5 News From Our Masonic Youth SoJuniors June: The Youth Committee had its first meeting and was designed to give the children of Chapter 545 members the opportunity to participate in arts & crafts and other projects, allowing the parents to be active in meetings Guided by a few ladies, the children took this group into their own direction Getting together, they decided on their own name and developed their own charity By the end of that meeting they announced to the members of Chapter No 545 that they have chosen the name SoJuniors and they asked to be able to collect soda tabs to be delivered to the Shriners Hospital for Children in order to use them for the purchase of toys and medical equipment for the children that are patients within these hospitals thus, Kids Helping Kids! July: The SoJuniors joined Chapter 545 to celebrate Independence Day at Ted & Sallie Wallace s house In addition to the meeting, picnic, and celebrations, the children joined the Sounds of Liberty Ceremony, in which the participants all over the United States ring a replica of the Liberty Bell at 2:00 pm EST August: Colonel Croak is elected the SoJunior s mascot and was brought before all of Chapter 545 Lady Paula St Onge took the time to put together Col Croak s uniform and should be recognized for her exceptional work September: After the Fredericksburg Mayor s presentation, the SoJuniors continued with their T-shirt project The Chapter handed out American Flag lapel pin with the Square and Compasses to the members of Fredericksburg Lodge during the Riverboat Cruise and received donations in order to raise more funds for SoJunior crafts & projects October: The SoJuniors began working on their own banner to be displayed in our meeting area Also, SoJunior member, Samantha St Onge, presented soda tabs to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA on October 29th, 2006 November: A taco dinner was provided by the SoJuniors to raise funds for their on going projects Afterwards, the kids joined the Chapter in introducing archaeologist and guest speaker, Mr Chip Houston who spoke of the history around Jamestown and the real story behind Pocahontas SoJunior Samantha also provided a large container to collect the soda tabs for the children s on-going charity December: The SoJuniors joined the Chapter in celebrating the Holiday Season and signed the Get Well Card for First VP Steve as well as to stand in for a picture to help bring him good cheer During a brief meeting, the kids announced the adoption of a little 4- year old girl named Tamara from the Red Cross Letters from Santa Program and received member support Finally, the SoJuniors also welcomed 2- week old Sara Michelle Chandler as their newest member Because No Patriot is too Small! A Rainbow of Service Fredericksburg Assembly #12, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, is most fortunate to be under the patronage of Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge #4 In an effort to exemplify the lesson of service encouraged in the teachings of Rainbow, the Assembly has been busy in the community The girls wrote Christmas cards to a number of military service members stationed in the Middle East Most recently, the Assembly helped serve meals to homeless families at the Community Kitchen event sponsored by the Fredericksburg Baptist Church, and plan to help again next quarter They collected items to donate to the Fredericksburg SPCA and visited with the animals in December In January, the girls donated a number of coats and winter clothing to the Baptist Church for distribution to the homeless Many of the clothing items were provided by members of the Masonic Family We hope that you will come visit us at our meetings on the 2 nd and 4 th Mondays of the month at 7:00 pm The Worthy Advisor is Miss Jamie Waite and the Mother Advisor is Ms Kelly O Malley, klomalley@coxnet Job s Daughters International Many new things have been happening with Bethel #16 in the past few months In November, Rebecca Horne was chosen to be the Miss Congeniality of Virginia at the Miss Job s Daughter Pageant which is held annually in Williamsburg, VA The whole bethel is very proud of her! December marked the installation of officers with Ms Rebecca Horne as Honored Queen The daughters have begun a love gift charity this term with each girl taking $2500 each out of their bethel savings, which was matched by one of the parents It gave each daughter a grand total of $5000 which were converted into Wal-Mart gift cards to give to someone that they thought was in need for the Christmas Holidays The girls reported on their Love Gifts at their first January meeting Many events are coming up, such as the bi-annual grand visitation of our Bethel on January 27 th at 2pm in the Lodge In March we will be serving dinner to the Masons as well as going to Virginia Beach for the HIKE (Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment) fundraiser to help raise money for hearing aids On April 21st, we will be hosting another Mystery Dinner Theater for all those that would like a very entertaining evening! The girls will put on skits for everyone after serving a delicious new surprise dinner Please mark you calendars for these important dates, we hope to see you all at our meetings on the 2 nd and 4 th Tuesdays of every month!
