5 Quilt Show News! Plans and preparations for the 2017 Quilt Show are progressing well. Our Opportunity Quilt will be auditioned at our September meeting. This beautiful quilt s mother is Cindy Smith, aided by Connie Bernhard. It is quilted by Jo-Ellen Rogers. It s another treasure. And the individual with the winning ticket will take home this treasure. Speaking of tickets, Carol Schulz, Ticketmaster, will be handing out the tickets for you to sell. Remember that the income from the sale of quilt tickets is essential to make a profit on our show. Each Guild member is asked to sell (or buy) one set of tickets (value $20.00). Your participation in the Quilt Show is vital in other areas as well. We still need someone or a team to handle the Quilt Show Boutique. And we need a someone or a team to handle the Hospitality Room. Call Beverly if you think that you could handle one of these jobs. Bonnie Holley will be handling the volunteer schedule and she will have the signup sheet ready for the November meeting. Think about the days that you can volunteer. Our show runs well because you all do your jobs so well. Your ticket to enter the Quilt Show is free if you work during Quilt Show Week. If you do not volunteer to work, then you pay to see the show. The Marines need a few good men, we need more than a few good workers. Hope that you are thinking of which quilt you will enter into the contest. We re looking this year to see what art quilts are entered and how many star quilts will float in. We want to see lots of quilts. Our judge is Jane C. Hall and she is coming to us from North Carolina. So she s ready, get your quilts ready for her. Jo-Ellen has worked hard to fill all our vendor slots. She has one double booth (or two singles) still waiting to be filled. If you have a suggestion for a vendor, contact her. Beverly and Helen Russo will be working to find business and community members to advertise in our Program. If you have a suggestion for a business please contact one of them. And so with this news, keep those sewing machines warm and Quilt! Quilt! Quilt! Beverly and Jo-Ellen Registration Deadline is December 15 th. (We don t see your quilt till February!) In Search of a Quilter to make an USAF Quilt from Uniforms I met a lady the other day that is looking for someone to make a quilt for her husband who will be retiring from the USAF. She has saved some of his uniforms to be used in the quilt. If anyone is interested, please contact me, Dee Nielsen: I will give give you the individual s name and phone number.
