2 President s Message At last, a break in my lifestyle to sit and ponder the task I chose as President of the PTCNYB. There a number of reasons such as who else wanted to be President, why keep this thing going, I have enough things to do, and it sure is fun to write articles when I could be trading pins with friends and new traders. Lion Gerry has done a fine job over the last 2 years. He has kept us informed and promoted pin trading. He offered to be the Editor of Pin Points and was the only candidate. Thanks Gerry. The rest of us officers enjoyed the ride except for Lion Rick Elliott. He not only took on the role of treasurer, he became the keeper of the membership list. Rick has agreed to formally become the Secretary/Treasurer. Just like our NY forefather pin traders envisioned in the original Constitution of PTCNYB. There have been lots of other MD20 helpers of our group and I applaud your effort. I will try to mention each of you as we go thru the year. The two big upcoming events in our PTCNYB life is the Northeast Swap in RI and the NY Swap and Auction at Camp Badger. The Northeast Swap has put stress in my life in two ways. It is the same weekend as the Churchville Country Fair.(My home Club and I still plan to dunk chickens on Sunday) and the question of whether or not the Northeast Pin Swap should change its concept of moving from state to state hosted by that state s Club or establishing a single location (Similar to the Moline Swap) with rotating host Clubs. Pros include: 1. Long term contracts can be signed for monetary advantages. 2. Smaller state trading clubs can host with help from their friends. 3. A consistent format with small wrinkles can improve each aspect of the Swap versus reinventing the swap each year. Cons include: 1. Missing the opportunity to travel to a different area of the Northeast to enjoy a couple days of sightseeing and food. 2. The hosting club loses it's abilities to show off what's in their area. 3. The host has to bring most of their local supplies for the swap and hospitality. 4. We all lose the chance to show off pin trading to local new pin traders who might not want to travel long distances. 5. Some pin traders would rather spend there money on pins versus hotel room rents. This topic was briefly discussed at our Annual meeting at Rochester with both sides represented. So, if you would like to have it in one place, let me know what you are willing to chair when it is our turn (probably 2012) by August 10.

3 If you would like it to come to your area, let me know what aspect you are willing to chair by August 10. I will be working on finding facilities and prices in the Brockport area similar to the last Northeast that PTCNYB hosted. Please feel free to me at mgmorri@rochester.rr.com with comments. On a final note, Lion Gerry ed a note to all on two topics. The results are not all in. We are still waiting for the final response. But the 5 winners will be announced in an article in this edition and will receive a Lion Mike Seabee pin. Thanks to those who responded. At the MD20 convention PTCNY&B raised a total of $759 for Camp Badger: $391 from the pin auction, $148 from the vest raffle and $220 from pin sales. Lion Carmen Sanchez, a Lion from New York City was the vest raffle winner at the MD20 Convention in Rochester. Congratulations, Lion Carmen. Lion Carmen is not currently a PTCNY&B member. Does anyone know her and could act as her sponsor? An application is on page 12.

Next May's Syracuse Convention will have a full 90 swatch auction including 3 other states' swatches of about 40 annual pins.

14 LITPC Announces Scholarship Program At the LITPC Annual Meeting, incoming President PDG Jim Minnich announced that the LITPC Board of Directors has established a Youth Scholarship Program. The purpose of the Youth Scholarship Program is to provide a $2,500 scholarship each year for the children or grandchildren of Lions or for Leos. The most important aspect of the Youth Scholarship Program is to help a graduating senior pursue his/her education. By doing so, we have an opportunity to give a deserving young person a hand-up to follow their dream. What better way could there be to follow the spirit of Lionism? As we promote our Youth Scholarship Program, we will create a positive awareness of pin traders to the world of Lionism. Lions will want to join an organization that provided $144,000 for Campaign Sight First II and are now helping the youth of our Lions family. Additionally, we will be involving our pin trading family in supporting and promoting our LITPC Youth Scholarship Program. This is truly a win/win situation. Each member of the LITPC family will be asked to help fund the Youth Scholarship Program in any way he/she can and on a strictly voluntary basis. Lion Jim announced the establishment of the William A. Smith Fellowship in recognition of Lion Bill s many years of contributions to the LITPC. Lion Bill will receive the first William A. Smith Fellowship which was funded in the amount of $1,000 by donations from 31 of his LITPC friends. Each fellowship will be numbered consecutively with Lion Bill s being #1. Many Lions have already begun their individual efforts to fund the program by selling duplicate pins from their stock as well as making cash contributions. PTCNYB Digital Image Catalog The 2011 edition of the PTCNYB Digital Image Catalog is still collecting new MD-20 pins for the Sept. printing date. Lion Bob denormand and I shoot to have this ready for the fall pin swaps around the world. Over 3300 pins are in the catalog now. One of the reasons for an annual edition is to include any old MD-20 produced pins that are found since the previous catalog. Lions Howard Yonce and Grant Curtis have sent some interesting MD-20 pins that have been added to this year's edition. About 100 to 150 new pins are added each year. It behooves each of us chasing MD-20 pins to order a new catalog or an update. We have been shown some interesting variations of existing pins over the years. Each one is researched and a decision is made if it is a new pin to the catalog or maybe a sample of an existing pin. This catalog is published to encourage an interest in MD-20 but is not intended as a record of every pin ever made associated with MD-20. So sorry traders, you can be proud to have these variations but we only publish what we believe to be the pin produced in quantity for the Club, Lion, activity or what ever. Send me a check for $35.00 per catalog or $5.00 for an update. We will send you one. All profit is given to the PTCNYB. Bob's wife works cheaply putting the pins in the computer. Mike Morris, PTCNY&B President 673 Whittier Road, Spencerport, NY 14559
