Important Info First! Save a Back-up Copy of this file: You are permitted to make one back-up copy of the Noah Pop-ups pdf file onto an external drive (and it is highly recommended). Terms and Conditions: You are permitted to use this resource for one local church OR one local preschool and your own family. This is a copyrighted resource. You are NOT permitted to share, upload, create derivative works, sell or distribute. Go to the MyBibleCrafts.com home page for the link to the full terms and conditions of all resources on the Bible Kids Fun Zone websites. Safety Tips: Please remember to keep all cutters, craft blades and scissors out of the reach of children. Its probably best to do the cutting at a time when children are not present. As you know, children like to imitate you. Keep caps and small craft supplies out of reach of young children, as they are choking hazards. Use nontoxic crayons and markers. This is not a full list of safety tips. Please refer to safety manual for more a more complete list of safety tips. How to Use Noah Pop-ups! You have lots of options with this Noah Pop-up Resource! Children's Pop-up Crafts: Print and make copies of the black and white craft pages for children to make up their own Noah's Ark moveable pages. See instructions to learn how to use them like a question-and-answer card-type of craft to facilitate learning the Bible story of Noah. You could use your own lesson plans, children's Bible or free resources along with these pop-up crafts. The sister websites also have Noah's ark Sunday school lessons that would work well with the Noah moveable crafts in this resource: and Color-Illustrated Pop-up Book: Teachers and parents can make up the complete Noah Pop-up using the color illustrated pages for a fun, interactive way to tell children the story of Noah's Ark, or just use the black-and-white version and have children or teens color the pages. Companion Story Booklet: God Showed Grace; Hooray for Noah's Faith. The booklet is the full rhyming version of the Bible story of Noah's Ark for parents and teachers to read to children for a complete, longer version. Use it with the Noah's Ark Pop-up book. Its lots of fun with interactive questions! There is a shortened version of the Noah story on the moveable story book pages themselves. Make-Your-Own Complete Noah Pop-up Story Book: Homeschoolers or teachers with small classes may want to have children make their own complete Noah Pop-up book! Print and make copies of the black-and-white craft pages for the children to color and make their own pop-up crafts for each part of the story you are teaching. After children complete all the crafts, on a review day kids can complete their own book by gluing the pop-ups and craft pages back-to-back and adding a cover. (Instructions included). Children will be proud to say Look what I made! Children will also be gaining valuable paper engineering skills, and fine motor skills while they color and fold, as well as learning how to follow instructions step by step, etc. (Parents and teachers can do the minimal pre-cutting for young children). All of these pop-ups and moveable pages were purposely made to be super easy. They each have only 1-2 pieces to cut out and glue or tape on, except for the 3D Pop-up Noah's Ark, which has three. Feel free to contact virginia@biblekidsfunzone.com if you have any questions. 3 Craft Supplies - Suggestions and Tips Craft knife or Utility knife These are usually found at any craft store or large department store. I suggest using one with a retractable blade or snap-off blade. Read all safety instructions. Glue sticks (Extra strength) I do NOT recommend using school glue, as it is too wet and will make the pages bumpy when it dries (unless its the stick type). Most regular glue sticks don't stick well enough for pop-ups. You'll need an extra-strength type. Here are two that I have found that work well. Other brands of extra strength glue sticks would probably work well also: Elmer's All Purpose Glue Stick Elmer's Washable School Glue Stick - Disappearing Purple Cardstock Cardstock is heavier, sturdier paper used to make cards. You can get it at any large department store or office supply store. Also, Amazon has several choices. You will need white for these pop-ups. These are plastic cutting mats that protect furniture. Self-healing Cutting Mat Restickable or Repositionable Glue Sticks Scotch and Elmer's brands both make various types of restickable or repositionable glue sticks. Look for ones that are non-toxic. You can also use regular glue for stickers as well. General Craft Instructions For Super-Easy Bible Pop-ups Printing Pop-ups: Print all Pop-up craft pages onto cardstock, except for the Animal Pull Strip page with the picture of Noah. See instructions below. Pop-up Book for Teaching and Storytelling: The color-illustrated crafts can be used to make a Pop-up book (or individual visual aids) as a fun way to teach the Noah Bible story or Sunday school lessons. Children's Crafts: Print black and white (bw) craft pages, and make copies on a copy machine to give to children to make up their own Noah Pop-ups. Saving Tips: To save on printing costs, print one copy of the black and white pages when making your own Noah Pop-up, Peek-In, and Pull-Out Book for children You could also ask teens to help you color and make up the samples as part of your church's Children's ministry. However, I advise against using markers on the pages, as it causes them to curl and not lay flat. Laser jet printers would likely be more cost effective for black-andwhite printing than ink jet printers. Check each model's stated output. Gluing: The best glue to use for these pop-ups is an extra strength glue stick, such as Elmer's Allpurpose Glue Stick, or Elmer's Washable Glue Stick, or other brand. Regular glue sticks usually do not stick well enough. Tips: School glue will work, but it makes the pages a little bumpy and does not really dry flat. If you use it on the back of the color copies, it could affect the color on the other side. Cutting: To safely cut (adults only) on the inside of a page (ie., windows on the ark or rectangles for liftflaps), use a craft knife or utility knife with a retractable blade (with just a small piece of the blade showing). Self-healing cutting mats will save the surface you are cutting on, and prevent slippage. Stickers - To make stickers repositionable, use restickable or repositionable glue sticks. Stickers included in this resource include, leaves for dove, flowers for the Rainbow Pop-up craft and extra animal stickers. Tips for Easy Folding: Take note of if the fold lines on each craft: if they are dashed or dotted. Here's how to fold each: Dotted Lines - Pull the dotted lines towards you as you fold them. This forms the pop-up part of the craft, and will form a shape that looks like mountain when folded. Dashed Lines - Poke the dashed lines away from you as you fold them. This line, when folded, will form the shape of a valley on the craft page when folded. Tabs - Tabs fold behind (or under) the glued-on piece. See individual craft instructions.

Instructions for Individual Pages - Pop-up, Peek-in and Pull-Out Noah Bible Story Crafts Companion Noah Story Booklet: (Half-size booklet with the full rhyming words of the story) Craft Sample Supplies: Craft Instructions Noah story booklet pages White copy paper Scissors (for adults) Non-toxic crayons Print and make copies of the half-size Saved By God's Grace - Hooray for Noah's Faith! story booklet first. Lift flap of rectangle; fold on dashed line. Craft: Children color pictures of people. Help children place glue on the white space around the outside of the Noah picture and glue to the back of the craft page. Press down to glue. Fold: Fold craft page in half vertically on the center dashed line, matching outside edges when folded. (The wood will make a mountain shape when glued, with page lying flat; but don't glue it yet). Saw: Cut out saw/hand piece, but cut straight across the serrated edge at first. Place a piece of tape on both sides of the serrated edge, flush with the edge. (This will make the buzz sound louder). Then cut the zig zags of the serrated edge, leaving the points blunt, not really pointed. Craft: Children color the pictures. Fold the saw blade lengthwise on the solid line, and glue to serrated edge. Fold the saw blade where it attaches to the handle by pushing the dashed line away from you as you fold, (like the center fold of the whole craft piece). Fold: Refold entire page in half vertically on the center dashed line, matching outside edges of craft page. Show children how the saw makes the buzz sound when you open and close it. Tip: You may need to push the saw one way or the other at its fold line to prevent it from slipping to the side of the slot.

Fold pull tab around pull strip, about 1/4 from end, and tape in place. Tips: Use only crayons to color. Wet markers will cause the wing to not work right. Also, using tape on the fold of the wing will cause it to not work right. You can tape the craft page below the slit, or on the side of the slits if they start to tear. (The wings break fairly easily after using them a while - an extra page of them are included to cut apart and give to children to take home with them). Just glue around the perimeter of the back of that half-page. With all pages glued together, bind them together loosely with masking tape: Tape them together without pressing them together. They need room to move. Check the cover for size by placing it over the bound book pages. Trim to size if needed. Then, fold the cover in half lengthwise to get a fold in the middle of the spine. Then fold again on each side of the middle fold about 3/16-1/4 to make the spine as wide as it needs to be. Fold cover over the book and glue to the back of first and last pages, making sure its straight. Optional pocket for stickers: You may wish to include an extra last page with a pocket for stickers. Cut off the ends of the envelopes to use as pockets (3-4 high). Fold the cardstock page in half like the others. Glue the pocket on the inside for children to keep their stickers for the book in: leaf for dove, flowers, extra animal stickers. Be sure to praise each child for all their hard work and excellent artwork! Craft Ideas for Extra Animal Stickers Craft Sample Supplies: Craft Instructions For Individual Crafts: Children can also use these to place on the front of the other craft pages (when folded) when making individual pop-up crafts. 9 Pop-up, Peek-In and Pull-Out Bible Story Crafts - Noah Bible Story Booklet Saved By God's Grace - Hooray for Noah's Faith! Based on Genesis 6:1-9:17 (Show Ungodly People and Noah picture) 1 There was a time when people were wicked to the core. God wanted to put a stop to it, so he said, 'No more!' People were fighting and stealing. Nobody cared. They were cheating and killing, and nobody shared. (Can you make a mean face and pretend you are fighting?) But there was one who was different - a righteous man: Noah! And his sons: Japheth, Shem and Ham. Noah had faith! He did what was right. Noah walked with God, each day and night. (Lift the flap to find Noah). Copyright Bible Kids Fun Zone God thought, I ll send a flood to wipe the whole earth clean! He'd give people time to repent; He wasn't mean. God said, I'll destroy the earth, Noah - people too! Build a boat for the animals, Noah - a floating zoo! I'll send a flood on the earth! Everything will be gone! But your family I'll save, Noah! Let's get busy. C'mon!

(Turn page to Noah and his Buzz Saw Pop-up) Noah and his sons starting building the huge boat! God showed him what to do, to make it float. Of course it had to be quite waterproof. It needed a door, a window, and a roof. Noah chopped and painted - hammered too. Let's help Noah! There's so much to do! (Let's pretend we're chopping wood and hammering nails!) 2 Noah sawed the wood; Made it just the right size. Noah did everything just as God advised. Buzz-zz, buzz-zz, buzz-zz, can you make the saw go? Noah followed God's design, making it just so! Open and close page to hear the saw's buzzing sound. For a very long time Noah worked hard with his sons. He didn't give up. Now the work was done! Uh-oh, I see a cloud! -- 'God wasn't kiddin'! 'Better round up the animals. I Hope we fit in! (Turn page to Jumpy Monkeys page) Animals of each kind would be getting on the ark. Outside would be the swimmers: the fish and the sharks. Some animals Noah took one pair; others, seven... (A pair of seven is how many? 2 X 7 is 14!) In just one week, rain would pour from heaven! Hurry, its time! Let s go inside! Get on board! Let's go for a ride! (Let s pretend we re running.) 3 Elephants, raccoons, birds that sing! Snakes and lizards, creepy crawly things. (Can you show me how a snake moves? ) Lions and hippos, tigers too. Rhinos and bears. What a zoo! Some animals hopped on; some slithered like a boa. Do you think you would like to be there helping Noah? (The monkeys are excited. See how they re jumpy?)

(Turn page to Noah s Family) Eight people in Noah's family would climb aboard. What a great adventure! Should they pray to the Lord? 4 There was Noah and his wife; Noah's sons and their wives. God had a wonderful plan to save their lives! Eight people, along with the animals, climbed onto the ark. Now they were safe inside, not out in the dark. (Read the names on each picture as you point to them.) People lived a lot longer way back then. Noah was 600 years old when the flood began! (Turn page to Shut the Door Pop-up) 5 At just the right time, with everyone safe on the ark... The clouds rolled in; the sky went dark. When the Lord shut the door, it made a loud THUD!!! It was time to pray because soon it would FLOOD! (Open page back completely to close door all the way).

(Turn page to Storm page) On that very same day, the deep springs burst! The heavens were opened; rain fell on the earth! Noah prayed for God to keep everyone safe on board; For 40 days and nights it rained and poured! 6 Only Noah was saved, and those on the ark. Outside the storm raged, lightening crashed in the dark. (Do you think you d be scared in the storm?) Rain came down from above; Water rose up from below. The ark floated on the surface, rocking to and fro. Flowers were covered with water; tree tops too. Even mountains were covered - Yes, it's true! (Turn page to Pop-Up Ark) For a very long time they had to stay on the ark. There'd be lots of work, not like a day at a park. There was mouths to feed and cages to clean. Do you think Noah might get a nap in between? With all the sounds that each animal makes, Aboard the ark, it would be a noisy place! I bet the bird room was the very noisiest of all. With the hoots and chirps, and many bird calls. Listen real close. Can you hear 'tweet, tweet'? I'm sure all the bird songs sounded so sweet! With all the fun animals, do you think there'd be laughter? What does a monkey say as he swings from the rafters? (eee, eee) 7 What sounds would we hear from a cage of snakes? (hiss) What scary sound does a lion make? (roar,) God kept the families safe; the animals too! If you were on the ark, would it be fun like a zoo?

(Turn page to Noah and Flappy - Pull-Tab page) The rain kept falling from the skies so gray. Noah and his family waited day after day. But God remembered Noah. He watched from on high! He made the rain stop falling from the sky. The Lord sent a great wind to blow all around. (Blow hard). As it dried up the water, it went down, down, down. 8 Noah opened the window for a raven. Out it flew! It kept going back and forth, not knowing what to do. It flapped its wings real hard. See him go!?(pull tab) There was still too much water down below. (Who wants to take a turn to make the raven fly?) (Turn page to Noah and the Dove Pop-up) 9 Next Noah sent out a dove to see what it would find. Water was still everywhere. It still needed more time. The next time he sent it out, it brought back a leaf. The third time, it didn't come back, to Noah's relief. Noah took off the roof. He could see dry ground! There was no longer water all around. (Let child place leaf sticker on dove s beak).

(Turn page to Exiting Ark Pull-Tab page) Finally it was time! God said, Come out now! Everyone rushed off -- pigs, hippos, cows!
