6 2011: New Gate Issues during break-in The Dalles Downstream Navigation Lock Gate Gudgeon bushing failures, gate vibration. 2012: Temporary repair for gudgeon bushing 1 replaced in December 2012 emergency lock outage Remaining 3 replaced during March 2013 lock outage 2013: Design Documentation Report Determine permanent gudgeon bushing repair Investigate gate vibration Determine corrosion control system Investigate gudgeon anchor replacement
7 Bonneville Downstream Navigation Lock Gate 2011: D/S Miter Gate inspection Skin plate/stiffener: quoin cracks Emergency repairs to strengthen pintle Gate no longer miters until fully loaded 2012: Gate fully instrumented Inspection: no further pintle corner cracking Resolving Remote monitoring challenges 2013: ROV inspection Corner stiffening seems to be performing well

14 MCR North Jetty FY 14 Capability (O&M) Two separate actions supported by the Major Maintenance Report: (1) Lagoon Fill: $10.32M (2) Critical Repairs: $13.25M Critical Repairs STA Lagoon Fill
15 North Jetty Lagoon Fill (O&M, $10.32M capability) Redirects overland flow away from the jetty structure Dissipates flow into a constructed sump Places gravel, sand and quarry stone on the landward side of the jetty to eliminate the tidal flow through the jetty All three actions will stabilize the North Jetty Root and its foundation Stabilization Areas Oct. 2012
16 MCR Jetties Future work beyond FY 14 Jetty A, North Jetty, and South Jetty rehabilitation (CG funding) Seven-year construction plan developed in the FY 12 Major Rehabilitation Report supporting $257.2M in jetty repairs (Approximately $31M for Jetty A, $79.8M for the North Jetty and $146.4M for the South Jetty Major Rehab Report actions support measures that will prevent frequent and costly emergency repairs in the future.
