Recommendations 1. THAT Council approve the acquisition of the following artwork for the Permanent Collection as recommended by the Committee. The Committee has made recommendations to Council annually for the purchase of artworks. Document: /3

3 - 3 - Background/Justification Strategic Plan: Governance Community Well Being X Community Sustainability Economic Viability Service Delivery Stakeholder Communication Resource Management Policy: Cultural Services Policy SER , Strategy #6. Annually, Council approves new acquisitions for the Mayor s, Permanent and Youth Art Collections. Legislative/Legal: n/a Economic: The Operating Budget allocates funds for the Annual Acquisition Program and associated supplies. Social: Quality of life is enhanced through the acquisition, display and promotion of visual arts. Environmental: n/a Stakeholder: Committee members contacted and met local visual arts groups and high schools to promote the Annual and Youth Art Acquisition Programs. Interdepartmental: n/a Summary The function of the Committee is to obtain art for Strathcona County s three (3) art collections: Mayors, Permanent and Youth. The Committee also makes recommendations on how and where the art should be displayed and maintained. On Thursday, May 23,, the recommended artists will join the Mayor and Council at an unveiling ceremony of their work.
