The FUEL SANDWICH WRAP can be washed and re-used time and time again!! Part of the French learning this term had Students in year 3-7 writing a comic strip about Nicolas Baudin the French explorer and Matthew Flinders meeting each other in These three students came 1st, 2nd AND 3rd in SA! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

2 P a g e 2 The Maker Space In the year 6 / 7 unit Ms Morgan and Mrs Evans have renovated a space in between the two units. This space is now called the Maker space, where we build things out of Lego, cardboard and foam to make something move. We also use circuitry in the Maker Space to make wheels move and rotor spin. We built the Maker Space because it gives us a better understanding of how things work and how they move. I really enjoy Maker Space because we have complete freedom of what we can do and how we can do it. Maker Space isn t just design and tech, you don t get the freedom of choice like you do in Maker Space and that s why I love it so much. I love the freedom of it! - Hayden W Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and he was the first man to walk on the moon. He born on 5th of Neil Armstrong by Kavindu R. August 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, U.S.A and he died on 25th of August 2012 in Cincinnati, Ohio when he was 82 years old. He was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. When he was trying to step on the moon he said, That s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. The Space ship Neil Armstrong went in was Apollo 11. Premier s Reading Challenge Students who finished the Premier s Reading Challenge will receive their medal/certificate on Friday from their classroom teachers. Students will have a special presentation during Friday s assembly, along with Room 10 who were the first class to finish! Congratulations to all the students that completed the challenge! THANK YOU to EVERYONE who contributed to help feed the hungry in Adelaide. Behind the scenes By Chloe B There are loads of preparations for the Strawberry Fair these include the gift baskets, trail bags, the recipe books and delicious treats to sell at the Strawberry Fair. We would like to thank everyone for donating items for each stall. Thankyou to the people that helped make the treats for Strawberry Fair and everyone who donated items for the gift baskets. This year our school decided that we should have a recipe book to put everyone's recipes in. We would like to thank everyone who donated items for the White Elephant after school and before school. 3

It Is a day to remember the soldiers that died fighting for their countries in World War I and all wars that have followed. On the 11th minute of the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month we have one minute silence to remember the soldiers. On the same day in 1918 the Germans called a cease fire to discuss peace after four long years of fighting in World War I. Every year there are memorials held all around the world on this day. On Remembrance day many people wear a red poppy. This is because the first plants that grew on the battle fields were bright red poppies. Many people believe that the poppies are red because of the blood of the soldiers in the soil. Make sure you take a minute to remember the soldiers that fought for our country on remembrance day. 6 Run 11 A short story I screamed at the top of my lungs hoping to distract The Machine. It didn t work. The Machine grabbed Steve's shirt with its claw appendage and lifted him off the ground, stopping suddenly as well. Dave and I had to also stop in order to not run ahead of The Machine. When we looked back, The Machine was gone. Steve was laying there facedown in the rubble. When we got to him we feared the worst, but we saw his arm move slightly. We rolled him over; his eyes were closed but he was breathing, which was a relief. STEVE! I yelled, attempting to wake him from his slumber. It worked this time, and Steve suddenly snapped open showing solid black eyes. Dave and I jumped back from surprise. Steve stood up in very rigid movements Oh, no! Dave whispered, They ve got him! I was confused. What do you mean? I asked. The Machines have inputted their programming into Steve! I looked at his face and saw only horror. Steve looked like he was being held up by strings. Suddenly his head snapped sideways and looked straight at us. He started to move towards us... To be continued By Hayden W. VILLAGE CHURCH GINGERBREAD HOUSE EVENTS Village church will be hosting two Gingerbread house making events. Monday 5th December at 3.30pm for children (and parents) Wednesday 7th December at 7.30pm for adults Both events will be held in the school hall. 7 P r o d u c e d b y S t u d e n t s P a g e 7 THE 2016 END OF YEAR CELEBRATION TUESDAY, 6TH 7pm. Well, the END OF YEAR CELEBRATION is nearly here.. AND WE RE EXCITED!! Every child who has experienced this event in the past, is REALLY looking forward to TUESDAY, 6TH DECEMBER. There may be some of you who would like a little more information about it Each year, in term 4, the students prepare a performance during their Performing Arts lessons. The aim is to showcase their developing skills and natural talent. All items are put together in a collaborative way, where the students and I work together to create the final product. Some of the items are in the form of a song and dance, while others tell a story to music. The choir finishes the program off with an uplifting song. This is an outdoor event, held on the asphalt nearest the main building. While students sit right in front of the stage, supervised by their class teacher, the adult audience sits on BYO chairs in the allocated seating areas. THE CONCERT WILL BEGIN AT 7PM. Students will need to meet their class teacher in their classrooms by 6.40pm (unless otherwise indicated by the class teacher). We expect to be completed by 8.45pm. Students remain with their class and teacher for the entire concert. At its conclusion, Rooms 18, 19 and 20 students will return to their classroom for safe dismissal. Rooms 8, 9, 10 and 11 students will be dismissed under the COLA (covered outdoor learning area in front of the Hall). Students in years 3 to 7 can be collected from the asphalt audience area. To maintain a safe environment, parents are asked to move slowly to the above meeting points to take their excited and / or tired children home. Your child will be in need of a specific COSTUME for their class item. Your child has now brought a note home outlining all things particular to their part in the concert. Please begin NOW to find these items so that all of us are relaxed in the final lead up to TUESDAY, 6TH DECEMBER. Any questions relating to the COSTUME can be directed to your child s class teacher.
