It is through the support of sponsors that the Nordet team will reach his goal of winning the Racing Aeolus competition in The mechanical engineering program at the Université de Sherbrooke includes a major design project extending over the last two years of the baccalaureate. The Nordet major design project is an opportunity for team members to implement the knowledge acquired on the school benches into a project that goes through all stages of a design process. Teamwork, time management, administration, design, manufacturing and resourcefulness are part of the large amount of skills that team members develop through the realization of this project. Such a project requires the contribution of many partners, be it monetary, material or technical. This is why your help would be for us a guarantee of success. For you, this is an opportunity to promote your business both in Quebec and around the world. 3 THE PROJECT Since 2008, the Racing Aeolus competition is held annually in August, in Den Helder, in the Netherlands. A dozen teams coming predominantly from universities, participate each year in this competition to promote ingenuity and innovation in wind power. Almost all of them come from Europe and the only North American team taking part to the competition is the Chinook, from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). The competition goal is to achieve the highest vehicle efficiency against the wind. Efficiency is evaluated with the Wach number, which is the ratio between the mean speed of the vehicle relative to the wind over a distance of 500m. Currently, the world record is set with a Wach number of Therefore, after several analyzes and calculations, our team has set the ambitious goal of not only winning the 2017 edition of the competition, but to smash the world record with a Wach number of 1.15 or more.
