2 Mars Rover Manipal Mars Rover Manipal is a multi-disciplinary student team from Manipal University whose sole aim is to design and build a next generation rover for exploration of extraterrestrial environment and to assist astronauts on future Mars missions. Inspired by the commendable success of Mangalyaan, the team came into existence in the year 2014 and has experienced expotential growth to become one of the leading teams in Asia and the world. ABOUT US We participate in the annual University Rover Challenge (URC) organized by Mars Society, USA. In URC 2017, we finished 8th out of 82 teams from across the globe and 1st among the Asian teams. Our debutant team secured 13th position worldwide and 2nd position amongst Indian teams. After a humble beginning with just 9 team members, the team has grown to the size of 24 students working across five sub-systems namely Mechanical, Electronics & Control, Artificial Intelligence, Management and Science Cache. The team has now developed multiple scaled down prototypes and 2 rovers that took part in the URC 2016 and Urc 2017 edition. The team has already set ambitious targets for the upcoming year and plan to paricipate in the European Rover Challenge as well.

4 Mars Rover Manipal UNIVERSITY ROVER CHALLENGE The University Rover Challenge (URC), a premier international robotics competiton, is organized anually by Mars Society USA during summer at Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), Utah. The problem statement is designed to capture the complex system design requirements in various scenarious of interplanetary exploration missions. We target the competition as a platform for us to hone our overall engineering skills in design and deployment of an intelligent Rover System in addition to exposure to highly competitive working environment.
