Printing and Making Copies Black and White: Print black and white pages (p ) on a black and white printer. Remember to enter the page numbers of the black and white pages if using a black and white printer. Make copies onto white copy paper, colored copy paper, card stock, colored card stock, magnetic inkjet paper, or sticker inkjet paper for some crafts (See instructions). Color: Print color-illustrated pages (p )on a color printer. Remember to enter the numbers of the color pages only. Make copies on a color copier,. (Also see Safety Tips regarding printing and making copies). Safety Tips For Making Crafts With Young Children Keep scissors out of the reach of young children. Keep all glue caps, marker caps, cotton, foam pieces, and other small items out of reach of children who are age 3 or under, as these items are a choking hazard. Use nontoxic crayons, markers, paints. Use washable markers and paints. Watch young children when they are using crayons to be sure they don't put them into their mouths. I would advise against using pages printed from an inkjet printer for children's crafts directly, as these inks can come off. The chemicals in the inks are a safety concern. Make copies that are to be used for children's crafts on a copy machine instead. Have an emergency plan in place in case of injury, ie., someone trained in First Aid procedures, emergency phone numbers on hand, a way to notify parents, etc. Concerning Inkjet sticker paper, I believe these inkjet sticker sheets are treated with something to prevent the inks from rubbing off, but check with the manufacturer for safety concerns. Saving Tips Printing: To save money on printing, use a laser jet printer for the black and white pages.(laser jet printers are usually much more economical then inkjet printers). Make copies on a copy machine. Print color-illustrated pictures using an color printer. Then make copies on a color copier. (See Safety tips re: printing also). To save on color inks, make copies of black and white pictures, and color them yourself or recruit teen helpers to make color-illustrated pictures. Crafts: Save scraps of fabric and construction paper to use for craft projects. Reuse paper from printing mistakes: Cut into 4ths, and staple several sheets together to make note pads. Use homemade recipes for glue and paint to save on craft supplies. If shopping online or search the term adding compare prices. Remember to add shipping costs. Stickers: Instead of using Inkjet Sticker sheets, make copies of sticker pages onto regular paper (color or black and white). 6 Palm Sunday Craft Instructions Palm Sunday Bible Story Pictures in Color Uses for Palm Sunday Pictures: (Print the color-illustrated pictures on a color printer. If you need more than one of each, you can either print more, or make copies on a color copier). Bible Story Pictures: Use the color illustrated pictures when telling children the Bible story of Palm Sunday. The story is found in: Matthew 21: 1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-40; John 12: Classroom Decorations: Use pictures to decorate walls or bulletin boards. Bulletin board idea: Glue photos of the children in your class on palm branches. Add words words of praise in large letters. Large Palm branches can be hung from the ceiling. Black and white (bw) palm branches can be used as patterns to cut out of construction paper. Crafts/Activities: Let children use large palm branches in a Palm Sunday parade to sing praises to Jesus, or when acting out a simple skit. Smaller palm branches and hosanna word blocks can also be used for your own craft ideas. Match Game: Reduce size, and glue images onto squares of the same size. Make two of each picture. Game: Turn pictures face down on table. Children take turns turning over 2 pictures, then place them face down again. When they get a match, they keep those pictures in their pile. The winner is the one with the most in their pile. Decals: Age 4+. Print on inkjet decal paper, and let children decorate notebooks and other personal items. Color-My-Own Palm Sunday T-shirts, Tote bags - Age 3+. Print black and white images on Inkjet iron-on sheets. Iron onto tote bags or child size t-shirts. Let children color them with fabric crayons or fabric markers. Giant Palm Branch: Draw a giant palm branch onto white or color paper. Let children place stickers on that.

Fuzzy Palm Branch - Age 2+ Prep: Print and make copies onto white copy paper. Craft: Place blank sheets in between the above 3 pictures. Collate pages in the order that the child wants, using two sheets of construction paper for the back and front for the cover, or one folded large sheet. Staple booklet together, and place tape over back of staples to avoid scratches. Have each child tell the story in their own words. It can just be a few sentences. Write each child's version of the story in their book. Help child think of a title. Write it on the Front cover. Children add Palm Sunday stickers on the blank pages and cover. Either copy Palm Branch craft page onto card stock, or cut out (using outside line) and use as a pattern to trace and cut out of green construction paper. Craft: Children glue the small branch onto the larger shape and glue the word block on top. Ideas: Use for Palm Sunday parades or plays.

Help children stuff wadded up plastic bags into paper bag, Fold up bottom corners, then fold up about 1 for the bottom of the Palm Character, and glue down. Children glue on arms, legs, eyes, word block. Help children draw mouth, edges of palm branch.

9 Palm Sunday Touch-n-Feel Craft Pictures - Age 3+ Boy, and girl craft page and Kids Touch n' Feel pattern page Either Donkey craft page and Donkey Touch n' Feel pattern page *Non-toxic crayons or markers Fabric scraps, multiple colors and patterns Scissors (for adult only) Glue sticks *Green construction paper Yarn or *polar fleece fabric (optional for age 4+) Prep: Print and make copies of the craft pages that you want to use. Print one copy of the matching Touch n' Feel Patterns. Cut out patterns, place on crinkled construction paper (for palm branches) or fabric (for clothes), trace and cut out. If using yarn for hair and donkey mane, tail, cut strips of yarn the appropriate lengths. Glue on picture. If using polar fleece for hair and donkey mane, cut strips the appropriate length, about 1/4 thick. Thin strips of polar fleece will also stretch and curl up to make curly hair. Make copies onto card stock or paper. Craft: Children color craft page (but not in between the feet). Adult cuts out pieces, and cut slits on Palm Character body, feet and hand. Children tape or glue arms to Palm Character body. Show children how to fold the feet piece on dashed line (so that feet are touching). Open part way and insert in slits on Palm Character body. Insert the rectangle that says "Honor Jesus..." in the slit on the hand. Boy booklet craft page, bw or color Prep: Print craft page. Cover: Make copies onto card stock or Girl Booklet craft page, bw or color paper. Booklet Pages: Use Palmshaped booklet as a pattern: Trace *Card stock, optional Stapler/staples onto blank sheet. Tip: Staple 3-4 sheets together with Palm outline *Nontoxic crayons, markers on top, to cut out multiple sheets at Scissors (for adult only) the same time. Donkey Visor Craft - Age 3+ Donkey Visor craft pattern Scissors (for adult only) Glue sticks *Green construction paper Stretchy fabric Hole punch * Activity idea: Children can wear the visors when going on a "praise parade" with noisemakers, children's instruments, homemade drums, singing praise songs to the Lord. Prep: Print craft page. Make copies onto card stock. Cut stretchy fabric into 12" lengths, 1" wide, to use as ties for visors. (For adult visors cut into 15" lengths). Punch holes on the ends of the visor on the black dots. Use palm branches as patterns to cut many palm branches out of green construction paper. Craft: Children color craft page. Teacher cuts out all pieces and punches holes. Children glue donkey and palm branches on visor. Insert stretchy fabric strips into holes, tie.

Prep: Print and make copies of craft page). Use 1 palm as a pattern. Cut out and place on construction paper. Trace. Cut a few layers together with pattern on top. Make 5+ palm branches per craft.
