Introduction This guide will show you how to manufacture & install an AliWood Louvre System. Ensure you have the correct components and tools before installing your louvre bank.

2 Introduction This guide will show you how to manufacture & install an AliWood Louvre System. Ensure you have the correct components and tools before installing your louvre bank. This installation guide should be read and followed step by step to ensure the product is installed sucessfully. IMPORTANT The recommendations detailed in this guide produced by AliWood Pty Ltd are formulated along the lines of good building practice. They are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of all the relevant data. Further, as the success of projects depend on factors outside the control of AliWood Pty Ltd (e.g. quality of workmanship, particular design, detail requirements, etc). 3 Step 1 - Measure your actual opening Measure sides A & B to determine the opening width and height. Handy Tip: It is recommended that louvres don t exceed 1 metre in length A B Step 2 - Cutting your 50 x 50 SSS to the correct length Create your frame to suit your opening. The 5050SSS AliWood extrusion is used for the sides, assuming the louvres are positioned horizontally. The 5050 AliWood extrusion is your horizontal section. Note: These sections in some instances may not be needed if the 5050SSS are fixed. The louvre bank doesnt need to be fully framed. Measurements A is the length to cut the top and bottom rail. Measurement B is the length to cut the sides

4 Step 3 - Mitering 50 x 50 SSS to 45 Degrees Discard the offcuts after cutting the 5050SSS on a 45 degree anghle. You should now have pieces cut as seen below. Step 4 - Inserting Corner Connectors Slide the corner connector into 5050SSS extrusion. Then slide longer 5050 into the corner connector so a neat 45 degree angle is formed. Repeat for all corners.

5 Step 5 - Screwing Corner Connectors Screw the frame together. You can either hold the frame by hand and screw together using a drill. Or buy a sash clamp and use it to hold the corners in place while drilling. Step 6 - Cutting your infill Once you have the measurement of your infill, using your dropsaw cut the infil to the correct length and place extrusion into the channel of the 5050SSS C 42mm to first hole Note: Be sure to start 42mm down the infill to the first hole.

6 Step 7 - Placing infill into 20 x 20 channel Place cut infill into the 20 x 20 channel piece on the 50 x 50 SSS extrusion. Note: If the bottom hole doesn t suit a louvre size, you may need to take up the space with an AliWood slat. Step 8 - Placing the infill extrusions The infill should fit flush into the 20 x 20 channel. Repeat this for either side of the frame. The frame is now ready for the AliWood louvre blades.

7 Step 9 - Capping Louvre Blades Louvre Blade Length Once you have measured this area, deduct 15mm from the length of the blade and cut. This is to allow for the AliWood spring loaded caps either end. Infill Length Once the frame is screwed together, measure the internal distance to determine the length of your blade. Note: Take into consideration and deduct 7.5mm either end of the blade to allow for the louvre blade caps. Step 10 - Inserting Louvre Caps into Blades Place the louvre caps into the end of the blades by sliding the 15mm end piece (D) into the internal webbing of the blades extrusion (E). E D Handy Tip: Ensure that the louvre caps are positioned in the same direction either side of the blade so both screws are facing in a downward direction. This is important for fitting the AliWood control handle.

8 Step 11 - Inserting Louvre Blades into Frame At this point, remove all the end screws from the caps, These will be re-fitted later to hold the handle on. When all the blades are in position, you can cut the louvre handle to lendth and screw it into all the louvres so they work as one.

9 Step 12 - Measuring Width for 20x20 Angle Once all the blades are in place, measure the length of the 50x50 on the base of the frame (internally). Louvre Blade Length Infill Length Step 13 - Cutting the 20x20 Angle to Size Cut your 20x20 angle to size and place onto the bottom of the frame on the inside of the louvres. Repeat the same for the top of the frame but position it to the outside of the closed louvre.

10 Step 14 - Fixing 20x20 Angle to Frame Screw off the angle using large screws to fix the angle to the frame. The louvre blade will close against this angle to make for a watertight finish.

11 Step 15 - Fixing the Louvre Frame into position - Measuring the Exterior Length & Width External Length External Width Step 16 - Cutting the 20x20 Angle to Size Cut your 20x20 angle to size and place onto the bottom of the frame on the inside of the louvres. This is to anchor your frame into position. The positioning of the angle may vary depending on what you re fixing the frame between.

12 Step 17 - Fixing 20x20 Angle to Frame Screw off the angle using large screws to fix the angle to the frame.
