2 Revision History A0 This Release Note describes the requirements, the tools, and the types of adhesives for gluing on Touch Screen panels in both Adjustable Jig and Manual environments. Adhesive Requirements for Respective Environments Use the following types of adhesives for respective environments: Sensor Adhesion in a non-coated Glass Environment The standard adhesive for gluing to non-coated glass is UV Dymax Sensor Adhesion on Metal Frames The standard adhesive for gluing on metal is. Enhancing Glue for Indoor Applications For Touch Screens larger than 50 : Enhancing glue for indoor applications is required. The glue is. For Touch Screens smaller than 50 : No enhancing glue is required. Enhancing Glue for Outdoor Applications The enhancing glue for all outdoor applications is epoxy Master bond EP30R. Curing Requirements Curing Tool Power Density The following curing power densities apply: The minimum curing tool power density without a glass substrate is 400mW/cm2. 2 of 7

3 Curing Time The minimum curing tool power density measured after passing through a glass substrate is 120mW/cm2 (If the curing power density is below this value, use epoxy glue). The UV curing time for a curing tool with a power density of 400mW/cm2 is as follows: 30sec for 2mm glass 60sec for 3-8 mm glass 120 sec for 10-12mm glass. Gluing Requirements The following gluing requirements apply when gluing to the Touch Screen panel. Coated Layers Do not glue to a coated layer of glass. If the glass is coated, the gluing area should be removed or polished. The strength of coating depends on coating types and coating process, and coating (with the sensor) can detached easily from the glass. Gluing on Touch Screen panels in a Non IP65 Environment Primers Tools In a non- IP65 application environment, a one millimeter gap must be applied between the and the Rod Holders. Apply 3M primer 3901 before using all types epoxy glues (, EP30R). Clean the Touch Screen panel glass with acetone cleaning and polish, before applying primer. Sensor Bases for Adjustable Jigs Create a gap of 1 mm between the and the Rod Holders of the Touch Screen, to allow for the Rod Holder expansion due to heat. A sensor base with a built-in 1 mm gap is supplied by Lumio. Place the sensor base in the sensor base socket of the Adjustable Jig. 6 Lumio UV Tool for manual assembly Adhesives The Lumio UV tool for manual Touch Screen panel assembly enables fast and easy sensor adhesion to the Touch Screen panel. The Lumio UV tool power density should be at least 400mW/ cm2. The following table describes the types of adhesives used to glue to Touch Screens in different circumstances.
