1 Phoenix Photographic Group Newsletter from meeting of 22 May 2017 Introduction Ian welcomed those present and started prceedings by outlining the afternoon would be a continuation of the previous weeks study of reclaiming old and damaged pictures. News Items There will be NO meeting next week as it s Spring Bank Holiday. Gary called for photographers for the ROSA Rugeley 10K event, 28 th August, Rugeley Leisure Centre. Full details attached. Activities This week we continued with the reclamation of old and damaged photographs. But along with black and white prints, we also ventured into colour slides and negatives. We had 3 different types of equipment in use: Joe was assisting people using the copying frame using the floodlights on the frame for black & white pics, and also using a lightbox for use with colour slides. Bob was using a lightbox and camera system, which copied the photo straight onto the camera memory card. Ian used the ION copier system which took 3 slides at each pass. Once the machine had copied 12 slides it could be set to transfer these to a specified folder on the computer. Also you could configure the ION to copy colour negatives. Once configured for colour negatives, the embedded software dealt with the yellow cast associated with such negatives. Next Meeting 8 th June at Etching Hill

Future Events As a taster of events we are planning:- Current Topics Coverall Spring into Summer Holiday Snaps Mainstream Roads Wildlife Architecture 12 June 2017 A talk and demonstration by John Ford on the Google Nik software. 19 June 2017 Ian & Joe will be Out and About in Abbots Bromley!! 26 June 2017 A photographic quiz with a pictorial difference. 03 July 2017 Members pics We need to stress these dates are tentative and may have to change. But it is an attempt to give you some idea of our planning and future direction. Additionally, if we can accumulate enough committed interest, we plan a factory tour at JCB. Such tours require a minimum number of people in the group AND they cost real money i.e to per head, depending on type of tour. See below Members Pics for the full details. But please, everybody, think about it! We ll discuss at the next meeting. But a lukewarm or tentative interest will not float the boat. We ll need 10 people minimum prepared to commit to a date and to put their hands in their pockets for a non-returnable entry fee. If enough people are up for this we ll get some dates and Joe will contact JCB to fix it up. Members Pics All the pictures used in the newsletter have been digitised using the technique demonstrated by PPG over the last 3 sessions and are untouched by any photo editing software apart from some cropping.. guess who they are!

5 JCB Factory Visit Group Requirements: Please Note: All Visitors must be over 15 years of age All Visitors must wear Closed Toed shoes Tour times 10am & 1pm 10am Charges Tour only Schools All other groups Private tour (under 10 persons) per head per head plus per head charge Please note: Group visits are a minimum of 10 (unless otherwise stated) and a maximum of 50. Groups under 10 persons will be required to pay for a private tour guide in addition to the per head charges. Tour & food Factory tour & cooked breakfast per head (minimum of 15 persons) Factory tour & hospitality lunch per head Factory tour & afternoon tea per head (minimum of 15 persons)
