2 Product Informa on Proprietary product made from a blend of high purity ceramic, alumina and zirconia cyrstal fiber for extreme obstruc on. Reinforces fire resistance, heat separa on and thermal properites. Provides extreme heat and fire obstruc on when applied to Engineered Wood Products (EWP). The only approved Fire Protectant for Engineered Wood Products (EWP) available in all markets. Approved for applica on at dealer or on the job site. (2)

3 The FireBreak insula ng sleeve is designed to be applied directly to the web of an Engineered Wood I Joist. Available for 9 ½ and 11 ⅞ I Joist FireBreak can be special ordered for larger joist series. (3)

4 FireBreak needs to be applied to both sides of an Engineered Wood I Joist. (2) fastener rows are required on the 9 ½ joist. (3) fastener rows are required on the larger 11 ⅞ joist. (4)

5 On the 9 ½ inch joist, begin each of the two rows of staples approximately 1 inch away from the end of the joist and 1-2 inches away from the top and bo om flange. Place one staple 8 inches away from one of the end staples to start the first row and con nue every 16 inches on center un l the end of the joist. Place another staple 16 inches away from the remaining end staple to start the second row and con nue every 16 inches on center un l the end of the joist. End both rows of staples by placing one staple 1 inch away from the end of the joist. (5)

6 On the 11 7/8 inch joist, begin each of the three rows of staples by placing three staples 1 inch away from the end, one in the center between the flanges and the outer two 1-2 inches away from the top and bo om flange. Place one staple 8 inches away from one of the middle end staple to start the first of three rows and con nue with one every 16 inches on center un l the end of the joist. Start the other two rows by placing a staple 16 inches away from the other two end staples and con nue every 16 inches on center un l the end of the joist. End all three rows of staples by placing one staple 1 inch away from the end of the joist. (6)

7 A joint in the FireBreak thermal insula on is usually necessary when a new roll is started. Simply begin a new roll where you le off, placing the start of the roll ghtly up against the already installed FireBreak. This will create a ght joint in the FireBreak. Place the same amount of staples at the joint that are required at the end of the joist. This will depend on the joist size you are working with. (7)

8 When installing FireBreak to the web of an Engineered Wood I Joist, start the FireBreak thermal insula on even with the end of the I Joist web. Use the required amount of staples depending on the joist size. The 9 ½ inch joist that requires two rows is illustrated above. (8)

9 Con nue installing FireBreak by simply unrolling it onto the web. FireBreak is designed for fast and easy installa on and sized to fric on fit between the top and bo om flange un l secured with staples. (9)

10 Con nue installing FireBreak and cut it even with the end of the joist using a standard u lity knife. Fasten it to the web using the required amount of staples depending on the joist size. The 9 ½ inch joist that requires two rows of staples is illustrated above. (10)

The placement of the hole cut into the wood web can easily be felt by the installer by simply touching the surface of the flexible FireBreak insula on to locate its exact loca on. A er loca ng the exact posi on of the web hole, use a standard u lity knife to cut an X in the FireBreak directly over the hole. The X will need to be cut into the FireBreak thermal insula on on both sides of the I Joist directly over the web hole. An Addi onal staple should be placed into the FireBreak on all four sides of the web hole as shown in the above illustra on. (17)

Op on (2) A Pneuma c Stapler can also be used to apply FireBreak to the web of an Engineered Wood I Joist.

29 Op on (1) FireBreak can be applied using a manual T-75 Stapler by Arrow. Illustrated above le. Heavy duty ⅞ inch long staples are required. Op on (2) A Pneuma c Stapler can also be used to apply FireBreak to the web of an Engineered Wood I Joist. Example illustrated above right. It is required to use a staple length of either ⅝ or ¾ inch. Regulate the air pressure so staples do not puncture through backside of web. (29)
