2 Backfiring from the chair: Wow!!! A total of 32 people at the breakfast run on Sunday. I will not even try to recall member and bike, Trevor gets that down to a T. I will list only the members/visitors as recorded by Anita. Here goes; Wells and Anita Trevor Allen Clive and Shirley on the 1600 BMW (congrats!) Nigel led the troop and in Mike s absence, I took on the sweeper function. The line of bikes out ahead of me on the route was spectacular to say the least. We most certainly broke the record for attendance! The pace was not too fast and all arrived safely. We had just finished brekkies and were contemplating were to go afterwards, when a Harley Owners Group chapter arrived. Plenty agricultural units with lots of dudes and gals in cowboy garb and rooking cigars. Thank goodness we already had brekkies, the service was pretty slow with our group, I can only imagine how slow it would be if they were serving both our groups. 3 these dudes down all we want, but the bikes were looking good and they love to ride just as much as we do!! This Sunday we will be going to the Harties Cableway. There are two restaurants, one at the bottom and the other at the top of the mountain. The ticket price for the cable car ride is R per person. The plan is to have the breakfast at the top. Bring the fat little wallets and enjoy the outing! For those planning on going to the Ink and Iron on Saturday, we will meet at the venue. See you all there! Till we ride again, Wells. 4 Captains Log: Sunday 3 rd March The weather for the past few Sundays has been amazing. Always starting out, looking grim and then turning out to be sunny and warm. And so again this past Sunday we had similar conditions to greet us before and during the ride down through Suikerbosrand to Alberton Piatto. Ivor and I opted not to do the group ride and instead took the N12 highway to Alberton. We found the traffic to be quite good and were able to cruise at 140 for most of the way without seeing any fuzz. This was an enjoyable ride and it finally dawned on me that riding my Thunderbird on freeway surfaces is where Lucifers Hammer is at its best. The suspension is better suited for this style of riding as it does not favour bumpy roads. We arrived at Piatto in record time to find young Allen watching over the longest table you have ever seen. As Ivor and I needed to get back early, we pre-ordered toasted sandwiches and coffee. We had finished eating as the main group hit town with Clive and Shirley touting their new 1600 GT BMW. Veerey impressive Clive! May you always keep the rubber side down and enjoy the scenery. Ivor and I took the N12 back and I again enjoyed riding the new four-lane freeway all the way back to Benonsh.
