Press flashing firmly into inside corner eliminating any voids or wrinkles between the flashing and Recess Quick Corners. 4.C Make relief cut at corner allowing flashing to fold and adhere over sill and jamb. 4.D Using a J-Roller, apply pressure while rolling entire surface of flashing to insure adequate adhesion. pg 2 of 8
Step 5. Install Flashing on Recessed Sill at Outside Wall Product: 12" RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Membrane-40mil 5.A Flashing Length = (Recessed Opening Width) 5.B Adhere flashing across recessed sill and over recessed sill flashing (minimum 4" lap). 5.C Using a J-Roller, apply pressure while rolling entire surface of flashing to insure adequate adhesion Step 6. Install Flashing on Recessed Sill Product: 12" RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Membrane-40mil 6.A Flashing Length = (Recessed Opening Width) 6.B Adhere flashing flush to the sill of the window rough opening, down wood blocking, across recessed sill, and over existing flashing (minimum 3" lap). Press flashing firmly into wood blocking/recessed sill corner eliminating any voids or wrinkles. 6.C Using a J-Roller, apply pressure while rolling entire surface of flashing to insure adequate adhesion. pg 3 of 8
Step 7. Install Jamb Flashing Product: 12" RainBuster #420 Nail On Flashing Membrane-25mil 7.A Flashing Length = (Recessed Opening Height) + 2" 7.B Position jamb flashing into recessed opening. Fold flashing onto bottom of header at wood blocking/recessed header/jamb corner. 7.C Install jamb flashing flush with the jamb of the window rough opening. Jamb flashing should extend 2" onto recessed header and to the bottom of the recessed opening. Press jamb flashing firmly into wood blocking/recessed jamb corner eliminating any voids or wrinkles. 7.D Fasten with staples or nails along edge of flashing tight to the rough opening (within 1" of edge of the rough opening), in upper corner to secure folded flashing to bottom of recessed header, and along front edge of flashing. pg 4 of 8
Step 8. Install Jamb Flashing at Outside Wall Product: 12" RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Membrane-25mil 8.A Flashing Length = (Recessed Opening Height) + 14" 8.B Position jamb flashing into recessed opening. Make 2" vertical relief cut at top of jamb flashing to allow flashing to fold onto bottom of header at recessed header/jamb corner. 8.C Adhere jamb flashing over existing jamb flashing (minimum 3" lap), onto recessed header, across recessed jamb, and onto outside wall (minimum 4"). Jamb flashing should extend 2" onto the recessed header and to within 1/2" or flush with the bottom edge of the sill flashing. 8.D Make L shaped relief cut at bottom of jamb flashing to allow jamb flashing to lap over recessed sill flashing. 8.E Using a J-Roller, apply pressure while rolling entire surface of jamb flashing to insure adequate adhesion. 8.F Do not fasten along bottom edge of jamb flashing. This will allow for the weather resistive barrier to be installed behind the sill flashing in a weather board fashion. Step 9. Install Integral Flanged Window Product: RainBuster #450 Ultra High Performance Window & Door Sealant 9.A Apply a 3/8" continuous bead of sealant to the backside of the entire window flange. Apply sealant in line with the prepunched holes in the window flange. 9.B Sealant must be applied no longer than 20 minutes prior to installation of window. 9.C Install window per window manufacturer s installation specifications insuring window is securely fastened and plumb, level, and square. 9.D Sealant squeeze out should be visible around entire perimeter and through all prepunched holes in the window flange. pg 5 of 8
Step 10. Apply Cap Bead of Sealant Product: RainBuster #450 Ultra High Performance Window & Door Sealant 10.A Apply a 1/2"-5/8" cap bead of sealant to the edge of the entire window flange. Using a putty knife, flatten or butter cap bead and sealant squeeze out. Buttered sealant should extend 2" away from the window frame (approximately 1" beyond the outer edge of the window flange). 10.B Insure that all nail/screw heads are covered with sealant. Step 11. Install Head Flashing Product: 12" RainBuster #420 Nail On Flashing Membrane-25mil 11.A Flashing Length = (Rough Opening Width) 11.B Install head flashing over the window flange and flush with the top of the window at the top of recessed opening. The head flashing should extend across the width of the recessed opening. 11.C Embed head flashing into sealant at the head of the window. Press the head flashing into the sealant until sealant appears at the bottom edge of the flashing. Press head flashing firmly into wood blocking/recessed header corner, eliminating any voids or wrinkles. 11.D Fasten with staples or nails along top edge and at each end of head flashing at recessed header/jamb corners (within 1" of each end of head flashing). Use minimum number of fasteners required to keep flashing in place pg 6 of 8

Products: 12" RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Membrane-40mil 12" RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Membrane-25mil 12" RainBuster #420 Nail On Flashing Membrane-25mil RainBuster # Recess Quick Corner (2) Recess Depth: 4"= # , Greater than 4"= # (Modified) See section details in Step 3. RainBuster #450 Ultra High Performance Window & Door Sealant Step 14. Installation of Bond Breaker (by others) Product: Weather resistive barrier (building paper) by others (non-rainbuster product) 14.A After the weather resistive barrier has been properly integrated (weather board/ship lap fashion) with the window and door flashing systems, an additional piece of weather resistive barrier should be installed over the sill flashing acting as a bond breaker. 14.B Position weather resistive barrier onto reveal, recessed sill, and outside wall. Remove and cut to size. DO NOT CUT IN PLACE. Reposition and temporarily secure with minimum number of furring nails required to keep weather resistive barrier in place. Seal furring nails with RainBuster 900 Sealant/ Adhesive. Weather resistive barrier should be flush with bottom of window and flush with the recessed sill/jamb corners, continuing down the outside wall, covering the flashing completely. Installation Recommendations: It s recommended that backing (OSB, plywood, dimensional lumber) be installed to support flashing at all window and door openings. Installation substrates should be clean and free from substances and protrusions that could adversely effect adhesion and or compromise flashing/membrane performance. When an installation requires adhering RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Membrane directly to the substrate (OSB, plywood, fiberglass faced gypsum board, masonry, and concrete) an adhesion test is recommended to insure sufficient adhesion is achieved. Adhesion may be improved by rolling the membrane with a J-roller. In some cases priming the surface with an approved primer may be required to achieve sufficient adhesion. In 3-coat stucco applications, it s recommended that all flashing be covered by the Weather Resistive Barrier (WRB). After the WRB has been properly integrated (weather board/ship lap fashion) with the window and door flashing systems an additional piece of WRB should be installed over the sill flashing acting as a bond breaker. pg 8 of 8
