not draw it) on paper and swap it with the money. 10. Each pair at the end must say what they have chosen and why. Make sure they use If I had a $1,000,000, I would 11. The best pair get to keep their $1,000,000 notes! Have fun! If you have any questions, then please me: stuart@eslplans.com
