You might not believe it, but Stacey and I are introverts too. Here s how we were able to make peace with networking: Approach each person you meet from a place of CURIOSITY and SERVICE. Why does this work? Because we all love helping people. So when you approach someone new by being CURIOUS about how you can HELP them, networking actually starts to feel fun. Once you help someone - connect to a resource, find an ideal client, locate a venue for talks, whatever they might need - they naturally want to help you in return. Q: Which networking groups are the best? A: The best networking group is one that is full of your ideal clients, or has access to your ideal clients. Q: How often should I go to networking groups or events? A: Again, it depends on the number of clients you d like to have. Once you find a networking group or groups you like, it s a good rule of thumb to go to events at least once or twice per month. Q: I m sick of my usual networking groups. Do you have any new ones to suggest? 8 A: Great question! Check out your high school, college or grad school Alumni Associations. They generally have alumni events you can attend.
