Everywhere I Go Move 25 GROUPS: Creating a safe place to connect. WHAT YOU DO 1. Go to myfreedom.org/kidsleaders to do the following: 1. Read through K-5th large group leader guide several times throughout the week to familiarize yourself with what to say, how long it should take, and the order of activities. 2. Watch the Bible story video. 3. Preview the worship songs and get familiar with the motions for this weekend. 2. Follow up with your campus lead with any questions about the weekend! 3. Arrive on time to tag in briefly with the team, gather your materials, and connect with early arrivers. 4. Teach kids about God s Word with energy! WHAT YOU NEED (provided for you) -Bible (bring your own) -picture of thinking emoji -30 pieces of clothing (bring your own) -masking tape -clothes hamper (bring your own) -3 bankers boxes -picture of ear emoji -picture of angry emoji

2 CUE: Play high energy music as kids enter and Freedom Kids Logo (#1). CUE: FK countdown (#2) 5 UTES BEFORE THE GATHERING BEGINS. (New Countdown) OPENER When the 5 minute countdown gets down to 1 minute, have the kids start to make their way to large group. Host is at the front welcoming them. Lead kids in big countdown from 10 seconds! CUE: Dirty Jobs (#3). Hey, everyone! It s great to see you. And speaking of seeing, what are we talking about this month in Freedom Kids? (Pause for response.) Yes! Initiative! CUE: Initiative Slide (#4). Initiative is seeing what needs to be done and doing it. Sometimes it s hard for us to notice the things around us that need to be fixed. We get caught up in the things we want to do. That s why we ve got to pay attention and SEE what needs to be done and then be willing to do something about it. You might not always WANT to do a dirty job, but hey, somebody s got to do it! Speaking of dirty jobs, I ve got another fun laundry game for you today. Get ready for Laundry Hamper Basketball! Hold up the laundry hamper. Raise your hand if you ve ever forgotten to put your dirty clothes in the hamper. (Raise your hand.) I know! Me too. But it s okay, because we re going to make up for it today. I need ten of you who think you can hoop it up and toss some clothes in this hamper. Hand a piece of clothing to ten different kids. Move them behind the tape line. GAME Fold My Socks (To contestants) All of you will stand behind the line. When I say, Go, you ll try to make a shot in the hamper. (Point to small group leaders.) My friends and I will keep tossing clothes to you, so keep shooting! If you make a shot, raise your hand. We ll go until three of you make a basket. (To contestants) Are you ready? (To audience) Audience, are you ready to cheer them on? All right, go! CUE: Game slide w/ music. (#5). Toss clothes to the kids while they shoot. Worship Leaders help too. Call out the kids names when they make a shot. Stop the game after three of them make a basket. That was great! Way to go, everyone. [Three finalists names], you three are moving on to the finals. The rest of you can have a seat. Thanks for playing! Now let s find our ultimate hamper b-ball champ with a slam DUNK competition! Each of you will get one chance to do the most spectacular dunk imaginable. We ll choose the winner by applause. [First kid s name], you re up! CUE: Game slide w/ music (#6). Give each of the three finalists a chance to do a dunk. BOOM-shaka-laka! Unbelievable! All three of you were great, but let s determine our champion. Give it up for [first kid s name]! Let s hear it for [second kid s name]! And finally, [third kid s name]! Quickly choose a winner based on applause. Give all three of them a high-five. Let s give all of our contestants a big hand!

3 WORSHIP LEADER: Wow, we have some crazy cool, talented people up in here! Let s all stand to our feet and get ready to get loud and crazy while we sing to God! CUE: Song 1 (#7) CUE: Song 2 (#8) LEADER: Let s all stretch our hands out wide and put our hands together in 3, 2, 1! Dear God, we thank you for this day. Thank you that we get to be here. We give his time to you today. Help us to hear what you want to say to us and give us the courage to live it out this week. We love you! Amen! You guys are so good at doing those moves! Before you sit down, find as many people as you can and tell them your name and if you would rather drink a whole gallon of nacho cheese or a whole gallon of pizza sauce! Go! CUE: 1 minute countdown (#9). When the countdown finishes, CUE: Dirty Jobs video (#10). LEADER: CUE: Dirty Jobs Slide (#11). Those are some seriously dirty jobs I mean I would totally rather put my laundry away than do that! Let s check in with Nehemiah, shall we? (Hold up Bible.) All month we re telling the story of this great man from the Bible who REALLY knew what initiative was about. Last week we learned that Nehemiah traveled to Jerusalem. It would have taken MONTHS. Point to the box with the icon of the sandals. He inspected the city walls at night. Sure enough, they were in bad shape. Point to the box with the icon of the flashlight. So Nehemiah rallied the people. He told them: Let s rebuild the wall of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:17, NIrV). And they agreed. Point to the box with the icon of the megaphone. The wall began to take shape. Point to the overall (mini) wall of boxes. THE PEOPLE ASK FOR HELP This was good! They were making progress. Construction was underway. Here s where we pick up today s story. And, well... something happened something Nehemiah never expected. He heard some of the people crying for help! CUE: Crying Emoji w/ Text Sound (#12). Look at your phone. Uh-oh. Some of them said this: CUE: Family Emoji w/ Text Sound (#13). Read Nehemiah 5:2 from your Bible. There are now many of us. We have many sons and daughters. We have to get some grain so we can eat and stay alive. (Nehemiah 5:2, NIrV).

4 Others said this. CUE: Bread Emoji w/ Text Sound (#14). Hand the Bible (marked at Nehemiah 5:3) to a different adult Leader to read it out loud. We re being forced to sell our fields, vineyards and homes. We have to do it to buy grain. There isn t enough food for everyone (Nehemiah 5:3, NIrV). It was terrible! They even had to send their children off to work as servants. As you can imagine, all these different groups of people were very, very upset. NEHEMIAH DECIDES TO ACT What was Nehemiah supposed to do? I mean, he had a big job to do, right? He was leading the charge, rebuilding the wall. (Point to the wall.) Did he really have the time to try to fix everyone s problems? Well, here s what he did. This is Nehemiah talking. Open the Bible to Nehemiah 5:6-7 and read. I heard them when they cried out. And I was very angry when I heard what they were saying. I thought it over for a while, (NIrV). Wow. It sounds like he really took the people seriously. He HEARD them. He listened. CUE: Ear Emoji w/ Text Sound (#15). Turn box eight around so the audience can see the icon of the ear emoji on the side. He was ANGRY when he heard how they were being mistreated. CUE: Angry Emoji w/ Text Sound (#16). Turn box nine around so the audience can see the icon of the angry emoji on the side. He took the time to think it over and figure out what he should do. CUE: Thinking Emoji w/ Text Sound (#17). Turn box ten around so the audience can see the icon of the thinking emoji on the side. It was so wrong! The people s relatives and friends and leaders were using their troubles to try to make money. Nehemiah couldn t just let this go. He decided to do something about it. NEHEMIAH CONFRONTS THE LEADERS Let me tell you, Nehemiah was fired up! (Point to the angry emoji box.) He went to the leaders the nobles and officials and he told them that what they were doing was wrong. He said, I m lending money and grain to the people, but I m not charging them extra! That has to stop! He told the leaders to give back the money that belonged to the people and also the EXTRA money they had made them pay. The leaders agreed. They told Nehemiah: We ll do exactly as you say.

5 Point to the wall of boxes. But wait a second. What about Nehemiah s big project? What about the wall? Start stacking the three new emoji boxes on the wall of boxes. Even though that was important, Nehemiah knew it was MORE important to help people in need. The wall would still be there. He could keep building it later. The people came first! He could take the time to defend them and protect them. After all, if he didn t do it... who would? WRAPPING UP Nehemiah understood something that we need to remember, too. God thinks people s troubles are important! He wants us to work to make things right. Take a look at our bottom line for today. CUE: Bottom Line Slide (#18). Don t wait for someone else to help people in need. Think about what Nehemiah did. He was in charge of this massive rebuilding project. He wanted so badly to finish what he had started. But he pressed pause! He chose to put the needs of other people ahead of his own. He listened. (Point to the ear emoji box.) He felt what THEY felt. (Point to the angry emoji box.) He took time to think about what he could do to help. (Point to the thinking emoji box.) After Nehemiah made things right and the leaders changed their ways, THEN he was able to continue his work on the wall. It s hard to stop what we re doing and think about the needs of others. We need God s help to do it. CLOSER Bottom Line You know, sometimes it s important to take a step back and stop what you re doing even if you re right in the middle of doing something big. Don t wait for someone else to help people in need. People matter WAY more than things. You never know how God might use you to help people whether it s a friend, someone in your family, or even someone you ve never even met before. He might use you to DO something for them. He also might use you to be there for them. What if your little sister is trying to lift something heavy? Easy. Put down whatever you re doing and help her out. What if you see a friend at school who looks sad? Maybe he needs someone to talk to. Maybe that someone could be you! If you see someone being picked on, don t look the other way. Don t try to pretend it s not your problem. Tell someone. Tell that kid who s doing the bullying that it s not okay. No one should have to feel afraid. I bet you have some great ideas of ways YOU can help. You ll get to talk about that together in Small Group! It was so great hanging out with you today! I ll see you next weekend for another day of Dirty Jobs! CUE: High energy music as kids exit to small groups. Fade out when all kids have exited.
