Classes, meetings, show n tell, sit n stitch, etc. I would be happy to include those! Reminder: articles/pictures by Monday, Nov. 21st for the December newsletter to Jennifer Adams, What a wonderful time of year, I just love the fall. Finally some cooler weather and lower humidity. We even have a little color on some of the trees. Thank you Jo-Ellen Rogers for hosting Sit n Stitch last month, the cooler weather allowed us to enjoy your lovely screened porch. I neglected to thank Linda Aspinwall for her thoroughly entertaining and informative program in September, Linda is always such a treat. Thank you LInda. Nadine Vining also did an equally wonderful program last month on Scrappy Quilts. I m a scrappy quilt lover as well and I learned a few new things and got a some more ideas as well, thank you Nadine. If you want to experiment in making scrappy quilts, it just so happens that a name tag pattern is available on our SABQG.org website under free pattens and it s made with, of all things, scraps. Who knew!!! I would love to see some of them this month. Many of us enjoyed the Pineapple and Metro Rings classes wit, Regina Johnson.Thank you Sarah Hutton for making all the arrangements. We love Regina and it is always a pleasure when she comes to teach a class. November s day program meeting will be followed by a Thanksgiving potluck lunch. Many of you have signed up and we will have lots of wonderful dishes to share. Next is the the Christmas luncheon on December 3rd for $10. So be sure to sign up and, if you chose to participate in the snowball raffle block (the pattern is on our website under free patterns ), bring your completed block/s to the luncheon. The deadline for the Quilt Show Entry registration forms are due Dec. 15 and the Quilt Show is in February. The ads for the Quilt Show Program Book are due Dec.1st. If you can t seem to remember those dates take a picture of the Upcoming Events board at each meeting, then mark your calendars. ***Continued on page 2

Thanks for all the snacks. Reminder night group bring snacks if it's your birthday month or if you just feel like it Several Door prizes were given out throughout the evening. Committee reports were heard (see itemized reports throughout newsletter) Nadine Vinning gave the presentation on scrappy quilts. In November if you're inspired by scrappy quilts fill up a sandwich size ziploc bag (or a few bags) and trade some of your scraps for someone elses or just donate some to a fellow quilter who has been throwing out their scraps but now wants to try scrappy. It's a good way to expand your scrap selection if all your scraps are one style of fabric. See everyone in November...be sure to bring your reservation for Christmas party President s Letter continued. Joann Dunn is our new Historian so take those pictures and be sure to send them to her for our scrapbook memories. Enjoy the fall and catch up on those UFO s for the UFO Challenge that Sarah proposed, many of you have completed a few and brought them to show n tell. The meeting this month will also bring a close to the calendar year as we do not meet in December. Lastly, the Nominating Committee will be meeting early next year to find a new President and Vice President, if you would like to be considered for a position, let me know and I will pass it on to the committee. If you have any questions about them just give me a call. As always be safe and in stitches, Carolyn Pic Final reminders: Bring your non-perishable foods for Catholic Charities Food Drive Bring your log cabin quilts for show n tell Bring your dish to the day meeting potluck Thanksgiving lunch Ads for the Quilt Show Program Book due Dec. 1 st Christmas Luncheon is $10 -Deadline is Dec 15th for the Quilt Show Entry Registration Form -Lastly, think about serving on the Board as President or Vice President, let me know and I will pass your name on to the Nominating Committee for consideration. 7 7 QUILT SHOW UPDATE Plans for the 2017 Quilt Show are moving along. We hope that everyone is planning a quilt for the show! We want to fill the Holley Center with quilts. We won t need to see your quilt until February 7, Don t think that date is far away it will get here quickly if you don t pay attention. Jo-Ellen has worked hard and has all the vendor spaces filled. We have some oldies but some newbe s too. Our Quilt Show Team Leaders are: Volunteers Bonnie Holley Tickets Carol Schulz Silent Auction Patricia McLendon Boutique Diane Hiller Hospitality Mary Oliver Program Helen Russo, Betty Marler, Beverly Pierzchala Staging Sarah Hutton Judging Beverly Pierzchala If these ladies contact you, please say yes. The Quilt Show is a fun time, but we need all members to help in some way. Think of something you could make for the Boutique or the Silent Auction. Sign up to bring something for workers lunches. There s a place for everyone. Your ticket packets are ready. If you do not have yours contact Carol Schulz. The sale of tickets for our Opportunity Quilt help make the show successful financially. Thanks go to Cindy Smith and Connie Bernhard for assembling our quilt top and Jo-Ellen Rogers for quilting it. Thanks too, to Andrea Surber for the photography of the quilt and Tracy Bell for designing quilt cards. Keep stitchin, Beverly and Jo-Ellen IN TRIBUTE The Guild lost a long time member, friend and fellow quilter when Bobbi Clemens passed away recently. Bobbi was an exceptional member of the Guild, who participated in all Guild activities. She was a talented sewer and quilter and was very willing to teach others. One of Bobbi s favorite things was our Quilt Show. She helped in many ways. Most people will remember her as the ribbon queen as she worked on ribbon construction every year. Bobbi hand quilted many of her quilts and loved any kind of hand work, such as red work, embroidery and wool work. To honor her, the Guild will present a new permanent ribbon in the quilt contest. The ribbon, the Bobbi Clemens Award, will be given to a quilt maker who exhibits excellent hand work. All quilts entered into the competition will be eligible for this award.
