In the past decade the Economic Forecast Dinner has gradually become the premier gathering of the financial community in our region. Tonight s event brings together a large portion of our membership, twelve sponsoring institutions, and influential thought leaders of our industry. The evening should present you with many opportunities to socialize and network with your colleagues in addition to giving you unique perspectives on what this year might bring to the financial markets and the economy. Brown Partner & Fixed Income Strategist LORD ABBETT Zane Brown, Partner, Fixed Income Strategist is responsible for credit market analysis and strategy, enabling clients to gain context and further understanding of today's credit markets and how they relate to various fixed-income disciplines. He also is responsible for business development in Asia. David Kelly, CFA Chief Global Strategist J.P. MORGAN FUNDS Dr. David Kelly is the Chief Global Strategist and Head of the GIobal Market Insights Strategy Team for J.P. Morgan Funds. With over 20 years of experience, David provides valuable insight and perspective on the economy and markets to thousands of financial advisors and their clients. Greg Valliere Chief Political Strategist HORIZON INVESTMENTS Greg Valliere is the Chief Political Strategist at Horizon Investments, the fast-growing Charlotte firm that specializes in products that mitigate investor risk. Greg has nearly 40 years of experience following Washington issues for institutional and retail investors. Greg specializes in coverage of the Federal Reserve, tax and spending issues, and politics. 6 INVESTMENT RESEARCH CHALLENGE The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students gain real world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst and are tested on their ability to value a stock, write an initiation-of-coverage report, and present their recommendations. CFA Seattle is participating for the 7 th year and the competition is underway. The winner of this year s competition advancing to the Americas Regional competition during the week of April 11 th, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. Participating schools for 2016 are: Pacific Lutheran University Seattle University University of Puget Sound University of Washington Bothell University of Washington Computational Finance & Risk Management University of Washington Foster Business School Western Washington University Company presentations at subject company Esterline were held in October 2015 and each team s written report was submitted on January 8 th. Teams are in the final stage of the competition which will be an oral presentation in front of a panel of local experts in February. We encourage our members and guests to attend the oral presentations and will communicate details of the event to our mailing list when finalized.
