About Baja Concordia Baja Racing is a student-managed team within the Concordia SAE chapter that competes in the Collegiate Design Series Baja competition organized by SAE International.

2 About Baja Concordia Baja Racing is a student-managed team within the Concordia SAE chapter that competes in the Collegiate Design Series Baja competition organized by SAE International. Every year these competitions take place around the world, where upwards of 100 schools compete with their student designed, manufactured and tested all-terrain vehicles. The primary goal of these competitions is for students of different engineering specialties to design and build a single-seat all-terrain vehicle prototype to be presented to a fictitious firm for mass production. Over the duration of this extra-curricular project, team members are challenged to develop their engineering, project management and teamwork skills. By combining the theoretical knowledge obtained in the classroom with hands-on design and manufacturing, students are able to turn their ideas into physical realities; an enormous benefit to their studies and future careers. Why Sponsor us While we receive a large portion of our funding from Concordia University, a substantial amount must be raised through sponsorship and various forms of fundraising. We depend heavily on the generosity of our sponsors to finance our projects and allow the continuous operation of our team. By sponsoring Baja SAE, our sponsors experience in return the satisfaction of giving back to the community, of furthering student initiative and ingenuity, and encouraging creativity and passion. This co-curricular activity gives Concordia students the rare and unique opportunity to collaborate with peers in a fun and exciting environment. In return, Baja SAE can provide numerous forms of marketing and visibility for its sponsors. This includes, but is not limited to, logo placement on our vehicles, apparel and promotional material such as our website, banners and pamphlets and social media. Baja SAE is a truly unique experience! It allows you to apply the engineering theory to a real world project and develop your hands on skills. The experience gained through out your journey on the Baja team will be a great asset once you get on the job market differentiating you from others. David Courtemanche - 3rd Year Mechanical Engeneering From the coordinator Concordia BAJA Racing has made a critical advance in its organization. The 2015 vehicle we designed has competed in Épreuve du Nord and the SAE BAJA Maryland competition. The results were encouraging but there is room for improvement. We finished 9th during the winter competition in Quebec City and in the international competition, the team came in 49th out of 89. Despite several challenges faced, the BAJA team has showed extraordinary skill in organization, preparation and capacity to react to unforeseen circumstances. This year, the team aims for a podium position at all competitions and we have already taken steps to reach our goal. The CVT transmission system will be tuned to its full potential in order to reach the theoretical top velocity. The suspension will be optimized for better maneuverability and handling. The design of chassis will focus on a strength to weight ratio as well as ease of manufacturing. The brakes system will be more reliable and efficient. A big year is ahead of us with a whole new car that will be made from scratch. Frame and Steering - Redesign steel space frame from chromoly steel to increase stiffness to weight ratio, while improving on manufacturability and ergonomics of the vehicle.

Suspension and Drivetrain - Improve performance and efficiency of CVT drivetrain with the help of on-track testing and quick change gears. Frame and Steering - Redesign steel space frame from chromoly steel to increase stiffness to weight ratio, while improving on manufacturability and ergonomics of the vehicle. - Redesign suspension kinematics to increase maneuverability and handling during transient conditions. - Custom design steering system to improve steering response and feel for better drivability. Electronics and Data Acquisition. - Implement an extensive data acquisition system to gather live data for vehicle dynamics tuning. - Improve electronic feedback system such as live information relay to driver. Being part of Baja has allowed me to apply the knowledge I have learned in class. The work environment that being a part of SAE provides allows students to help students to better their understanding of engineering. Working with the team has allowed for positive criticism of my work so that I do not make these basic errors later on as well as set realistic goals for my projects. 4 Sponsorship Levels Budget We offer many forms of visibility and promotion to our industry partners. Our sponsors benefit from a bright audience: engineering students and faculty, both at Concordia and at many other universities who we meet at our competitions across North America. Our sponsors also benefit from promotion on the Concordia SAE websites and mentions on social media and on printed promotional material, from competition apparel to banners. The building materials consist of steel space frame, aluminum and steel billets. We also require electronic components such as ECUs, wiring and sensors. As for the competition, we have registration fees and team apparel with all the sponsors logos on it. Finally, to avoid charging its members for participation, the team pays for the gas, hotels, and vehicle rentals during the competition in the United States. Donations differ in that donors do not receive any marketing advantages. Being part of SAE is something that all engineering students should experience. It allows students to develop diverse skills and experience things that the university alone cannot offer through the classroom. Industry relies on engineers who have a good theoretical base, but be practical and aware of their decisions; SAE is an integral part of this being possible, helping develop key transferable skills such as team work, communication, and decision making.
