2 WHO WE ARE Mission National Latina Business Women Association-Los Angeles (NLBWA-LA) is dedicated to the advancement of Latina entrepreneurs, executives and corporate professionals from the Greater Los Angeles area. Vision To support, promote and recognize Latina entrepreneurs, corporate professionals and community leaders to achieve their goals, succeed and excel in new levels of advancement through: Access to role models and mentors Capacity building and technical assistance Professional development and training Extensive resource network and partnerships History The National Latina Business Women Association was established July 2003 in the City of Los Angeles as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization by a group of Latina entrepreneurs and corporate professionals who realized their need for mentors and educational programs to empower them as business owners and as professionals to grow within their industries. Since then the National Latina Business Women, a national organization was established to hold chapters in various cities across the country. Today, NLBWA-LA is the largest chapter with over 300 members.

3 We represent the Latina, who is 45% of the total female population in Los Angeles. The demographics we serve are the Entrepreneurs, Executive and Corporate Professionals, who are Key Influencer s that impacts behavior in the community. The Latina is the fastest growing demographic in the country that is achieving higher education at record numbers and starting more businesses than their peers. Latinas are a key growth engine of the U.S. economy. 86% of Latinas are the primary shopper in the household, so they control the lion s share of the $1.4 trillion in annual Hispanic buying power. The epic increase of U.S. born Latina females represents the nation s future workforce that will be ambicultural and bilingual. WHO WE REPRESENT Latinas own more than 1.5 million business in the U.S. and one in ten are women-owned firms. By 2060, Latinas will form nearly one-third of the female population in the nation. 7.5 Million Latinas live in California, the largest Latina population in the country and 3 Million Latinas are in Los Angeles. The Latina Population grew 37% between 2005 and 2015 from births in the U.S. There are 28 Million Latina females in the U.S., 25% of all the U.S. females under the age of 18 are Latina. In the last 5 years the number of companies owned by Latinas (majority-owned) increased by 682,000 which is impressive 87% increase. The number of firms owned by Latinas grew by 224% between 1997 to California s Latino purchasing power is $310.5 billion strong. Latino Owned Firms in Los Angeles County totaled 332,967. $1 of every $4 dollars or 25% spent in Los Angeles County comes from Latino households.
