1 Micrsft PwerPint 2007 Finding Presentatins n the Web Open the Internet and g t Click n Advanced Search. Enter wrds r phrases t describe desired results. On the File Frmat line, click n the dwn arrw and chse Micrsft PwerPint (.ppt). Click n the Ggle Search buttn at the tp. Using PwerPint Presentatins n the Web Playing a PwerPint Presentatin Navigate t the PwerPint presentatin. Click n the link. Click n the Open buttn. The presentatin pens in PwerPint 2007 Saving a PwerPint Presentatin Navigate t the PwerPint presentatin. Click n the link. Click n the Save buttn. Navigate t the lcatin where the presentatin is t be saved. Ntice the name f the presentatin and change if desired. Click n the Save buttn. Starting PwerPint On the Start buttn, click n All Prgrams Micrsft Office Micrsft PwerPint. Opening a Presentatin On the Micrsft Office Buttn and then click n Open. Navigate t the lcatin f the PwerPint file. Chse the name f the file and click n the Open buttn. Help Click n the Micrsft Office PwerPint Help buttn in the tp right crner. Type the desired wrd in the search bx and then press the Enter key. Chse the desired tpic frm the nes displayed. T research anther tpic, enter the desired wrd in the search bx and then press the Enter key. Nte An active Internet cnnectin will find mre results. Outline and Slides Pane On the left side is the Outline and Slides Pane. The Outline tab displays an utline f the presentatin.

2 Text can be entered directly int the utline. The Slide tab shws thumbnails f each slide. Click n the desired slide t display it in the Slide Pane. Click n the X at the tp right crner f the pane t clse it. T bring the pane back, n the Ribbn, click n View tab and in the Presentatins Views grup, click n the Nrmal buttn. Slide Pane In the middle f the screen is the Slide Pane. This is the wrking area mst peple use. Ntes Pane At the bttm is the Ntes Pane. Ntes fr the presenter can be entered in the Ntes Pane. Ntes are assciated with the slide that is shwing. Nte The ntes d nt shw up when viewing the slide shw. There is an ptin t print the ntes. Changing the Size f the Panes Place the cursr ver the line that divides the panes. (The cursr changes t a tw-headed arrw.) Click and drag t the desired size. Zming in n the Slide in Nrmal View The Zm bar is in the bttm right crner f the windw. Click n the Zm slider and drag it until the slide is the desired size. T make full use f the size f the Slide Pane, click n the Fit slide t current windw buttn t the right f the Zm slider. Changing the View The view f the windw can be changed with buttns at the bttm right f the Outline and Slides Pane OR n the Ribbn, click n the View tab and in the Presentatin Views grup, click n the desired view. 3 Slide Srter View T change the rder f the slides, click and drag a slide t the new lcatin OR Cut and Paste: Right click n the slide t be mved and chse Cut. Right click n the slide at the desired lcatin and chse Paste. The new slide will be pasted after the selected slide. T change the size f the thumbnails, click n the slider f the Zm bar and drag it t adjust the thumbnails t the desired size. Viewing the Slide Shw in Play Mde On the Ribbn, click n the Slide Shw tab and in the Start Slide Shw grup click n the Frm Beginning buttn r the Frm Current Slide buttn. (Press F5 t play the slide shw frm the beginning.) OR t play the slide shw frm the current slide, click n the Slide Shw buttn lcated at the bttm right f the windw. Previus versins will be pened in cmpatibility mde. (Yu will knw if a dcument has been pened in cmpatibility mde because it will say cmpatibility mde next t the name f the file n the title bar.) Dcuments that have been pened in cmpatibility mde may nt have the same features n the Ribbn as dcuments created in r cnverted t the Micrsft Office 2007 versin, i.e. instead f SmartArt Graphics, it may be Design Gallery bjects. Dcuments created in previus versins f Micrsft Office can be cnverted t the Micrsft Office 2007 versin. An advantage fr cnverting dcuments t the newest versin is that it will give yu access t all the new features. T cnvert an pen dcument: Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn and chse Cnvert. Click n OK. Using the Muse Right clicking n the slide brings up slide shw ptins. Using G t Slide Right click n the slide. Click n G t Slide and chse the desired slide frm the list.

4 Starting a Blank Presentatin Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn and then click n New. In the Templates pane, click n Blank and Recent. In the Blank and Recent pane, click n Blank Presentatin. Click n the Create buttn. Applying and Custmizing a Theme On the Ribbn, click n the Design tab. In the Themes grup, click n the Mre buttn lcated t the far right f the thumbnails. Click n the desired theme. Nte Hlding the cursr ver a theme withut clicking displays the slide with the theme. This als applies t each f the chices mentined belw. In the Backgrund grup, click n the Backgrund Styles buttn and chse the desired backgrund. In the Themes grup, click n the Clrs buttn and chse the desired clr scheme. In the Themes grup, click n the Fnts buttn and chse the desired fnt theme. In the Themes grup, click n the Effects buttn and chse the desired effect. Applying a Theme t Selected Slides Click n the slide the theme is t be applied t. T select mre than ne slide, hld dwn the Cntrl key and click n the additinal slides. Click n the Design tab. In the Themes grup, right click n the desired theme and chse Apply t Selected Slides. Adding Mre Slides Click n the slide thumbnail where the new slide shuld g. The new slide will be inserted after the selected slide. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Slides grup, click n the dwn arrw f the New Slide buttn and click n the desired layut fr the new slide. Changing the Layut f a Slide Click n the slide thumbnail t be changed. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Slides grup, click n the Layut buttn and chse the desired layut. Entering Text Entering a Title Click n the title/subtitle field n the slide. Enter the text. Click utside f the text field when finished. Entering Bullets Click n the bullet text field. Type the desired text. Press the Enter key t mve t the next bullet. Press the Tab key t create sub-bullets OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Increase Indent buttn. T decrease the indentatin, hld dwn the Shift key and press the Tab key OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Decrease Indent buttn.

5 Cutting and Pasting Text Select the text t be mved. Press Ctrl X OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. Click where the selected text is t be mved. Press Ctrl V In the Clipbard grup, click n the Cut buttn. OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Clipbard grup, click n the Paste buttn. Cpying and Pasting Text Select the text t be cpied. Press Ctrl C OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. Click where the selected text is t be cpied. Press Ctrl V In the Clipbard grup, click n the Cpy buttn. OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Clipbard grup, click n the Paste buttn. Spell Check Right Click Crrect Right click n the wrd in questin. (The wrd is marked with red underscre.) Select frm the wrds at the tp f the bx OR n the Ribbn, click n the Review tab. Click n Spelling and use the Spell Checker as nted belw. Using the Spell Check On the Ribbn, click n the Review tab. In the Prfing grup, click n the Spelling buttn. Click n the Ignre buttn t leave the spelling f a wrd as it is. T change the spelling f a wrd, chse the crrect spelling frm the list f Suggestins and click n the Change buttn. Click n the Clse buttn when finished. Saving the Slide Shw Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn and then click n the Save As... buttn. Enter a title fr the slide shw. Be sure t ntice where yu are saving the slide shw. Click n the Save buttn. Saving t a Previus Versin Files created with PwerPint 2007 can be pened and wrked n in the lder versins, but a plugin is required. Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn and then click n Save As. Check the name f the slide shw and make changes as needed. In the Save as type bx, click n the dwn arrw and chse PwerPint Presentatin. Click n the Save buttn.

6 Text Bxes Creating a Text Bx On the Ribbn, click n the Insert tab. In the Text grup, click n the Text Bx buttn. Click and drag n the slide t create the text bx. Nte A text bx cannt be created within anther text bx. Mving a Text Bx Click in the text bx. Mve the cursr t the edge f the bx. Nte - The cursr changes t a fur-headed arrw. Click and drag the bx t the desired lcatin. Resizing a Text Bx Click in the text bx. Mve the cursr t a crner f the bx. (The bx at the crner is called a handle.) Nte - The cursr changes t a tw-headed arrw. Click and drag t change the size f the bx. Deleting a Text Bx Click in the text bx. Click n the brder f the text bx. Press the Delete key n the keybard. Text Appearance Changing the Fnt and Fnt Attributes Highlight the text. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Fnt grup, chse the desired fnt, fnt style, fnt size, r fnt clr. Nte The fnt size can als be changed by using the Increase Fnt Size and the Decrease Fnt Size buttns. OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Fnt grup, click n the Dialg Bx Launcher buttn lcated in the bttm right crner. Chse the desired fnt, fnt style, fnt size, r fnt clr. Click n OK. Nte - Sme resizing f the fnt takes place autmatically as mre text is added t a slide. Changing Text Justificatin Highlight the text. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, chse the desired alignment. Mini Tlbar The Mini tlbar is a semi-transparent tlbar which appears when text is selected. Highlight text t be frmatted. Use the buttns n the Mini tlbar t make the desired changes t the text. If the Mini tlbar has disappeared, right click n the highlighted text t bring up the Mini tlbar.

7 Bulleted and Numbered Lists Turning Off Bullets Click in the line f text that is bulleted. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Bullets buttn. Switching frm Bullets t Numbering Highlight the desired text r click in the line f text. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Numbering buttn. Turning Off Numbering Highlight the desired text r click in the line f text. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Numbering buttn. Switching frm Numbering t Bullets Highlight the desired text r click in the line f text. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Bullets buttn. Mdifying Bulleted r Numbered Lists Highlight the desired text. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Bullets dwn arrw and then click n Bullets and Numbering. Fr bulleted text: Click n the Bulleted tab. Click n the desired type f bullets. Click n the Custmize buttn fr mre ptins. Nte - Chsing a different fnt will give ther chices fr bullets, (i.e. Wingdings, etc.) Click n OK. Adjust the Size as desired. Change the clr f the bullet as desired. Click n OK. Fr numbered text: Click n the Numbered tab. Chse the desired type f numbering. Adjust the Size as desired. Change the clr f the numbering as desired. Click n OK. Changing Line Spacing Highlight the text t be changed. On the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. In the Paragraph grup, click n the Line Spacing buttn and change the line spacing as desired. OR n the Ribbn, click n the Hme tab. Click n the Line Spacing buttn and chse Line Spacing Optins. In each f the sectins, make the desired adjustments.

8 Nte - The Befre paragraph and After paragraph chices in the Spacing sectin separate bulleted items and paragraphs. Click n OK. Changing the Slide Master Making changes t the Slide Master affects the entire presentatin. On the Ribbn, click n the View tab. In the Presentatin Views grup, click n the Slide Master buttn. The Slide Pane n the left displays the types f slides used in the presentatin. Hlding the cursr ver a slide type displays the name f the layut and the number f slides in the presentatin using that layut. Click n the desired Slide Master. Click n the parts f the slide that are t be changed and make the changes. Changes might include the fnt style, fnt size, bullet symbls and clrs, etc. Click n the Clse Master View buttn n the Ribbn. Nte Changes made befre editing the Master Slide will nt be affected. Mdifying the Presentatin Arranging the Slides Change t the Slide Srter View by clicking n the Slide Srter buttn at the bttm right f the windw OR n the Ribbn, click n the View tab. In the Presentatin Views grup, click n the Slide Srter buttn. Click n the slide t be mved and drag it t the new lcatin. Nte - As the slide is dragged t the new lcatin, a vertical bar will shw where the slide will g when the muse buttn is released. OR Cut and Paste: Right click n the slide t be mved and chse Cut. Right click n the slide at the desired lcatin and chse Paste. The new slide will be pasted after the selected slide. Deleting a Slide Change t the Slide Srter View by clicking n the Slide Srter buttn at the bttm right f the windw OR n the Ribbn, click n the View tab. In the Presentatin Views grup, click n the Slide Srter buttn. Click n the slide t be remved. Press the Delete key. Adding Ntes t a Slide Click n the slide thumbnail t which the ntes are t be added. Click in the Ntes Pane and add the desired infrmatin. Pictures Inserting a Picture frm Clip Art Fr best search results, an Internet cnnectin is required. On the Ribbn, click n the Insert tab. In the Illustratins grup, click n the Clip Art buttn. In the Clip Art pane, type a wrd in the Search fr bx. Click n the G buttn. Scrll thrugh the list t find the desired clipart. The small wrld icn in the bttm left hand crner f the thumbnail indicates that the picture is lcated n the Internet at Micrsft s website.

9 The yellw star icn in the bttm right hand crner f the thumbnail indicates the picture is animated. T view the animatin, right-click n the thumbnail and chse Preview/Prperties. Click n the desired picture t add it t the slide. Searching fr a Different Picture Enter a new wrd in the Search text: bx. Click n the G buttn. Inserting a Picture frm Files On the Ribbn, click n the Insert tab. In the Illustratins grup, click n the Picture buttn. Navigate t the lcatin f the picture, i.e. the My Pictures flder. Click n the desired picture. Click n the Insert buttn. Cpying Pictures frm the Internet Find the picture n the Internet. Right click n the picture and chse Cpy. Click n the slide thumbnail where the picture will be placed. Right click n the slide and chse Paste. Saving Pictures frm the Internet Find the picture n the Internet. Fr a list f picture sites, g t Nte - Be sure t read the Terms f Use n the site with the picture. Dn t use it withut permissin. Right click n the picture and chse Save Picture As... Navigate t where yu are ging t save the picture, i.e. the My Pictures flder. Change the name f the picture if desired. Click n Save. Deleting a Picture Click n the picture. Press the Delete key. Mving a Picture Click in the middle f the picture and drag it t the desired lcatin. Nte The cursr changes t a fur-headed arrw. Resizing a Picture Click n the picture t select it. Mve the cursr t a handle (circle) at the crner. Nte The cursr changes t a duble-headed arrw. Click and drag twards the center f the picture t make it smaller OR away frm the picture t make it larger. Rtating a Picture Duble click n the picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Arrange grup, click n the Rtate buttn and chse the desired rtatin. OR click n the green dt abve the picture and drag the picture t the desired angle. Adjusting the Brightness f a Picture Duble click n the picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Adjust grup, click n the Brightness buttn and chse the desired brightness.

In the Adjust grup, click n the Cntrast buttn and chse the desired cntrast. Nte Hlding the cursr ver a chice withut clicking displays the picture with that chice. Reclring a Picture Duble click n the picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Adjust grup, click n the Reclr buttn and chse the desired brightness. Nte Hlding the cursr ver a chice withut clicking displays the picture with that chice. Setting a Transparent Clr Duble click n the picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Adjust grup, click n the Reclr buttn and chse Set Transparent Clr. In the picture, click n the clr that is t becme transparent. Picture Styles Styles can be quickly applied t pictures. Duble click n the desired picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Picture Styles grup, click n the Mre buttn (bttm dwn arrw) f the styles windw. Click n the desired style. Nte Hlding the cursr ver a style withut clicking displays the picture with that style. Changing the Picture Shape Duble click n the desired picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Picture Styles grup, click n the Picture Shape buttn and chse the desired shape. Nte Hlding the cursr ver a shape withut clicking displays the picture with that shape. Changing the Picture Brder Duble click n the desired shape r bject. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Picture Styles grup, click n the Picture Brder buttn and chse the desired brder. Nte Hlding the cursr ver a brder withut clicking displays the picture with that brder. Changing the Picture Effects Duble click n the desired shape r bject. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Picture Styles grup, click n the Picture Effects buttn and chse the desired effect. Nte Hlding the cursr ver an effect withut clicking displays the picture with that effect. Changing the Order f Layered Pictures Right click n the picture and chse Bring t Frnt r Send t Back and the desired ptin. Bring t Frnt puts the picture n tp f all ther pictures. Send t Back puts the picture behind all ther pictures. Bring Frward puts the picture abve anther picture. Send Backward puts the picture behind anther picture.

11 Cmpressing Pictures Nte - Cmpressing pictures reduces the file size f the presentatin, making it mre manageable when mving it, sending it by , etc. Duble click n a picture. The Frmat tab f Picture Tls cmes up n the Ribbn. In the Adjust grup, click n the Cmpress Pictures buttn. If nly the selected picture(s) are t be cmpressed, click in the bx t select Apply t selected pictures nly. Click n the Optins buttn. In the Cmpressin ptins sectin, make the desired chices. In the Target utput sectin, chse Screen r . Click n OK. Click n OK. Animating an Object (Text r Pictures) Click n the bject. On the Ribbn, click n the Animatins tab. In the Animatins grup, click n the Custm Animatin buttn. Click n the Add Effect buttn in the Custm Animatin pane. Chse Entrance, Emphasis, r Exit. Chse frm the available animatins in the list. (Optinal) Decide if the animatin shuld happen n a muse click r be autmatic by clicking n the Start dwn arrw. (Optinal) Decide n the directin the actin will g by clicking n the Directin: dwn arrw. (Optinal) Decide n the speed f the actin by clicking n the Speed dwn arrw. Nte A preview f the animatin displays each time a chice is made. Remving/Changing the Animatin Click n the bject. Click n the crrespnding number f the bject in the animatin list. Click n the Remve buttn in the Custm Animatin pane t remve the previus chice OR click n the Change buttn t chse a different animatin. Adding a Delay t an Autmatic Animatin Click n the bject. Click n the dwn arrw next t the crrespnding number f the bject in the animatin list. Click n Timing. Change the Delay t the desired number f secnds. Click OK. Adding Multiple Animatins t the Same Object Click n the bject. Click n the Add Effect buttn in the Custm Animatin pane. Chse Entrance, Emphasis, r Exit. Chse frm the available animatins in the list.

12 Changing the Order Objects Play If the Custm Animatins screen is nt shwing: On the Ribbn, click n the Animatins tab. In the Animatins grup, click n the Custm Animatin buttn. Lk at the list in the Custm Animatins pane shwing the rder in which bjects play. Click n the bject n the slide t be changed. (The animatin in the list is highlighted.) Click and drag the animatin in the list t the desired playing psitin. Slide Transitins Click n the desired slide. On the Ribbn, click n the Animatins tab. In the Transitin t This Slide grup, hld the cursr ver a transitin withut clicking t display the slide with that transitin. Use the up and dwn arrws n the right side f the Slide Transitins windw t scrll thrugh the chices. Click n the desired transitin. Nte The questin mark at the bttm f the list is fr randm transitins. Adjust the speed f the transitin by clicking n the Transitin Speed dwn arrw and making the desired chice. Add a sund by clicking n the Transitin Sund dwn arrw and making the desired chice. In the Advance slide sectin, chse either On Muse Click, r set a time fr the autmatic advance f the slide. T apply this transitin t all f the slides in the presentatin, click n the Apply t All buttn. Rehearse Timings Nte Rehearse timings cntrls the pacing f the self-running shw. On the Ribbn, click n the Slide Shw tab. In the Set Up grup, click n the Rehearse Timings buttn. Click thrugh the shw at the desired pace. Ntice the timer in the upper left crner f the windw which has cntrls fr pause, etc. At the end f the slideshw a message will appear asking if yu want t keep the new slide timings. Click n Yes t keep the timings OR N t try again. Self-Running Shw Nte T have a self-running slide shw, the slide transitins must be set t Autmatically after with a desired length f time. On the Ribbn, click n the Slide Shw buttn. In the Set Up grup, Click n the Set Up Slide Shw buttn. In the Shw Optins sectin, check the bx t Lp cntinuusly until Esc. In the Advance slides sectin, chse Using timings, if present. Click n OK.

13 Sunds Adding an Autmatic Sund t an Animated Object If the Custm Animatins screen is nt shwing: On the Ribbn, click n the Animatins tab. In the Animatins grup, click n the Custm Animatin buttn. Click n the animated bject t which the sund is t be attached. In the Custm Animatin pane, click n the dwn arrw next t the animated bject and chse Effect Optins. Click n the Effect tab. In the Enhancements sectin, next t Sund, click n the dwn arrw and chse the desired sund. Click OK. Adding a Clickable Sund t an Object Click n the animated bject t which the sund is t be attached. On the Ribbn, click n the Insert tab. In the Links grup, click n the Actin buttn. Click n the Muse Click tab. Check the bx in frnt f Play sund. Click n the dwn arrw in the bx and chse the desired sund. OR chse Other Sund at the bttm f the list and navigate t the lcatin f the sund. Click OK. Nte T hear the sund when playing the slide shw, click n the bject with the sund attached. Adding a Sund t a Slide Transitin G t the slide that is t have the sund. On the Ribbn, click n the Animatins tab. In the Transitin t This Slide grup, click n the Transitin Sund dwn arrw and make the desired chice. Nte T hear the sund, hld the muse ver the sund in the list.

14 Printing Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn and chse Print Print Preview. In the Page Setup grup, click n the Print What: buttn and chse the desired ptin. Slides Prints 1 slide per page. Handuts Prints the designated slides per page. (Printing 3 slides per page als prints lines fr nte taking t the right f the slides.) Ntes Pages Prints ne slide per page with the speaker ntes n the bttm half f the page. Outline View Prints the utline f the presentatin withut pictures. In the Page Setup grup, click n the Orientatin buttn and chse Prtrait r Landscape. In the Preview grup, click n the Next Page buttn r the Previus Page buttn t view each f the pages t be printed. In the Print grup, click n the Optins buttn and chse Scale t Fit Paper t fit the largest pssible image f the slide n the paper. In the Print grup, click n the Optins buttn and chse Frame Slides t place a wire frame arund each slide as a brder. In the Print grup, click n the Print buttn. Check the settings in the windw and change them if desired. Click n OK. Saving as PDF Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn, place the cursr ver Save As, and click n PDF. Navigate t the lcatin where the PDF dcument will be saved. (Optinal) Type in a file name. Click n the Optins buttn. Make chices in the Optins windw t determine what part f the presentatin will be included in the pdf. Click n OK and then click n Save. Templates Templates prvide the basic frmat f a dcument. Click n the Micrsft Office Buttn and then click n New. The Templates sectin displays templates available n the cmputer. Chse the categry f template desired. Click n the desired template. Click n the Create buttn. The Micrsft Office Online sectin cnnects t templates available nline frm Micrsft. Chse a categry and click n the desired template. Click n the Dwnlad buttn. The template pens in PwerPint. Nte The dcument shuld be saved t the cmputer.
