The candidate must be currently emplyed in a senir r supervisry painting psitin, r abut t be prmted t a paint supervisry psitin. The candidate must have at least 3 years relevant practical experience in the paint industry and be currently emplyed in a senir painting psitin OR alternatively must have passed all the mdules f the Paint Applicatrs Curse cnfrming t the Prtectin) PA1 syllabus. The candidate must have an ABET level 4 (Literacy) equivalent t 8 years schling (Standard 6 / Grade 8) and be able t read and cmprehend a Data Sheet and read and cmprehend a Quality Cntrl Plan (QCP). 2.0 OUTCOMES On the successful cmpletin f the curse, the candidate will have the knwledge and skills t perfrm the fllwing activities: t use paint specificatins t use a paint data sheet t use a Quality Cntrl Plan (QCP) t use standards that are referenced fr the cntract such as Clur standards (eg SABS 1091) be able t verify surface preparatin standards f cleanliness t ISO 8501:1:1988 and understand St and Sa levels f cleanliness and the definitin f Sa 2.5 (Awareness SA3 & SA2) understand varius abrasive grit materials and the blast prfile each grade will achieve understand the peratin f the abrasive blast cleaning activity in terms f: verifying the crrect grit t use and its quality(eg dry) cmpressr size water and il traps in place and regularly vented nzzle size needed nzzle pressure be able t measure the blast prfile be able t measure the nzzle pressure take crrective actin if the blast prfile is nt t specified limits
