We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of metal detecting as a hobby. No brand or model of metal detector is endorsed by the club. Membership is open to the public with the only requirement being that all members follow the Treasure Hunters Code of Ethics. Club dues are $25.00 per family yearly. Any comments or stories that you would like to contribute to your newsletter are always welcome. MEETINGS: First Friday of each month. 2 2 Some National Hunt Announcements Attendance is going to be up this year. As of the last Board Meeting right after the early entry cutoff we had 108 entries in the Main Hunt, 20 in the Deep Competition, 18 in the Ladies, 10 in the Kids, and I believe about 76 each in the other two hunts. We also expect about 20 late entries. So far eight states will be represented. I saw Gary and Cathy out shopping last weekend. They have bought some really nice prizes. The number of detectors for prizes in our Main Hunt are also going to be up this year. We will have at least five, maybe six or possibly even seven this year. I have received three free magazine subscriptions from Western Eastern and three from Lost Treasures. Both have also sent lots of free magazines. Ginkgoware has sent me five I-detect Metal Detecting Journal CDs again this year to give out for prizes. I believe we will have some more prize donations coming. Cathy and Gary are doing the concessions again this year. They are really glad to have a kitchen this time! The concessions is a really big fund raiser for our club! They will be needing some help. Cathy also needs some members to bring cake and pies to sell for dessert. Big thanks to our hunt Chairman Francis Tracy. I know he and Mary has been busy for a while now. Thanks also to Gary and Cathy for buying the prizes. Especially my Ladies Hunt prizes. Nancy is rounding up the prize boards and will take care of the registrations. She will also need help. Gene is gathering up stakes for our stringing. We need everybody to come out and help bury the coins Saturday. We are going top have another great Hunt! It s going to be fun! SUNDAY APRIL 29, Miles West of Sapulpa, Oklahoma on Highway 66 at the Creek County Fairgrounds N W SCHEDULE 7:00-9:45 Breakfast 7:30-8:30 Registration 9:00-9:45 Deep Competition Hunt Targets will be buried deep for a real test of you and your detector. All entry fees will be awarded to the top 3 winners!! 10:00-10:30 Ladies Hunt Buried Silver Coins and Prizes. 11:00-11:30 Silver Half Dollar Hunt Only Silver Halves will be buried. 11:30-1:00 Lunch 1:00-1:30 Kid s Hunt Lots of Coins and prizes for kids 12 and under. 7 7 The Kelly B Todd Cerebral Palsy Kids Hunt will be held on May 12th These are some of the photos taken in Muskogee at the KELLY B TODD Walk in I was personally told by several people including the organizers that we were the biggest hit of the day, by far. They have ask once again for the local Treasure Hunting Clubs to put the Kids Hunt on again this year. What we need is a lot of volunteers. We need people to help the kids hunt, people to run the prize booth and just people to help promote our hobby. We also need metal detectors for the kids to use during the hunt. The CEREBRAL PALSY NEURO- MUSCULAR FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization that has a center located in Muskogee. The Center has delivered physical therapy to children with physical challenges in the Muskogee area at no cost to the families for 33 years. This is the biggest fund raiser of the year for them. This event is open to the public at no cost. There is a walk, silent auction, game booths, horse back riding and of course metal detecting for the kids. This event is really a big deal for the kids as well as the grownups. If you were here last year you know how much fun it was and if you weren t ask someone that was. The Center has received several prize donation for us to give away. What We Need: Lots of Volunteers Metal Detectors More Volunteers What You Can Expect: Lots of fun. A great & a very rewarding time. Directions: Located at Civitan Park, on the east side of Muskogee, approximately 1 mile west of the Muskogee Turnpike s Gibson Street exit. The park is located directly across from the Oklahoma School for the Blind. They also offer T-shirts (Tye-Dye) w/the Kelly B. Todd Walk and a list of the sponsors on them. This includes our Clubs. They are $10.00 each or $25.00, for a family (includes 3 shirts). If you are interested give me a call. They are taking orders till May 1 st.
