4 Immersin Heater Cntrller Installatin Guide Immersin Heater Cntrller Installatin Guide Revisin Histry Versin 1.6 (Nv. 2017): Terminlgy updates: Device Cntrl changed t Hme Energy Management Plug-in Scket with Meter Inverter Firmware CPU versin required: v3.21xx Min On Time default value updated t 5 minutes Recmmendatin t install a 2-ple 16A magnet-thermal switch breaker Figure 4 updated Versin 1.5 (Apr. 2017) - Separated English and German Versins Specificatin and graphic changes Overview The SlarEdge Hme Energy Management slutins allw increasing the self-cnsumptin f a site. One methd used fr this purpse is cntrlling the usage (cnsumptin) f lads using Hme Energy Management prducts. The SlarEdge Hme Energy Management units divert pwer t an appliance (lad) accrding t precnfigured schedules, using the fllwing mdes: Schedule - The device turns n and ff at times set by the user fr the user s cnvenience, regardless f available PV pwer. Smart Save - The device (typically a biler r water pump) is cntrlled autmatically t maximize self-cnsumptin. Grid pwer is used nly if PV pwer is insufficient t meet the user s Ready by time. Fr example, t heat water fr 2 hurs and have ht water by 18:00, setduratin Ttal Time t 2 hurs and Ready by t 18:00. The biler may wrk befre 16:00 if there is available PV pwer, but in any case yu are guaranteed t have ht water by 18:00. Refer t fr examples f the device mdes f peratin. Yu can re-cnfigure the schedules at any time and manually switch appliances n and ff. Yu can cnfigure the Hme Energy Management prducts lcally thrugh the SlarEdge inverter r remtely, via the SlarEdge mnitring platfrm. The SlarEdge Immersin Heater Cntrller (referred t as "the device" thrughut) is a Hme Energy Management prduct that diverts excess energy prduced by the PV system t a lad, nrmally a ht water heater. The Immersin Heater Cntrller saves energy and reduces utility bills by string energy as ht water during the day when surplus energy is high, and prviding free ht water later n in the day. 6 Immersin Heater Cntrller Installatin Guide The fllwing figure illustrates a typical example f device peratin with Smart Save and Schedule mdes. Nte that in Smart Save mde, the cnsumptin is reduced by taking advantage f excess PV earlier in the day. Figure 2: Examples f device peratin Immersin Heater Cntrller Installatin Guide 5
7 Installatin T enable the Immersin Heater Cntrller functinality, the fllwing supprting devices must be installed: Hme Energy Management ZigBee Mdule, installed inside the inverter. Fr physical installatin refer t SlarEdge Mdbus Meter. Refer t Installatin CAUTION! T avid damage t electrical equipment, cnnect nly purely resistive lads/ appliances t the Immersin Heater Cntrller. CAUTION! This prduct must be perated under the specified perating specificatins, as described in the latest technical specificatin datasheet. This prduct must be used with immersin heaters that include a thermstat that shuts ff the pwer when reaching the required temperature. Cnfigure the prduct s that the lad cnnected is nt switched n r ff mre frequently than specified by the lad manufacturer. D nt cnnect lads that require a cntinuus current supply (e.g. fridge, freezer). D nt use the prduct if it is damaged r malfunctining. Never cnnect lads that can cause injuries r fire if they are switched n unintentinally (e.g. an irn). D nt let the prduct cme int cntact with water r ther liquids. The enclsed dcumentatin is an integral part f this prduct. Keep the dcumentatin in a cnvenient place fr future reference and bserve all instructins cntained therein. NOTE It is recmmended t install a 2-ple 16A magnet-thermal switch breaker between the AC cables cming frm the mains and the AC cables ging t the immersin heater. 1. Release the fur screws f the device frnt cver and remve the cver. 2. Remve the antenna taped inside the enclsure and install it at the tp f the device. 3. Determine the device munting lcatin n the wall, as fllws: T allw prper heat dissipatin, maintain a minimum clearance f 7 cm t the tp and bttm f the device. Maximum distance frm the inverter1 (r clsest ZigBee hme autmatin device in the netwrk): 50 m when the device is installed indrs 4. Psitin the device against the wall and mark the drilling hle lcatins. D nt use the device as a drilling template as it may damage the enclsure. 5. Drill the hles and munt the device using screws and nuts. Fasten the unit t the wall. 1Apprximate values. May differ depending n specific installatin cnditins. 6 Immersin Heater Cntrller Installatin Guide

Use the fllwing cable types fr pwer supply: Rubber sheathed, H05RR-F f type HD 22.4 PVC sheathed, H05W-F f type HD 21.5 Refer t Figure 4. Immersin Heater Cntrller Installatin Guide 7
9 Cnnecting the Device Cnnecting the Device CAUTION! D nt cnnect the Immersin Heater Cntrller utput (labeled A & B) t the grid, as this will damage the prduct. Cnnect the AC grid t the designated input nly (see Figure 4). 1. Insert the AC cable cming frm the mains thrugh the right-mst gland. 2. Insert the wire cming frm the mains and ging t L (line) thrugh the current transfrmer (CT). Make sure the arrw inside the CT (and green dt) is pinting twards the mains. 3. Cnnect the wires t the terminal blcks accrding t the labels. 4. Insert the cable frm the immersin heater thrugh the left gland and cnnect the wires accrding t labels n the terminal blck.
