Make a foam base of your Easter chick arrangement. a) Cut two or three rectangles out of Styrofoam or white insulation foam which you can buy at a home improvement store (White insulation foam is much cheaper than Styrofoam). Rectangles in this arrangement are 8.5 inches х 4.3 inches. Note: You can also use a brick of green floral foam. b) Glue these foam pieces together. c) Using a knife, cut your foam piece into a shape shown in the picture. It should look like a chick coming out of an egg.

Wrap the top with yellow tissue paper then wrap the bottom wider part with white tissue paper (it will make an egg shell). Step 3. Prepare yellow cellophane or tissue paper or sheer fabric. Cut it into square pieces. Attach each square to a toothpick with clear Scotch tape or white floral tape.

3 Step 4. Insert these yellow cellophane/tissue paper/fabric pieces into the yellow part of the foam base, covering it all around. Leave the space in front for the chick s face.

4 Step 5. Prepare candy pieces in yellow wrappers (for example, Werther s Original and Butterscotch candy). Attach candy pieces to toothpicks with clear scotch tape or white floral tape. European candy pieces were used in this arrangement. Step 6. Insert candy pieces into the arrangement (front view and back view).

5 Step 7. Buy or make eyes for your candy chick. In this arrangement, eyes were made with pieces of blue-gold crepe paper and blue beads. You can make a beak using two candy pieces with tucked wrapper tails.

Round out the corners so your foam piece looks like an oval. b) Wrap the foam in green tissue paper or crepe paper.

6 Step 8. Make a stand for the candy chick. It will look like a little garden. a) Cut a rectangle out of Styrofoam or white insulation foam. If you use crepe paper, you can stretch the edge of the strip, which you secured around the stand so it looks wavy. If you use tissue paper, you can make small cuts along the edge of the side strip so it looks like grass.

7 Step 9. Using hot glue, place the candy chick on the green stand. Step 10. Decorate the stand. a) Add some decorative grass around the chick.

8 b) Make candy flowers for the stand. You can use cellophane or crepe paper as in this example. A continuous petal method was used to make flowers for this arrangement. Cut a strip of crepe paper in a continuous petal pattern.

Once strip is wrapped, stretch floral tape and wrap it around the base of the flower several times. Go down the stem a little bit.

9 Wrap the strip of petals around the candy piece that is attached to a toothpick or a piece of wooden skewer. You may need to pleat the base of the strip as you go; pinch it together occasionally, and press folds in place. Cup petals outward, then curl petals outward using a wooden skewer or a pencil. Insert candy flowers in the foam stand. c) You can add beautifully shaped wire pieces. You can bend chenille wire to create beautiful shapes; then glue the pieces to the stand. Or you can take 18 or 20 gauge wire; wrap it with green tissue paper or crepe paper. Bend the wire pieces into shapes as shown in the picture. d) You can add additional decorative elements to your arrangement.
