2 OSUIT- Present In 1946, OSUIT was purchased from the military, as a military hospital. That year, it s mission changed from medically serving our nation s returning injured World War II veterans, to retraining our injured veterans with workforce skills so they could return as successful members of society. 6 NATURAL GAS COMPRESSION Graduates are required to earn 60 hours of department specific coursework (88 total) Since 1999, OSUIT s Natural Gas Compression program has trained students from across the country to analytically diagnose, service and maintain gas compression equipment. Program trains students in: Gas compressor station operation, maintenance and repair Engine operating principles and overhauls Instrumentation, electric motors and motor control Ladder logic and PLC s ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES-NGC

7 NGC Program Enrollment One of my biggest challenges is finding enough qualified people to fill our operations and technician positions. 13 Each year, trillions of cubic feet of natural gas and billions of barrels of liquid petroleum products are delivered safely through the pipeline system in America; the equivalent of approximately 750 tanker trucks hitting the road every 2 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Clearly, pipelines are the safest and most reliable way to move these products. ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES-PIT

Electrical/Electronics Electrochemistry Corrosion Control Cathodic Protection Integrity Management Design Pipeline Assessment Risk Mitigation Federal & State Regulations Compliance Program includes an internship and culminates with NACE Level 1 Exam preparation.

Pipeline integrity planning for maintenance, regulatory compliance, risk management and threat identification is identified as an INGAA Critical Skill. (INGAA Critical Skill Forecast for the Natural Gas Transmission Industry Report) OSUIT s specializes in developing public/private partnerships and providing theoretical and applied learning strategies to help solve industry s workforce development needs, particularly in industry- identified critical skills.

Skilled Trades & Quality Control, and Regulatory & Compliance are two of the top five INGAA identified critical positions. OSUIT s Pipeline Integrity program is designed to prepare graduates with the technical and critical thinking skills necessary to assess and mitigate pipeline risks to reduce both the likelihood and consequences of undesired incidents.
