3 Dear Trainer, One of the core values of the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Training Program is to ensure high quality training services to child welfare professionals. Providing appropriate and organized training locations is part of this value. To assist you in implementing this service, the Training Program would like to provide you with information regarding each of the training locations that is used to deliver training. The purpose of the guide is to give you detailed information about the facility and the area where it is located. The guide consists of the following sections: Section One: Section Two: Section Three: Area and Facility Information Training Room Information Closing the Training Day The Training Program appreciates your involvement and support in the achievement of providing an organized and productive learning environment. 6 FACILITY AND AREA INFORMATION Directions to the Facility: From Allentown: Take 78 West to 61 North. Follow the directions under Pottsville/Reading from this point. From Danville/Bloomsburg: Take US-11 South into Northumberland. In Northumberland, continue on King Street and go around bend until you come to a traffic light. Go straight through light and continue across two bridges towards Sunbury. At the end of second bridge, veer towards the right and you will be on Front Street in Sunbury. At the next traffic light, make a left onto Reagan Street. Continue on Reagan Street until you see Brewer s Outlet on your right. Enter Brewer s Outlet parking lot and you will see the tan Northumberland County Children and Youth Building directly in front of you (322 is written right on the building). From Harrisburg: Take 22 West to US North exit towards Selinsgrove. Pass the Susquehanna Valley Mall and continue for about 2 miles. Stay in the right lane and take the Sunbury exit across Veteran s Memorial Bridge into Sunbury and you will be on Front Street. Continue on Front Street to second traffic light and make a right onto Reagan Street. Stay on Reagan Street until you see Brewer s Outlet. Make a right into Brewer s Outlet parking lot. Northumberland County Children and Youth is the tan building located directly in front of you (322 is written right on the building). From Lewisburg: Take South. Go across Veteran s Memorial Bridge into Sunbury and you will be on Front Street. Continue on Front Street to second traffic light and make a right onto Reagan Street. Stay on Reagan Street until you see Brewer s Outlet. Make a right into Brewer s Outlet parking lot. Northumberland County Children and Youth is located in the tan building directly in front of you (322 is written right on building). From Pottsville/Reading: Take Route 61 North to Sunbury. In Sunbury, 61 North is Market Street. Make a right onto 4 th Street. Go to second traffic light and make a left onto Reagan Street. Go under small underpass and make a left into Brewer s Outlet. Northumberland County Children and Youth is the large tan building directly in front of you (322 is written right on the building). Northumberland 6
7 From Scranton: Take I-81 South. Take the I-80 West exit towards Bloomsburg. Merge I-80 West. Take the PA-54 Exit towards Danville/Sunbury. Continue on Continental Blvd. And turn right on US-11 South. Take US 11 South into Northumberland. Follow Danville/Bloomsburg directions from this point. From Williamsport: Take I-80 East towards Sunbury. I-180 East will become PA-147 South into Northumberland. In Northumberland, make a left at the traffic light onto Water Street. At the next traffic light, make a right and continue across two bridges towards Sunbury. At the end of second bridge, veer right, and you will be on Front Street in Sunbury. At the next traffic light, make a left onto Reagan Street. Continue on Reagan Street until you see Brewer s Outlet on your right. Enter Brewer s Outlet parking lot and you will see Northumberland County Children and Youth Building (a large tan building) directly in front of you (322 is written right on the building). Local Hotel Information: Hampton Inn: 3 Stettler Avenue, Route 11 & 15, Selinsgrove, PA Comfort Inn: 613 N. Susquehanna Trail Routes 11 & 15, Selinsgrove, PA Accessing the Building: Entry into the building: Building opens at 8:30 am When the trainer/trainee arrives they will come into the lobby at the security desk. They will be asked to sign in and will be given a badge that identifies them as trainer/trainee. They will need to have the badge with them for the day to identify their purpose in the building. At the end of the day they will need to hand it back in to the security guard. Contact Person: The contact person at the facility is Timena Renn. Timena is on-site at the training location and can be reached at Parking: Parking at Northumberland County Children and Youth is free. You can park in any of the parking lots. Northumberland 7
8 Special Accommodations: In the case that you have a participant requesting an accommodation due to a disability that was not already brought to your Training Specialist's attention: Parking is available directly outside the doors on both sides of the building. An elevator is available to reach all floors. The restrooms are handicapped accessible. If you require additional assistance, you are asked to contact your Training Specialist, Lacey Rapini, by calling Emergency Information: Hospitals: Sunbury Community Hospital, 350 North Eleventh Street, Sunbury, PA Fire-Police Medical: 911 Sunbury Police Department, 440 Market Street, Sunbury, PA (dispatcher s station) or Training Program Contact: The Training Delivery Specialist for this location is Lacey Rapini. She can be reached at CWP-PITT ( ). This is a toll free number that has been set up for use by the trainers. A call should be placed to the Training Program prior to 9:00 a.m. on the day of the training to verify the status of the training room and materials on the first day of training. Northumberland 8

10 TRAINING ROOM INFORMATION Training Room Location: After receiving badge trainer/trainee will be directed to the training room on the second floor. If they use the elevator, they will need to get off the elevator, go right and it will be at the end of the hall on the right. There are also stairs directly across from the security desk. Restroom Location: Restrooms are located directly outside of training room. Smoking Information: Smoking is not permitted in the building. The smoking area is located outside the rear doors of the building; the smoking outpost is located by the picnic table. The building security guards can point you in the right direction if there are any questions. Training Room Layout: The room contains 10 rectangular tables 8 are used for trainees; 1 is used in the front for equipment to be set up on; and 1 is along the wall for the trainer s use or for a resource table. There are shelving units in the front right corner of the room which hold equipment (overhead projector, slide projector, cassette/cd player, markers, and extra paper). Training Equipment Availability and Location: The training room currently contains a TV, DVD/VCR, overhead projectors and extra bulbs, slide projector, CD player, two extension cords. There is no screen; the white wall is used for a projection surface. Training Supplies Availability and Location: The training room currently contains easel stands and easel pads, name tents, markers, and masking tape. All supplies are located on the metal shelving unit in the front of the room. Office Equipment Availability and Location: Trainers have access to a telephone, computer, printer, copier, and fax machine. Any secretary in the Children and Youth office can assist the trainer in locating and using this equipment. User Friendly How-To Directions: Please refer to instructional CD. Northumberland 10

13 Checking the Room: Please ensure the following is completed before leaving the room: Tables are clear of paper and trash, including extra handouts Equipment is put away in the proper place for use by the next trainer Any posters that were placed on the walls during training are removed Supplies are return to proper place Lights are off. Returning the Building Keys: There are no keys needed to access this building or training room. Trash Disposal: Place trash can in the hallway at the end of each day. The building custodians will dispose of it. Cleaning Services Available: This room is cleaned by the building custodians regularly. If you have a two-day training and do not want the room cleaned, please leave a note on the door for the custodians. Extra Handouts: Extra handouts may be saved for another training your may be scheduled to train, or you may throw them away in the trash receptacles provided in the training room. Reporting Concerns or Broken Equipment: Trainers are responsible for calling their Training Delivery Specialist Lacey Rapini at CWP-PITT ( ) on the last day of the training to communicate the status of the training, i.e. issues with equipment, trainees, location problems, and how the overall training went. Exit through door at back of training room. Turn right and exit down stairs. If this door is inaccessible, turn left and go down stairs on right. Proceed to rear parking lot of the building.
