1 President: Boris M. Struk Editorial Logistics: Grant Sheldon VOLUME 79 issue 21 November 26, 2013 A busy week in Rotary: Approximately 20 Rotarians old and new (including Andrew Lowcock) clean up graffiti, rubbish and weeds etc in Russell St Essendon. Well done Simon and Community Committee plus all attendees. Rotary Foundation recognises Lisa Lowcock with PHF Sapphire for her support of Polio Plus. AGM held. Main item on the agenda was 2012/13 Treasurer Glenn Smith presenting accounts that had been audited by past member John Gregory. Thanks Glenn, Thanks John. Peter Halaseh confirmed as 2015/16 President Elect. Presentation from Kangan Institute (Grant Sutherland CEO and Dianne Semmens) of funds for BahayTuluyan Grant Sheldon gave his RRR presentation. Great to see honorary Rotarian Noel O Brien at our lunch time meeting. Rotary Club of Essendon successfully defends Bill Early Trophy in Ten Pin Bowls with RC of Essendon North

2 For the diary: Reserve Sunday 2nd February 2014 as a 'must attend' event. Our traditional Australia Day BBQ at The Thomas' has given way to The Pepi's. This will be a wonderful opportunity to catch up with fellow Rotarians and Friends following the Christmas and New Year break. The Pepi's have kindly opened up their new home to conduct a fund rasier in support of Relay for Life. Refer flyer sent separately for more details or contact Michael Pepi. Fellowship Committee Meets NEXT TUESDAY 3rd Dec at home of Steve Chandler at 7.30pm. International Women s Day Breakfast Tuesday 8 March 2014 Want more details? Contact: Kerry Kornhauser Founder & Chair Women In Rotary President Rotary Club of Albert Park STOP PRESS: Bare Foot Bowls 29/11/13 postponed From DIK: Fellow Rotarians All, I have now been advised that a date for the delivery of the beds to St Vincent's has now been firmed up. It is now confirmed as Monday 30 th December! Previously, the beds were delivered over 2 days enabling us to fill the 2 X 40 ft containers similarly. This time the intention of the bed supplier is to deliver all 100 beds in the single day which will call for a considerably larger number of volunteers if we are to do the same thing and take delivery of all 100 beds and pack them in the single day. What the DIK store now needs is your confirmation of availability on Monday the 30 th December for the day to complete the task. I recognise that it is the holiday period and that might make it more difficult to get the number we need but on the other hand, it might just enable others to assist where the earlier date was during a normal work period. Regardless, can you advise your availability to be available on the 30 th December to deliver this task. The destination of the beds is still Chile and The Philippines. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Bob For the DIK Team.
