3 Selection guide for MCS has prepared various LED lights for processing machines and machine tools. LP-400 and LPW-400 series are suitable for processing machine light and machine tool light. 4 MCS developed original LED lens. The LED lens has been applied in MCS LED light. MCS has developed new concept LED lights for customers to be able to see finely the processing condition prepared with machine tools. In Fig.1, LPW-488 and LPW-489 are suitable for the purpose. <Background of LPW-400 series LED light development> LED lighting has been used for almost machine tools. Recently, a problem has been pointed out by machine tool users. MCS had received many requests for LED lighting equipment that solves the problem. The problem is a phenomenon that LED light sources are reflected on the cylindrical metal surface prepared with the lathe. As the result, bright and dark lines (bright lines) corresponding to the number of LED sources are visible on the prepared cylindrical metal. It is difficult for workers to observe fine processing state caused with chattering vibration of byte. MCS had developed new LED lights which suppress the bright lines appearing on the processed surface due to reflection of the LED sources. < How does the bright lines look? Why does it matter? > In machine tools, especially lathes, there is a possibility of chatter surface occurrence during cutting a cylindrical workpiece. Such a chattering condition can be detected with conventional fluorescent lamps without bright lines. However, in case of LED lighting, bright and dark lines appeared on the processed surface as shown in Fig. 2. The bright lines disturb the observation for the precise process surface. 5 <Development of new LED light suppressing LED source reflection> MCS developed new LED light, LPW-488 and LPW-489 which suppress the bright lines adopting the original lens configuration (Patent application). Recommendation relationship between work piece surface and LED light installation Figure 3 shows recommendation installation of LED light developed for suppressing LED light source reflection. When the glass surface of the LED light is installed almost vertical to the center axis direction of the workpiece, the reflection suppression effect becomes the largest. If the LED light installation location is different from the above relation shipment, please consult sales person or technical personnel. 6 <Comparison of bright lines conditions between new LED light and conventional LED light> Tables 1 and 2 show the examination results of the reflection prevention effectiveness for new LED light (LPW-488) and conventional light (LP-488) installed as shown in Fig.3. In the experiment, two different diameter cylinders were prepared to check the effect of new LED lighting concept. Table 1 shows the comparison for the workpiece diameter 168 mm. When the distance between the lighting equipment and the workpiece is more than 30 cm away, in the new LPW- 488 system, we cannot see the bright lines. Meanwhile, in the case of conventional light, the bright lines can be seen even if they are about 1 m apart. In Table 2, when the distance between the lighting equipment and the workpiece is more than 20 cm away, in the new LPW-488 system, we cannot see the bright lines. On the other hand, in the case of conventional light, the muzzy bright lines can be seen even if they are about 80cm apart. From these bright line experiments, in general, the following facts are derived in LED lighting using the point LED sources. 1. The larger the diameter of the workpiece is, the easier it is to see the bright lines. 2. As the distance between the LED light and the workpiece is larger, the bright lines become less visible. 3. The new LPW-488 suppresses bright lines due to reflection of LED point light source, as same as fluorescent lighting with surface emission. Therefore, LPW is ideal for precision machining machines. 6

9 <Illuminance value comparison of the new LPW-488 and the conventional LP-488> Figure 3 shows the illumination distribution for the newly developed LPW-488 and the conventional model LP-488. As shown in Fig.3, the new LPW-488 has higher illuminance than conventional LP-488. The larger this value is, the better wide angle lighting becomes. 1. The size and power consumption of LPW-488 and LPW-489 are as same as LP-488 and LP-489, respectively. 2. The maximum illuminance of LPW-488 is larger than that of LP-488. The half width of LPW- 488 is twice larger than that of LP

LPW-488 suppressed LED light source reflection, which was a problem of LED lighting for processing lighting in a lathe (Patent applied). LPW-488 is ideal for customers who are requesting higher illuminance than conventional LP LPW-488 with wide angle distribution lens characteristics is suitable for a wide range of workspace lighting. The LED low of LPWL-488 is two. LPWL is a low-price version of LPW-488 (3 LED lows). Protection grades are IP 67 F and IP 69. Tempered glass is used. The thickness is 4mm. CE marking conformity. 10
