4 5 Places To Find Ideal Clients Whether You re Just Starting Out Or You ve Been In Practice For Years First, let s debunk a BIG myth.lots of practitioners worry that there aren t ENOUGH clients out there. Or that there s too much competition. So let s look at the numbers. In 2008, one seventh, or $1.5 trillion, of the U.S. economy was devoted to the health and wellness industry. This includes products and services that keep us healthy, make us look or feel better, slow down the effects of aging, and prevent diseases from developing altogether. By the year 2010, that spending went up $1 trillion to $2.5 trillion. That means that we re in a TRILLION dollar industry! And that s just in Three years later, in 2013: 35.9% of Americans that are obese (CDC) 1 in 3 women are on a diet at any given time (CDC) In 2005, 133 million Americans that s almost 1 out of every 2 adults had at least one chronic disease (CDC) 1 in 8 women will develop a thyroid disorder during her lifetime an estimated 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease (thyroid.org) 1.8 million American have celiac and countless others have moderate to severe food intolerances (celiaccentral.org) And just in case you re worried about competition from other holistic practitioners and coaches, consider this: If every single person reading this worked with 2,000 clients during her career, then that would only help 800,000 people That s not even ONE million out the 133 million Americans who have chronic, often times preventable, diseases (and that s not counting people in other countries!) Out of 38 Closing The Deal convos, 33 of those people became Stacey s CLIENTS! Speaking can literally change your practice overnight. Here are the top questions we get about networking events, and our answers to help you get started networking the right way. Q: I m introverted. How do I network when I m really shy? A: We hear you! You might not believe it, but Stacey and I are introverts too. Here s how we were able to make peace with networking: Approach each person you meet from a place of CURIOSITY and SERVICE. Why does this work? Because we all love helping people. So when you approach someone new by being CURIOUS about how you can HELP them, networking actually starts to feel fun. Once you help someone - connect to a resource, find an ideal client, locate a venue for talks, whatever they might need - they naturally want to help you in return. Q: Which networking groups are the best? A: The best networking group is one that is full of your ideal clients, or has access to your ideal clients. If you re not sure who your ideal client is, we invite you to check out Holistic MBA s Core Training, where we ll show you how to determine who to work with. In the meantime, the best thing to do is to simply choose a networking event and go. As Nike says, Just do it. If it doesn t work for you, then you can try another group or another event. Q: How many groups do I need to belong to? A: That depends on the effectiveness of the groups, and on how many clients you want in your practice. Some of our Core Training graduates want to work with hundreds of clients, and some just want to work with 1 new client per month. You get to decide what size business you d like to have. Q: How often should I go to networking groups or events? A: Again, it depends on the number of clients you d like to have. Once you find a networking group or groups you like, it s a good rule of thumb to go to events at least once or twice per month. Q: I m sick of my usual networking groups. Do you have any new ones to suggest? 8 A: Great question! Check out your high school, college or grad school Alumni Associations. They generally have alumni events you can attend. BONUS: They may also have an alumni newsletter that you can write a column for. Some schools even host teleseminars for students and other alumni - you could be a guest teacher.
