3 3 PRESIDENT S REPORT Hi to all Members As you are all aware this is the last president's report I make as it is time I moved on and gave some one else the reigns and I thank the club and the members for allowing me to lead the club for the last three years; been an experience but with pleasure. I asks the members to give the incoming president the same cooperation I had. I will take this opportunity to thank all instructors and assistant instructors for their dedication to their voluntary duties; it is through this dedication that helps make this club work so successful. Well done by you all! The silent auction on the club Gemmasta facet machine had a good response. A total of four bids were received and they were opened at the committee meeting on the 13th of May. The lucky bidder was Dean Metcalfe $ I congratulate Dean on your successful bid; thanks to the other bidders; better luck next time. We also wish Dean lots of success and enjoyable moments. Our first facet machine went up to Horst Ricker at Rubyvale where it has been over-hauled and is on it way; all within two weeks. Thanks Horst for such quick service. Thank you Chez Siwka and Stephen Profke for packing it so it traveled without damage, not forgetting to thank Ken Wilks for making the crate for transporting our facet machines; Horst was really impressed with the handlers. Thank you goes to all the helpers who made Saturday night the 3rd of May barbeque such a success; that includes members who assisted in setting up, cooks, washing uppers and packing uppers, also your selves for attending. I will mention one name, Dale Davis, for the great entertainment she provided, an enjoyable night; credit to you all! We have our first six wheeler nova grinding machine up and running. Please members, use this machine within our club room instructions, if unsure please speak to the instructor of the day. The second machine is not that far from a start up; thanks again to Ken Wilks making all the adjustments. The Club has replaced nine power point switches in the cabbing room to water proof switches. Please make yourself familiar with their working. We would like these switches taken care of as the changeover was not cheap; after all it's for your safety. My final request for members. We are a month out from our yearly Gem Show. It is time where all shoulders are required to be at the wheel in some capacity; tremendous amount of pre-show organizing has been done and we are approaching the time where we will be requiring your most valued assistance. Please speak to show coordinator, Jane-Ellen Toro, Wayne Schulz or myself where you would like to help. Members who assisted by doing such jobs as cleaning toilets, washing towels, cleaning club rooms, placing rubbish bins out for collection on Thursdays and replacing the diamond pads; your efforts did not go unnoticed; a big thank you. My apology if I missed any job out. Must mention what a wonderful surprise it was to see the nomination sheet fill up so quickly. When I last looked we were missing a secretary and a few other spots. "WE HAVE TO HAVE A SECRE- TARY. There has to be some one with secretarial skills; don't let that stop a successful A.G.M. Well Members that it from me; wish you all a great time at the club and may you keep creating beaut things and keep showing tolerance to fellow lapidarians.
