1 Trubleshting Guide StarFire Satellite Changes This guide is updated t reflect the sftware frm NavCm which is related t the StarFire satellite and frequency changes. This guide will step yu thrugh retuning the StarFire receiver t track changed satellite assignments fr the StarFire Netwrk via NavCm s StarUtil prgram. Prblem - FCC Natinal Bradband Plan asks fr mre mbile bradband The FCC is lking t repurpse underutilized L-band satellite spectrum bth abve and belw the GNSS L1 band Mving StarFire t a higher L-band frequency t make designing rbust filtering less challenging Reslutin Update the receiver t the current release, as defined in the table abve. Current prducts updated with the new firmware (versin v3.5.x.x) will include an updated StarFire tracking table and an ver-the-air StarFire almanac feature which allws fr autmatic updating f the tracking table shuld any statellites r almanac feature fr frequency changes which might ccur in the future. This feature, the added capability f GLONASS in StarFire, the accuracy imprvements t <5cm and futher planned imprvements (dn t ask, we can t tell) are all gd reasns t cnsider upgrading frm the discntinued prducts t the current prducts. The new sftware table was increased t handle up t 20 StarFire satellites. Sftware fr discntinued prducts des nt cntain an updated StarFire tracking table. Fllw the directins belw t manually tune a discntinued receiver t the new frequency. There are tw phases f StarFire frequency changes. Net 2 StarFire frequencies were changed n Nvember 1, Net 1 StarFire frequency changes will take effect June 12, Graphical representatin f the new glbal ftprint is prvided at the end f this dcument.
