1 SN BATTLE REPORTS RULESPACK v1.0 SN Battle reprts started in July 2014 with the visin f recreating the ld schl style picture battle reprts that peple were used t seeing in the White Dwarf magazines. Our gal was t steer the game away frm its hypercmpetitive status that had been cmmnly seen thrughut the years and bring it back t its rts with well painted fluffy armies. In January 2016 SN held its first N Retreat turnament, and despite it bviusly having an element f a cmpetitiveness, we wanted ur event t mirrr ur battle reprts. We created a ruleset that encuraged players t create mre fluffy lists whilst als trying t level ut the playing field between each army t the best f ur ability. Aside frm that we wanted t make the whle N Retreat experience t be abut mre than just a turnament, but a gaming retreat. Unfrtunately thugh, as much as we wuld lve everyne the chance t jin in n the experience we can nly cater fr a limited amunt f slts, s we have t filter thrugh all the applicatins and pick ur favurites (and that is nt an easy task!) Fast frward t tday and we feel like we have achieved what we set ut t d when we started. We are very prud f ur N Retreat events and with each event it just gets better and better. These are pertaining t the keywrds fund within the brackets, e.g. fr Space Marines it is the keywrd <chapter>, which wuld represent either Ultramarines, Salamanders, Raven Guard, etc. If an army has an additinal detachment frm anther factin, then the additinal detachment cannt use any special rules frm their sub <factin> keywrd. The nly exceptins t this rule are: <Mark f Chas> rules. These can be mixed as lng as the entire army is slely cmprised f units frm the Chas Space Marines Cdex r units frm the Chas Daemns Cdex Drukhari may have a mixture f <Kabal>, <Wych Cult> and <Haemnculus Cven> in their detachments. Only ne bsessin can be chsen acrss the whle army. Warlrd Traits and Psychic Pwers must be chsen as part f the list building and cannt change between games All relics must be included in the army list. Therefre if yu plan t use cmmand pints t gain any extra relics, this must be incrprated int the list. 7

8 SCENARIO RULES Maelstrm bjectives are all setup in advance and equidistant t each ther. They may nt be mved at any pint. Mysterius Objectives rules will nt be used fr any bjective Units cannt be hlding r cntesting mre than ne bjective at any time. Als, units cannt capture bth a primary missin bjective and a maelstrm bjective simultaneusly. At this pint the player must nminate which bjective they are claiming at the end f their player turn, which cannt be changed until the start f their next player turn. They are als cnsidered as cntesting the same bjective and cannt cntest any ther bjectives regardless f their prximity. Objectives frm the primary missins must be placed at least 12 away frm each ther and 6 away frm a maelstrm bjective. All Primary missin bjectives must be placed n the grund flr When drawing yur maelstrm cards, if there is abslutely zer pssibility f achieving the bjective, yu may immediately discard it and draw a new card. That being said, if there is even the slightest remte pssibility f achieving the missin, regardless f hw slim r ludicrus it may be, then yu must accept the card. Secure and Defend bjective cards cannt be discarded in this manner. All maelstrm cards that are wrth D3 pints are autmatically wrth 2, and cards wrth D6 are wrth 4. First bld will be replaced with First Strike. Yu gain a pint if an enemy unit is destryed during the first game turn The advanced rules fr Battlefield Terrain will be used and explained fr each bard prir t starting the event The Battlezne and Expansin rules fund under the Advanced Rules sectin will nt be used. All the latest FAQs and Beta rules will be used fr this event 8

9 SCORING Each game will cnsist f three missins; A Primary, Secndary and Tertiary, which will be scred as fllws: Primary Missin: (Eternal War Missin) Majr Victry - (4 r mre VPs than yur ppnent) - 16 pints Minr Victry - (Between 1 and 3 mre VPs than yur ppnent) - 12 pints Draw - (Equal amunt f VPs each) - 8 pints Minr Lss - (Oppnent has between 1 and 3 mre VPs) - 4 pints Majr Lss - (Oppnent has 4 r mre VPs ver yu) - 0 pints Example: Player A cntrls 2 bjectives at the end f the game, Player B cntrls 1. Each bjective is wrth 3 VPs, therefre Player A has 6VPs, Player B has 3VPs. The difference between bth players is 3, hence Player A gains a Minr Victry, and Player B scres a Minr Lss Secndary Missin: (Maelstrm Missin) Majr Victry - (Greater than 50% mre VPs than ppnent) - 12 pints Minr Victry - (Mre VPs, but 50% r less difference) - 9 pints Draw - (Equal amunt f VPs each) - 6 pints Minr Lss - (Less VPs, but 50% r less difference) - 3 pints Majr Lss - (Less VPs and ppnent has 50% mre) - 0 pints Example: Player A has scred 7 VPs, while Player B has scred 11 VPs. T wrk ut whether Player B has 50% r mre VPs, the lwer f the tw scres is multiplied by 1.5. Therefre, Player A's scre f 7VPs is multiplied by 1.5, which results in Player B's scre is greater than 10.5 thus giving Player B a Majr Victry and Player A a Majr Lss Tertiary Missin: 4vp Victry - (Mre VPs than ppnent) - 4 pints Draw - (Equal amunt f VPs each) - 2 pints Lss - (Less VPs than ppnent) - 0 pints Tabling an ppnent will grant yu a Majr Victry fr yur Primary and a Victry fr Tertiary. Hwever Secndary will still be required t be wrked ut. If yu have tabled yur ppnent yu autmatically scre all the Maelstrm cards in yur hand. If the player was tabled during turn 5, 6 r 7, the game ends there. Hwever, if it was either turn 1, 2, 3 r 4, then the player wh tabled the ppnent will draw a new set f cards every turn, until it gets t the end f turn 5. They will als autmatically gain the full pints available fr each f thse cards, fllwing the rules stated earlier (i.e. D3 VPs is autmatically 2 VPs, etc) Once the final scres are recrded, In the case f a tie break, players will be ranked depending upn wh has gained the mst lgistical pints frm all their games cllectively. 11 LIST SUBMISSION Army lists must be submitted n the 8 th September All lists must be prduced using Battlescribe and rster files ed t team@snbattlereprts.cm with n exceptins, s please familiarise yurself with Battlescribe befrehand. Please update yur Battlescribe data repsitry n the 8 th September prir t sending us yur list. Players can nt submit their lists early. If after submitting yur list there is an update t yur army s cdex, then we will be able t arrange fr yur list t be submitted after the 2 nd September. Hwever, any cdex released after the 9 th September will nt be allwed in this event. We aim t have the army lists and first rund pairings released n the 22 nd September Errata s will nly be included up until the army lists are made public. Any errata released after will nt be enfrced. Official FAQs will be in use regardless f when they are annunced, unless the first game has already been played. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Nte that as this is still relatively a new system, rules can be expected t change and/r update as f when GW and FW release mre cntent. There will be Prizes and awards fr bth turnament and painting cmpetitin winners. The SN Team will be requesting certain infrmatin peridically during the run up t the event (e.g. flight details, army list submissin, etc).
