3 Directors This is the fifth Follies that I have directed, usually, thankfully in conjunction with a co-director. My thanks must go firstly to Simone for joining in. The Follies is a great Warrandyte tradition and we have brought you an action packed show full of original songs, music and sketches with just a little that has been borrowed. We used a sketch from the UK Sketch Show at auditions and laughed so much we decided to leave it in the show. We have a creative and dedicated team of writers and actors and back stage crew and if you are sitting there thinking could I give it a go, then the answer is a resounding yes! This year we have 7 new actors on stage. We have young actors and older actors (obviously!) We have students, scientists, mechanics, IT staff, teachers, managers, court staff, seamstresses, social workers and luckily psychologists. Anyone can do Follies just hop up, join in and take a little risk; we re here to support people get involved in our community theatre. For many, the Follies is the starting point for deeper involvement in the Company; everyone is welcome. When I say anyone can do it, there has a lot of hard work of 8 intensive weeks. The cast deserve thanks and a huge hand for the work they have done in bringing this show to life, their dedication, commitment and support for each other. My thanks also to Richard our Musical Director, and Matt on piano, Jen for Producing, Liz for Stage Managing and Lisa for her backstage work. Colette for stepping in (and out) in doing a great job with choreography. Noelene for coordinating props and Gay, costumes and to all the cast for their commitment, flexibility and skills. Thanks too to Ian for the lighting design, Sam & Stuart for lights, Ben for sound design and Aaron for operation, Karl for the set building, David for publicity, Jock Macneish and Denise Farran for set painting and Rob Black for the program and short film. A huge thanks to all the writers without whom there would be no show and to Matt and Lawrence for picking up and running with the film challenge. Adrian Rice As a first time director of something as huge as the Follies, I muddled into this role with much hesitation and trepidation. However Adrian thankfully took me under his wing with great encouragement and reassurance. I must confess that he and Richard have done far more than me to get this show up and running. In an effort to not repeat, I concur with Adrian in my appreciation to all the people he mentioned who have helped make this Follies so great. I would especially like to thank everyone involved for their patience and good humour, when I know at times it has been tested. I hope you all enjoy the show and agree that this is the Best Follies Ever Simone Kiefer 3

5 Musical Director I ve had a ball being Musical Director, loved having the opportunity to contribute to our local Warrandyte community, and to be part of the WTC. Thanks WTC! Many thanks to the directors Adrian and Simone, you guys are great. It s been fantastic to hear the cast and band member musicians bring the Follies music to life. Thanks you lot. The Warrandyte Theatre Company relies on the volunteer efforts of its long standing and new members. A great way to unleash your inner talent or to find your feet as a writer, producer, director or set designer. WTC is committed to four productions a year, including The Follies, the Youth Theatre, the One Act Plays and the Spring/Summer production. We are looking for new members to assist in all roles from being on stage, to back stage, front of house, sound and lighting. There are many roles to fill in running any production and the community has supported the Warrandyte Theatre Company for many years now, and with your continued support, for many more to come. What we have achieved with very little is fantastic, although I am calling out to you, the community to assist, to extend your interests from being patrons, to be involved on and off stage. We would like to grow in numbers, expand in all areas and add your expertise to make this Warrandyte community theatre better, stronger and enduring.
