1 Technical Infrmatin P997-LA05 Liquid Aluminum 2 used in repair prcess f Nissan KAB Super Silver TCB101 The fllwing prcess utlining the repair f Nissan KAB Super Silver paint scheme has been apprved by NEXA AUTOCOLOR. When repairing Nissan vehicles finished in this paint scheme, yu shuld cntact yur Nexa Autclr representative fr full dcumentatin n the apprved prduct systems and prcesses. DESCRIPTION: Nissan KAB Super Silver is a special effect silver clr which gives the paint a Liquid Metal appearance. Unlike a traditinal metallic r pearlescence this finish appears mre like Mlten Metal that wraps the entire vehicle. Because f the minute particle size f this special pigmentatin, light is reflected differently thus making this a very unique finish. The OEM prcess utilizes a specialized 4 cat system made up f a dark undercat, fllwed by a sanded clearcat, t which the tinted liquid metal is applied and then vercated by anther clearcat layer. See the fllwing illustratin; Final Clearcat Layer Tinted Liquid Metal Layer Sanded Clearcat Dark Undercat OEM Substrate / Primer The repair utlined in this dcument duplicates the OEM prcess as clsely as pssible utilizing prducts similar t thse used at the factry.

2 PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE: The damaged bdy wrk f the vehicle shuld be repaired using the Nexa Autclr apprved repair and undercating system fr the substrate f the bdy panels being repaired (Aluminum, Steel and Plastic etc.). Finishing the repair with Spectral Grey SG07, P HS Plus Primer Surfacer (prduct bulletin N4.1.2C) is recmmended as the grund cat. PREPARATION OF THE COLOR CHECK PANEL: NOTE: Due t the pssible variatin in clr n a particular vehicle as well as applicatin technique, it is essential that a clr check panel be prepared t align the clr befre applying any basecat clr t the vehicle. The clr check panel shuld be prepared as fllws: Mix and apply a SG07 sealer t the entire clr check panel insuring full cverage. Allw suitable flash times between cats. Allw the sealer t cmpletely dry then sand with P600 r finer befre applying the sandable clearcat layer. Mix and apply clearcat t the entire clr check panel. Tw cats shuld be applied s that enugh film build is present t allw fr sanding. The use f the fllwing Nexa Autclr apprved PPG clearcats are recmmended: P HS Prductin Clearcat, prduct bulletin N6.3.1 P Express Clearcat, prduct bulletin N5.9.2 P HS Plus Clearcat, prduct bulletin N5.10C P Express Clearcat LV, prduct bulletin N5.9.2C P HS Express Clearcat, prduct bulletin N5.9.4 P Prductin Clearcat, prduct bulletin N5.9.8 P Perfrmance Clearcat, prduct bulletin N5.9.6C Once the clearcat has fully dried, remve any range peel r texture with P1200 dry, then further refine the surface with P1000 Trizact wet t minimize any final scratches. NOTE: This sanding f the clearcat step is critical due t the leafing nature f the Liquid Metal material. Any imperfectin (dirt r sand scratches) will telegraph thrugh t the final finish. Mix the AQUABASE Plus Basecat frmula fr Nissan KAB Super Silver (Nexa Autclr Cde 7KAFB). The frmula can be fund n PAINTMANAGER r On-Line Clr. Reduce basecat 50% (2 : 1 rati) with P Waterbrne Thinner. Spray gun set up used is a 1.0 mm mm HVLP r Cmpliant. This prcess is t be sprayed exactly as yu will be spraying the vehicle t insure accurate clr alignment. Apply first X-pattern crss cat at full legal pressure at the cap with fluid set at 1 ¼ - 1 ½ turns pen and flash ff until matt (using air blwer). Apply a secnd X-pattern crss cat as yu did the first and flash ff until matt (using air blwer). If pacity r full cverage has been achieved, prceed t the next step, therwise apply a third X-pattern crss cat and flash ff until matt (using air blwer).

3 Apply ne duble r triple mist cat at full legal pressure at the cap with fluid set at ¾ turns pen and flash ff until matt (using air blwer). Care shuld be taken t apply this final basecat layer very dry and even withut any wetting up f the basecat. Allw the basecat t flash fr minutes befre clear cating. Mix and apply clearcat t the entire panel. The use f the fllwing premium Nexa Autclr and Aquabase Plus clearcats are recmmended. If the clr achieved n the clr check panel is cnsidered t be blendable t the car prceed t the sectin GROUNDCOAT PREPARATION AND SANDABLE CLEAR APPLICATION. If tinting f the clr is necessary, tint utilizing tners within the riginal frmula and prepare an additinal clr check panel and re-check. Cntinue in this fashin until a blendable match is achieved. Nte: The factry Nissan KAB clr is exhibiting mre variability than nrmally seen in an OEM vehicle and shuld the clr check panel nt generate a blendable match t the repair area, please cntact yur distributr f PPG Sales Representative fr assistance. GROUNDCOAT PREPARATION AND SANDABLE CLEAR APPLICATION: Preparatin f the substrate is perfrmed in the same manner as the clr check panel with the exceptin f the blend panel. Preparatin fr the blend panel will require finer sanding as described belw. NOTE: It is imprtant t achieve full cverage r pacity when repairing this Nissan KAB Super Silver clr. The use f SG07, P HS Plus Primer Surfacer will prvide the best reference as t when full cverage has been achieved. Sand the SG07, P HS Plus Primer Surfacer (grund cat) with P600 grit r finer befre applying the sandable clearcat layer. Mix and apply clearcat t the entire repaired panel. Blending f this clearcat layer is nt recmmended. Apply clear edge t edge. Tw cats shuld be applied s that enugh film build is present t allw fr sanding. The use f the fllwing Nissan apprved Nexa Autclr clearcats are recmmended. Allw the basecat t flash fr minutes befre clear cating. FINAL CLEARCOAT APPLICATION: Mix and apply clearcat t the entire repair area. The use f the fllwing premium Nexa Autclr clearcats are recmmended. Avid verwetting as mvement f the Liquid Aluminum material may ccur resulting in bltchiness. Allw the first cat f clear t flash. Apply as secnd full cat f clear. A third full cat f clear may be applied if necessary. Fllw the apprpriate prduct bulletin recmmendatins fr bake r air dry. If necessary and t achieve the smthest pssible final finish, sand with P1200 r finer (dry) and then re-apply the clearcat.
