2 IMH2 Strip centre guiding in the high tempera Operating Principle: The measuring principle is based on electromagnetic induction. At the strip edges, two centre sensors are accommodated at one level, vertically in relation to the strip pass level and symmetrically to the centre of the plant, so that the strip passes centrally between these centre sensors. One centre sensor functions as a transmitter and the opposite one as a receiver. The electronic unit supplies the inductive transmitting sensors with sinusoidal AC voltage of controlled frequency and amplitude. On each transmitter coil, an electromagnetic alternating field builds up towards the opposite receiver. The alternating field flows through the receivers. The level of induction is dependent on the strip position. By evaluating the frequency-dependent amplitude height, the AC voltages thereby induced provide analogue output signals for the detected strip edge position. For strip centre guiding, the two receiver signals are operated in a differential connection, so that equal parasitic inductions are neutralised.
