I enjoyed the October Program, thank you Carol Penrod and Edyth Brown. The part that added to the program greatly was all of you. I heard about your travels, your knowledge, your creativity, and support, not to mention the humor, stories, modesty and adventures. I heard from others in the group that loved it as well. Really neat Program. Thank you, everyone. I was very impressed with the food drive. Thanks, to all of you for your generosity. I am also very appreciative to Georgia and Chris for bringing all of the food to Catholic Charities you seemed to make short work of a big task, great job. November we will again be collecting food at our Thanksgiving get together. All of a sudden it seems like this year is disappearing fast. We have the Fall Retreat, November brief meeting and Thanksgiving Potluck and Christmas Party. The workdays are just this month so far. I want to remember all of you just back from surgery, jumping into the fray and working probably more than you should. We really don t want anything to happen to you so tell me if you need anything. Also a lot of you are caregivers and multi-tasking with grandkids, parents and other family needs please take care of yourselves, too. It is the time of year, we can get overwhelmed, so pay good attention to you. I found a Christmas Quilt to bring to the retreat. Snack ideas are never a problem, so I m ready and looking forward to seeing all of you at the Retreat. I hope everyone going to Houston has a safe and wonderful trip, also. Betty and the Busy Bees have been working hard to make our Christmas Party special and memorable. December 2 nd is the long planned event at the new venue, Southerland Event Center on 1112 Ohio Ave in Lynn Haven. I have seen some great quilts at show and tell. Please be brave and enter a quilt or wall hanging in the Quilt Show, your talent needs to be recognized. Stay safe and in stitches, Nancy Davis, President 1

Community Quilts Guild s Food Drive Needs Your Help!! Workday Wednesday was held Oct. 25th at Jims Vacuum and Sewing. Thanks to them for their hospitality. Catheter bag covers and walker bags were made for Sims Nursing Home. Thank you to everyone for their help. Remember that we are not meeting in November or December for our Charity Wednesdays. Looking forward to BINGO in January 2018! **The set up directions for making your BINGO card is on the sabqg.org website, then look under free patterns. And also in 2018, getting back to Charity Workdays to continue providing for our community s needs. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas from Chris and Georgia Membership Report by Linda Kelley Day/General Meeting: Oct. 18 Members 72 Guests New Dear Members: It is that time of the year again for our two months of food drive for Catholic Charities. For those who are new, the guild does a food drive in October and November of non -perishable items such as canned meat products, peanut butter, canned vegetables, pasta and rice, canned fruits, etc. Catholic Charities does not discriminate in their disbursement of the food they collect. Your religion or lack of does not come into play. If you need food you may come twice a week for help. This year's US Postal Carrier Food Drive on Mothers' Day weekend was not as successful as in the past so the cupboard is nearly bare. Please help where you can as our assistance is greatly needed and appreciated. If each member brought a "bag" we could say that we really care and we made a difference. Appreciatively, Jo-Ellen Rogers Night Meeting: Oct. 19 Members 33 New Members: Guests New 0 0 Changes to membership book: Gaye Ryon Kathy Krausnick new address Rebecca Valle Sandy Kurbec new DAY Meeting Nov. 15th Thanksgiving Meal At our November meeting, we will give thanks and share a Meal together. It is our annual Thanksgiving feast. Please bring a food item that fits into one of these categories: MEAT CASSEROLE/VEGETABLE SALAD DESSERT APPETIZER DRINKS Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude!

Warrior Beach Retreat Want a Quilt Appraisal? 4 We greeted our Warrior on September 30 th and gave out 16 quilts. We had a wonderful time and the community support was impressive. We had boats out all along our route to show support for the visiting Warriors. Thank you to the guild for making the Fall 2017 Warrior Beach Retreat so special and for supplying quilts that brought warmth and caring to our Veterans. Gratefully Linda Kelley FREE E-BOOK: Then click on Christmas Projects (left side of webpage) We have been approached by Brenda Grampsas, who is an AQS certified quilt appraiser. She would like to come to our show. She charges $20 for a verbal or $50 for written appraisal (which will be completed within one week of the show). If you are interested in having one or more of your quilts appraised please call Beverly or Jo-Ellen. Please leave a message if you do not reach us, so that we can gauge the level of interest. We will base our decision on the amount of response we get from the membership. The appraisals will be done at the quilt show. Quilts for Vegas Comfort Quilts NEW!!! Magnolia Mystery Quilt Series Next Clue found at: Check out her FaceBook group for the Mystery Quilt! Contact Carol Penrod if you have any questions. If anyone would like to send a comfort quilt to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting, they are asking for the quilts to be a minimum of 48" x 60" up to twin size. They will accept other sizes, too, as well as blocks, quilt tops, batting, etc. The mailing address is below: Rainbow Dreams Academy Attn: Quilts for Vegas 950 West Lake Mead Blvd. Las Vegas, NV There's an address for questions: quiltsforvegas@gmail.com I just thought this would be a worthwhile cause for anyone who may wish to participate. Happy Quilting! Kathy Savage

Show & Tell. Just a few of the beautiful quilts... 5 Catholic Charities THANKS the SABQG for their generous donation as this will help many local families. Our SABQG donations were calulated at approximately $1, Georgia s truck was filled!! *Remember we will do this again in November, JoEllen or Georgia will make sure it gets to the Chatholic Charites.

6 QUILT SHOW UPDATE FEBRUARY 16 AND 17, 2018 QUILT SHOW NEWS As we move closer to Quilt Show time, it seems there are more things to do. We hope many of you are finishing up quilts and if you are just starting, you still have time. Thoughts of Bobbi Clemens have filled my mind she must be watching us. Anyways, one year Bobbi decided late in the year that she would put a certain quilt in the show. The top was done but it was not quilted. She determined that she would finish it, so she got out her quilting frame (yes, she was hand quilting) and vowed that she would quilt three hours every day. And yes, she made it. So there is hope for us less motivated! We hope that additional to completing a quilt for the show, we hope you will think of something you can make and donate to the boutique. We like the pretty, clever homemade items. See Diane Hiller if you need ideas. The more items the better the boutique looks and the more items we sell. Your help is also needed in obtaining business advertisements for the show program. Our goal is to pay for the program with the proceeds from the ads. A full page ad is $200, half page is $100, one quarter page is $50 and business card is $25. See Beverly or Helen Russo for the ad forms. Mary Oliver will have the sign up form for volunteers to work at the show. There are locations for everyone to work. We need people at the admissions table, the opportunity quilt table, sewing machine table, boutique, silent auction and most important of all, quilt angels. Angels gently guard the quilts and chat quilt talk with our attendees. We thought that you would like to learn who our vendors are this year. They are: Sewcial Studio, Athens, GA, Hancy Creations from Montague, California, Martelli Enterprises from Pensacola, FL, Oh Sew Pretty from Opp, AL, Quilt Haven Threads from Tallahassee, FL, The Quilting Squares Quilt Shop from Franklin, TN, The Crazy Quilter from Millageville, GA, Redfern Enterprises from Calgary, AB, Canada, Elaine s Attic from Landrum, SC, and Jim s Vacuum and Sewing. Please visit all our vendors and thank them for coming. Keep on stitchin, Beverly and Jo-Ellen QUILT REGISTRATION FORMS DUE DECEMBER 15 th.

SABQG General Meeting, The meeting was called to order by Nancy Davis at 9:31 am and she lead the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance. Hospitality Alana Yuratich thanked the Sisterhood for providing refreshments for the meeting. A hostess is needed for November Sit and Stitch, please see Alana. The November meeting will be our Thanksgiving get together and a signup sheet was passed for the covered dish luncheon. Membership - Linda Kelley reports 71 members, 2 new members and 3 guests were in attendance. Treasurer's Report- Betty Marler reported a venue for the Christmas Party has been reserved. Butterick Pattern 4946 are for scrub hats for interested members to make for Johnny to distribute to the hospitals. Ewords Connie Bernhard no report. Historian - JoAnn Dunn no report. Program - The Nov program will be by Joan Oldham on English paper piecing. Quilt Show - Beverly Pierzchala encouraged members to provide items for the Boutique. She also strongly encouraged members to sell ads for the program. The ads are necessary to fund the printing costs of the program. Registration forms for quilt entry is due by Dec 15. Publicity - additional rack cards are available, see Rae Charles. Retreat - Ann Van Zant. The Fall retreat, "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" will be Nov 3,4 and 5 at the Laguna Beach Christian Retreat. The final count must be paid by end of meeting. PROGRAM: The Program consisted of each Bee introducing their members and explaining a little of what they liked to do when they meet. Many of these small groups are open to new members for those guild members who may want to join. See Edyth Brown, the Bee Keeper, for information as to how to join a Bee. Show and Tell of member's quilts was enjoyed by all. With no further business to discuss and after final reminders, the general meeting was adjourned at 11:15 am. Respectfully submitted, Nadine Vining, Secretary
