The afternoon winds will soon die down and mornings will be cool and crisp. So...get out there and fly! And, thanks to a whole bunch of helpful club members, flying at our site is more enjoyable, safer, and with lots more room. Special thanks go out to Nick Clayton and Mitch Biddle for the new flight stations fence and moving the safety fence. This has opened up a whole new section from which to pilot your airplane. The extended runway gives us all more room to land and let the airplane come to a stop on its own instead of making hard "S" turns to slow it down. If you haven't been to the field in several months, now is the time to get your equipment tuned up and come and fly. TRCM Events 2017 Dinner and night fly October 7 Turkey Shoot November 11 or 18 The eclipse of the sun on Monday, August 21, 2017 has passed. My wife and I were at the field painting the large yellow X's at each end during this time and we experienced some of the phenomenon that you heard of on TV. The light dimmed rather quickly as the 78% coverage occurred and though the wind continued to blow, the temperature dropped a few degrees. Though there wasn't a lot of bird activity prior to the eclipse, during the dimmest time, there were no birds flying around, feeding over the fields or soaring in the updrafts. Rather strange. The light was very strange and I think Rosemarie had it the closest when she said it reminded her of the changes

2 P a g e 2 TRCM HEADWIND just before a large thunderstorm would arrive at the farm where she was raised in North Dakota. It was just an eerie space of about 15 minutes. Fortunately, the sunlight returned and we were able to complete our work. I will not be at the meeting in September as I will be in Washington state, helping my grandson get married. (Really just staying out of the way.) So Randy Laney will be in charge of the meeting and choosing the raffle prizes. Be sure to come and see what surprises he might have as prizes. There are several important safety issues to be discussed and a reconsideration of allowing turbine aircraft to use our field. Everyone's opinion matters, so please come and participate in the discussions. Also, to stimulate your desire to attend, there are some members with success stories from Oakdale IMAC and others who have crash and a new visit by the "Big Brown Truck" stories to be reviewed, discussed and peanut gallery comments to be made. Don't miss this great opportunity.

Reminded the group to RSVP for Churchill BBQ. II. Announcements from the Floor: Al Doucette announced that the Delta Modelers are having a BBQ and night fly on August 12. III. Safety Coordinator: Dick Wareham Things going well but reminded us that only pilots and spotters should be near the flight line. No Taxiing in the pits and start up areas should be used for their intended purpose. Field Marshal: Mike Mancebo Plans to patch the damage at the east end of the runway. May need replacing later. Fencing for new barrier has been ordered. Web Master: Neil Gates Web page is back up mysteriously. Needs old flyer for Giant Scale/Warbird event. Newsletter Editor: Mark Huntley - Name the plane. In no particular order they were: BRUCE ROLAND, Charles Taylor, Charley Zera, DANNY DIAZ, DAVID WHITE, Fred Eppich, GARRETT MORRISON, GARY LUBBERS, GENE FOLGER, Gene Mason, JAMES DOYLE, Jeff Haley, JERRY UNRUH, Jim Maguire, JOE DE RENZI, Josh O'Connell, MARK HUNTLEY, MATTHEW MORELL, NATE HOLDERBEIN, Neil Gates, PHILLIP MORELL, Rob Sarlan, RYON OWENS, SANTIAGO ROBILLOS and Scott Nathan. These pilots flew a grand total of 350 judged sequences. NEIL GATES won the Basic class. There were 8 pilots in Basic. The winning order was: (1) Neil Gates, (2) GENE FOLGER, (3) JERRY UNRUH, (4) JAMES DOYLE, (5) PHILLIP MORELL, (6) Fred Eppich, (7) Scott Nathan and (8) Jeff Haley. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 1 unknown round. The scores ranged from a low of to a high of 1,000 (a range of points). MARK HUNTLEY won the Sportsman class. There were 10 pilots in Sportsman. The winning order was: (1) MARK HUNTLEY, (2) Josh O'Connell, (3) RYON OWENS, (4) Jim Maguire, (5) Charley Zera, (6) DANNY DIAZ, (7) NATE HOLDERBEIN, (8) Gene Mason, (9) Charles Taylor and (10) GARY LUBBERS. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 1 unknown round. The scores ranged from a low of to a high of 1,000 (a range of points). BRUCE ROLAND won the Inter mediate class. There were 2 pilots in Intermediate. The winning order was: (1) BRUCE ROLAND and (2) SANTIAGO ROBILLOS. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 1 unknown round. The scores ranged from a low of to a high of 1,000 (a range of 12.2 points). DAVID WHITE won the Advanced class. There were 2 pilots in Advanced. The winning order was: (1) DAVID WHITE and (2) JOE DE RENZI. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 1 unknown round. The scores ranged from a low of to a high of 1,000 (a range of 12.8 points). GARRETT MORRISON won the Unlimited class. There were 3 pilots in Unlimited. The winning order was: (1) GARRETT MORRISON, (2) MATTHEW MORELL and (3) Rob Sarlan. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 1 unknown round. The scores ranged from a low of to a high of 1,000 (a range of points). MARK HUNTLEY won the Seniors class. There were 7 pilots in Seniors. The winning order was: (1) MARK HUNTLEY, (2) BRUCE ROLAND, (3) Jim Maguire, (4) JOE DE RENZI, (5) DANNY DIAZ, (6) Gene Mason and (7) GARY LUBBERS. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds) and 1 unknown round. The scores ranged from a low of to a high of 1, (a range of points). The tightest competition was for 7th place in the Sportsman class, with only points difference between NATE HOLDER- BEIN and Gene Mason

5 P a g e 5 TRCM HEADWIND The generosity at the Oakdale IMAC was overwhelming. The pilots at this event took up a collection and purchased this new Extra plane with all the gear and gave it to Scott Nathan. Scott did an amazing job flying his other electric plane during the event and everyone wanted to see him at the next event flying IMAC to the next level with this beauty. Remember Scott, no 3D with this one!

6 P a g e 6 TRCM HEADWIND The TOKAY RC Modelers presented a static display and discussion of RC modeling to the local Lions Club in Lodi. The demonstration also included a drone flight outside which everyone enjoyed. Special thanks to all the club members who took the time to showcase our club.
