ACES (Aftermarket Catalg Exchange Standard) is the Nrth American industry standard fr the management and exchange f autmtive catalg applicatins data. With ACES, suppliers can publish autmtive data using standardized vehicle attributes, parts classificatins and qualifier statements. ACES als prescribe a machine-readable frmat (XML) fr trading partners t use in exchanging vast amunts f catalg infrmatin electrnically. PIES (Prduct Infrmatin Exchange Standard) is the best practice fr the management and exchange f prduct attribute infrmatin in the aftermarket industry. 5 What s in ACES r PIES ACES PIES Databases Vehicle Cnfiguratin Database (VCdb) The VCdb is subscribed by Vehicle Type, meaning yur subscriptin prvides access t a subset f the recrds in VCdb. Yu can purchase multiple subscriptins fr access t the cmplete VCdb. Prduct Classificatin Database (PCdb) Qualifier Database (Qdb) Brand Table Prduct Attribute database (PAdb) What vehicle types are included in the different VCdb subscriptin packages? 4

6 The VCdb has 2 subscriptin levels ffered: 1. Light Duty / Pwersprts a. Light Duty includes cars, trucks and vans in weight classes 1-3 b. Pwersprts includes ATV s, Off-Rad Mtrcycles, Street Mtrcycles, Persnal Watercraft, Scters, Snwmbiles and Utility Vehicles 2. Medium/Heavy Trucks a. Medium/Heavy Trucks includes trucks and vans in weight classes 4-8 What vehicles are included in each f the available vehicle type grup VCdb subscriptins? Each Vehicle Type Grup includes vehicles frm 1 r mre regins with varying mdel year cverage. The VCdb, bth Light Duty/Pwersprts, and Medium/Heavy Trucks subscriptins, cntain vehicles intended fr sale in Nrth America: United States Canada Mexic Grey market vehicles (vehicles intended fr ther regins, but independently imprted int Nrth America) are nt included in the VCdb. Vehicles intended fr ther regins f the glbe are nt included in the VCdb. What frmats are the ACES / PIES standards available in? The ACES / PIES databases (VCdb, PAdb, PCdb, Qdb, and Brand Table) are available fr dwnlad in any f the fllwing frmats: Access 2007 ASCII MySQL SQL Server 2008 R2 What s Nt in ACES r PIES There are a few miscnceptins in the industry surrunding the ACES / PIES standards and the cntent cntained as well as their use thrughut the industry. ACES and PIES are nt an industry-wide nline catalg lkup tl fr catalg fitment data and cmpetitr s applicatins and part numbers The ACES databases will nt prvide an industry-wide data repsitry with yur cmpany s r yur direct cmpetitr s catalg applicatin data and part numbers. Yur cmpany wuld maintain the vehicle applicatins that each part fits either thrugh an internal catalg sftware system r created by ne f the industry s service prviders fr yu. 6

8 The VCdb, alng with the ther ACES standards prvides the cdes t transmit this data t yur trading partners, electrnic catalg cmpanies, r retailers selling yur parts. It is the cmbinatin f yur researched catalg fitment data and the cded infrmatin frm the ACES standards that then frm the ACES XML delivery file that ges t yur trading partners. ACES and PIES d nt include OEM applicatins and part numbers The VCdb wuld supply the ID s fr the vehicle as well as the valid vehicle attributes, hwever it wuld nt supply the OEM part numbers and fitment ntes fr the parts n thse vehicles. There are service prviders that prvide OEM numbers and fitment ntes linked t the ACES VCdb vehicles if yur cmpany subscribes t the VCdb. Receiving this infrmatin cded t the VCdb wuld then facilitate merging it with yur catalg applicatin data and Vehicles in Operatin (VIO) infrmatin. ACES and PIES des nt include prduct and part number specific ppulated attribute data The Aut Care Assciatin maintains the standards by which bth ACES and PIES data is cmmunicated between supplier and receiver. We d nt maintain r have access t supplier s actual part number specific prduct attribute data fr varius prducts available in the industry. Suppliers f the prducts (hard and cllisin parts) prvide that infrmatin t the cmpanies purchasing their prducts. This enables the receivers t display the prducts fr sale t the end user. If yur cmpany maintains an e-cmmerce platfrm, the supplier s prducts yu sell wuld supply yu with the ACES and PIES data, hwever yur cmpany wuld need an ACES and PIES subscriptin t translate the data submissins int infrmatin t display n yur site. ACES and PIES are nt an nline catalg lkup tl The Aut Care Assciatin maintains and publishes the ACES and PIES Industry standards which are utilized by suppliers and receivers wh are transmitting and maintaining applicatin and prduct data, but we are nt a data repsitry fr prprietary catalg fitment and prduct infrmatin. The ACES standards are nt a sftware prgram, but the standardized cded values fr transmitting Prduct and Vehicle infrmatin t yur trading partners. Bth Prduct and Vehicle infrmatin are shared between supplier and receiver by way f an XML delivery file and we prvide the ACES standards t translate the cded values t text fr catalg systems utilized thrughut the industry. 8
