3 December Page 3 A Star Is Born Award Contributed by Dottie Doctor & Bob Day Dottie Doctor and Bob Day have created a Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills Award called A Star Is Born Award. The concept and story behind the Award is that about 15 years ago, Dottie worked in a small office, and for some reason felt the need to acknowledge people doing nice things for others, so the A Star Award Was Born was started, she left it on someone's desk asking that they enjoy it for a while and then pass it on to someone else, to say Thank You and You Are Special and any other kind message. Bec Cannistraci gave Dottie the idea for the club version of A Star Is Born Award because he gave her, his Service Hours well before she asked for them and then indicated (in jest) that he deserved some kind of award for being first, and so a new A Star Is Born Award was conceived. It's intent is to spread sunshine, and we notice, and we care, we hope our members look at it that way and that it makes us all smile, and know how much the club appreciates what you do for the club. The A Star Is Born Award was Designed and Sculpted by Internationally Renowned and Acclaimed Sculptor Bob Day, (well maybe just in Lincoln, no, maybe just in our Club, no, well maybe...). A Star Is Born Award Recipient Jack McCullough The A Star Is Born Award goes to Jack McCullough for all the time he has committed to the KCOLF Administrative Budget and KCOLFF Budgets. The Jack was nominated by Christine Cirrone, the previous winner for the 2018 Safety Awareness Day at First Street Elementary School. Thanks Jack for all you do for us. We appreciated all your efforts and your willingness to be Treasurer.

4 December Page 4 Volunteering at Placer Food Bank Contributed by Mary Luciano A group of seventeen Kiwanians participated in the Placer Food Bank. We sorted Fruit and Vegetables in Bags and sorted Non-Perishable Food for those less fortune. We had so much fun! It gave us a chance to get to know each other better while doing something for our community. Stay tuned for more news from Bob Day in January. Check out our photos. 5 December Page 5 Kiwanians Bring Smiles on the faces of 4 Families Adopted for the Holidays Contributed by Mary Luciano Michael Luciano, Mary Luciano, Debbie Flint, Hinda Weber, Alan Weber Our club was very busy this month. Our members were out shopping for four families who couldn t afford a Christmas without help from us. We purchased clothes, toys, underwear for all the Kids. For Mom and Dad we purchased clothing and special items requested by the family. Our club from our Foundation Account provided a total of $500 to help with this effort. I must say our members went all out on adding additional funding to make this year a special Christmas for these families. Special thank you to all of those Kiwanians who donated money, time and volunteered to wrap presents. Special thanks to Kathy Bannon, Hinda and Alan Weber and Debbie Flint who volunteered to manage the family list to assure all the items were purchased and wrapped. You guys are Fabulous!

6 December Page 6 K-Kids Creating Holiday Spirit at Summerset Senior Living Facility Contributed by Patty Covey & Mary Luciano K-Kids made Door Hangers for the residents of Somerset Senior Living and made the day festive by singing Christmas Songs. Geared with Headbands that looked like Reindeer Antlers or Christmas Trees, our K-Kids put smiles on the residents faces. With a little bit of encouragement, everyone began to join in on the Christmas Songs.

9 December Page 9 CNH Division 44 Council Meetings (DCMs) DCMs are held on the second Monday of the month at the Free Methodist Church, 8790 Oak Avenue, Orangevale CA, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Dinner is served at 5:30 pm and the meeting starts at about 6:00 pm. Cost is $10.00 for Dinner, or $5.00 for Dessert Only. The Division Council Meetings or DCMs as members commonly refer to it, are meetings where members from all fifteen clubs in Division 44 get together to share successes, plans, concerns and have fun. All members are welcome as are guests. We are frequently joined by representatives from other Divisions, our Key Club & Circle K Club Division Leadership. The next DCM Meeting is on Monday, January 14th. Community Service Hours In November, 26 Members performed Community Service Hours, directly serving the Community of Lincoln. Community Service during the year includes: Key Club, BUGs, K-Kids, Healthy Snacks, Carlin C. Coppin Elementary School, Sheridan Elementary School, First Street Elementary School, Creekside Oaks Elementary School, Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce, Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center, Summerset Senior Living, Fundraising Events: Valentines Dinner & Dance, Golf Tournament & Fireworks Sales. Meeting Attendance Attendance for the November 7th Meeting was 19 Members, and November 16th Meeting was 18 Members.
